Yeah, the games and the DiRT series were what got me into rally racing in he first place. Thanks for the fun times and rest in peace, you Flying Scotsman.
I started with CMR 2.0(Colin McRae Rally 2.0) my dad bought it one day and decided to let me have a go on it. from there on i was hooked And if im honest im glad about that! :-)
This game got me into racing games like no other franchise did. I remember finishing CMR04 in 2005 on a pretty crappy PC (Celeron 1.7 ghz, 128 MB SDRAM, GeForce 2 MX 400) and only on a keyboard and mouse setup. It was quite the experience. It's cruelly ironic how my most enjoyable gaming moments are with that crappy PC rather than the relatively beefy one I have now.
I agree with you, maybe because we were younger? Or because the "good looking" games just came out in those days? Also I agree on the fact that this game took me into racing games like no one else did, a part ToCa Race Driver 1
It's because you were more impressed how such an immersive game can run on crap hardware and bring so much joy, back in the good old days. I know from experience :)
PS2 version had interactive music. Some instruments would fade out or fade in depending on which option in the menu you would choose. PC version however had one long main menu music track that would not change no matter what.
@@GECKOZFTW dude if we are talking about that, dirt rally 2.0 can only compare to cmr4 not dirt rally 1 i suggest comparing dirt rally one with dirt 4 or 5
I played this game my whole life. RIP Colin McRae you will be missed.

Colin McRae Rally 04 is fun and all but I usually go to CMR 3 to play the campaign
Almost 20 years later. I stiil have so much fun playing it.
and 10 years later, I hear this music in dreams
After when I get bored playing new rally games, I just connect my ps2 and start playing this game, then I can't stop playing it without end it

@@lucasorice1589 agreed. When you're younger, you're more open to new things. Getting older means being a bit more jaded, unfortunately.
With a keyboard ? Congratulations !
My childhood game. That's all I have to say. All those good memories can't be expressed through text.
I was 17 in 2004 good times playing colin mcrae rally.

Oh I love this song, i miss this game
These games need more attention and are so underrated
The music starting at 7 minutes is just amazing.
First track is the best!!!!
It's so hard to find the soundtrack of this game!
I'm glad this video exists.

Way better than dirt rally.
Defintely not. You haven't tried DiRT Rally on a wheel then.

Yes
arial font made it modern
So did the techno-y soundtrack. Sounded "futuristic" back then. Now that we're in the future, it sounds oddly dated.
@@MentalParadoxnot really, i see some rally games with techno still playin

I absolutely hated this game i thought rally 3 was waaayy better
Don't tell that about my childhood ;(
cmr3's handling was cringe compared to 4, but what I loved about its predeccedor was the service park and cutscenes
The driving, the physics and the crash system of CMR4 was absolutely incredible and still is compare to some modern games.
Definitely but soundtrack is very good
