Best video you have produced/released in months, Camera, Tripod & Composition, no waffle, no office, back to your roots and appeal to your long time audience. Keep it up.....
I said to my boyfriend in my most accurate Heaton accent, "Guess which of our favourite UK photographers are here in Canada?" And he said back in his best Heaton, "THOMAS?!" Hahaha we love that you're here, love your videos Thomas! We love your photography skills, but truly appreciate your personality/humour. :)
Welcome to the Canadian Rockies, Thomas! Long overdue. I've spent twenty years hiking the area and moved here from the UK because of their beauty. And now my favourite landscape vloggers are all in one place! Mega!
Fantastic video! This one really captures (with your enthusiasm) the thrills of landscape photography, which includes the excitement of travel to location, the breathtaking scenery, moments of reflective serenity, unexpected spontaneous captures (i.e. ice bubbles), the satisfaction of capturing at least a few great photos, and the camaraderie with like-minded photographers. Truly enjoyable content!
Wow what a place! Good for you making the trip at the last minute, life is about experiences and making memories, I bet you’ll never forget being there! Looking forward to seeing the rest of your trip.
Seeing all you guys together is very cool. Being around like-minded friends can really be uplifting...whenever you're feeling blue get out and hang out with people.
@09:02 ++ OK, I just LOVE this segment {09:02-10:20}, ending with your reflection: "It's just a case of waiting for the light and making those fine adjustments so that you're *ready* when the light happens." I've been gathering ways to invite others into a more patient -- even contemplative -- mode of photography, and this moment in your "gorgeous" video [sorry, Mr. Black] is spot on. Thank you.
Wow... I think that last shot is my favorite image of yours - EVER. The composition and the color - it is visually gorgeous and also emotionally moving.
Hello Thomas, welcome to our beautiful country! Loved the video and the photos. Look forward to your other videos and photos while you are here. Just awesome you came to visit. It's a big beautiful country, our Canada! Cheers from London Ontario Canada
So nice to see you clearly happy and enjoying the Canadian Rockies. I spent the first 40 years of my life there and plan a slow meandering drive and shoot trip sometime again. Have some warm food and some good Canadian beer. Looking forward to the next. You know, there are LOTS of wild places all over Canada and many historic spots out east.. Limitless possibilities
Nothing more satisfying than spontaneous, random adventures. Great feeling breaking out of the routine and getting reinvigorated. Congrats! Glad you are back in your element.
Welcome to Canada, Thomas! Your enthusiasm is awesome, and it’s like I get to discover home all over again through your perspective. So excited you are here. Come back and explore BC next time: Kootenays, Chilcotin Ark, The Island, Haida Gwai... I could go on.
Yess! This is the Thomas I remember subscribing to.. passionate, getting into it and just shooting some absolutely stunning images, not overly caring about doing the "vloggy" thing.
So happy you got to experience the best part of Canada. I'm glad you enjoyed it! I lived in Banff, Alberta for just over a year. It's paradise in the rockies!
Gorgeous scenic place. Amazing you. Brilliant people with you(especially Gavin). Loved it. Keep it up. I am Always waiting for Sunday because you. Waiting for your video to be uploaded. Waiting for the next video.
welcome to canada my home land and the best rockies in the world you should come back in the spring when the wild flowers come out with all the beautiful animals, so enjoy your stay
Great video Tom. The first and last images were my favourite. The last one was a double whammy, ie great composition on its own but the foreground has mystery and depth. Superb stuff. Thanks for the video.
At the end of my tiring day, laying in my bed, contemplating another tiring day tomorrow, you bring me such peace in this video, I could hear the silence in the opening minutes, I could hear the chill wind, thank you Tom, thank you. By the way just bought your ebook from Amazon, looking forward to a great read too.
Loved this video. Your intimate shot of the ice bubbles was different, in a very good way, to many other landscape photographers on RUclips. I loved the playing around of the other RUclips friends. Looks like this will be a special trip for all of you! Great to see you having fun!
Great video, lovely images, was in the Canadian Rockies last summer. Beautiful, beautiful scenery, even managed to see a couple of brown bears. Good to see your enthusiasm restored and doing what you do best, taking absolutely stunning photographs and enjoying the moment.
That was great, what a fun video and fun trip for you guys. Nice to have this channel back to why I started watching - awesome trips and great photos with explanation of why THAT photo.
What a treat! Many of my favourite RUclipsrs in the same video & location. Can't wait to see what you all get up to. Man, that location! Just love the shots so far.
Nice to see you back on form Thomas , looking forward to seeing more . Great video by the way , really like it when you show how you actually take your shoots like the focus stacking .
Tom - Absolutely fantastic! Good on you for just picking up and doing it! Love the fact that you're traipsing around my old country too (grew up in Canada, although not near the Rockies unfortunately). I have been to the Alberta Rockies a couple of times and it's definitely Landscape Heaven. I love your spontaneity. Drink it all in! Looking forward to the rest of the adventure.
Great video Tom. Love the group of you together, like I've said with Nick, Gavin, now you and will say on Adam's video. Your camaraderie is infectious. Everyone should have such a great group of friends to hook up with and enjoy.
So glad you enjoyed it. You took some great shots. Abraham Lake is a wonder, all year round. The blue in the summer is amazing, and yet the lake is so clear in the winter. We love it out here. #dtcountry
Definitely got your mojo back with this video Thomas. Beautiful location, but also beautifully focused on the craft of capturing that magical image. Really enjoyed this one!!
Canada is so vast and there is so much to see. Glad to see you could make it out. We love having you. If your ever in my neighbourhood your welcome to stay at my place and take pictures here as well on the wet coast.
All of my favorites in one place! I thought I felt the earth shift a tad. You just glowed with joy my friend. I'm so happy to see it and look forward to all of your shots from the trip as well as the musings of the others involved.
So glad to see you finally made it to the great Canadian Rockies. I spent my entire life on the west side of the Rockies from where you landed in Calgary and you could spend your entire life time in that area never shooting the same mountain twice. hope you make many visits. enjoy Canada.
Looks like a mountain of FUN FUN FUN! You are a fantastic inspiration for landscape photography, unique, PS. good to see Nick Page there with you, he is also a brilliant landscape photographer. Hope the week went well and looking forward to the next exciting episode from Canada.
Great video! phenomenal location! And the English version of the Scottish Loony Dook! Fanastic! :-) Good to see you getting out there and enjoying the process again. Fantastic! ;-)
Nice. Life is too short... In our 50s and we spent 5 months backpacking across Nepal and India then went to Asia to 18 months, same drill.. now travel across Europe in an RV.. no plans, just travel, enjoy and over 173,000 photos... The dream!
A quick FYI for methane bubbles. Take a cup of warm water and throw it over the ice, it takes some of the cloudy problem away and adds some reflections. We have had some amazing shots that didn't turn out as nice as we expected until we did the water trick. The other trick is Beavertail Snowshoes, they take some getting used to but a lot less sinking in the snow LOL. I am so glad that you guys had such an amazing trip to one little corner of our amazing Canadian Rockies.
So very glad to see that you have travelled across the pond to take in the sights, and enjoy the friendly people of Canada, of which I am one. The Canadian Rockies, well, really all the high mountains of Western Canada, are a photographer’s delight. Based on video #1, it sure looks like it is going to be fun. Cannot wait for the next instalment.
.......and you did right mister Heaton! Thanks once again for the inspiring video. We've been plunged in a grey gloomy mess here in Northern France for the last few weeks so i apreciate seeing a bit of beautiful landscape. That place looks epic! Enjoy
You guys both have to come down to the Eastern Sierras for the fall colors. It’s high elevation so late September to early October. I go and shoot the the Eastern Sierras every fall and the unlimited amounts of composition is unbelievable.
I am really glad, that you are not there. This week instead of 6 videos, with different landscapes I will get 6 videos on the same place. I will take back my subscription, if this continues :)
Best video you have produced/released in months, Camera, Tripod & Composition, no waffle, no office, back to your roots and appeal to your long time audience. Keep it up.....
Welcome finally to Canada and my province, I hope you have a fantastic visit!
Yes! Welcome to Canada Tom! We are so happy to have you here and lucky to have your lens on our beautiul mountains. I hope you enjoyed your stay.
So good to see the joy in your face and body language - you are back to doing what you love! That wide angle frozen lake image is spectacular.
Wow, great opportunity, and glad you linked Adam Gibbs you tube channel, it's one of my favorites with yours. Have fun - nature seems superb.

Great to see you publishing longer videos and more importantly enjoying what you do once again. Have fun.
Fantastic video!
