I agree, beautiful boat. Has a monk look to it. My kind of boat. I grew up on the B.C. coast. We had boats before cars. It was a nice way to start your growing years. Love your videos, Ken. Please keep them coming.
That boat is deff at the top of the "Coolest I've Towed" list. edit: that cam on the top as you were going into the marina was a great shot. It's nice to see the overall picture of the environment you're in. Keep it up capt.
Hinckley boats are amazing. They are made not to far from where I grew up. I've been on a picnic yacht, it was an amazing boat. The joystick control was also a shocker.
@@chiphill4856 You can pick up a used on from the 1990s for between the low 200K to around mid 300Ks. Not an inexpensive way to enjoy the water. But if you have the means, I could think of worst things to own. The maintenance fees are going to be eye watering even by boat standards. On the plus side you'll probably be the only one with one in the marina.
I use you and your adventures on the job as an example to young men; do a fun job. Look around at the possibilities. Interesting outdoor work, same thing only different every day. Fresh air, bit of danger, lots of responsibility, Thanks from those your aid. And then you've branched out and are providing wonderfully entertaining video content. Family quality too! Depends more on the hull design...but for something like this, it only draws 18in because it doesn't have a prop and rudder hanging below the hull (or have a deep keel) as would be typical for this style boat. Seeing as this boat is design by a company in the northeast, I would actually bet it handles rougher seas pretty good
@@CaptKenO From my personal observation, the deeper draft makes a boat sit in the water more firm / deeper which positively affects its ride in rough water.. That applies to my boats - the best riding one is my Formula with the 22 degree deadrise and 37 inch draft. But I never rode the jet boat and only assumed it would not have much to hold onto the water because of the jets, almost like a jetski jumping, but I don't have experience with this particular boat
A formula is made to run wide open offshore. This is a picnic boat, made for day trips, picnics, overnight within sheltered waters. Believe me it handles great. One of the first boats to have a joystick. Twin yanmar diesel jet drives and a bow thruster combine for great control. It is particularly well suited for its application. A prized possession for anyone.
Great job. No worries with the mistake. If you never mess up, you "Aren't" doing anything. Hard to believe the cooling system had an issue, the Yanmar power system is pretty reliable. I believe that has the Hamilton Jet-Drive system.
Thanks Jeffrey! I don't know what exactly was wrong with the system...but I know the old yanmar diesel boat I ran in Venice would drink coolant occasionally
I sometimes have that problem with the line, but usually it's because the wind blows my sailboat that way and I need to rethink things as I go all the time.
Interesting one Cap. Surprised a boat like that, and it appears to be heavy has a jet drive. It could have been purposely build with such a low draft, and I dont what he has for power, but they generally suck a ton of fuel. We see them here in rivers often with low water...
Thanks Vancity! Jet drives are used on some really big and heavy boats for high speed and/or shallow operating conditions. Definitely not as fuel efficient as a prop though
Thanks Patricio! I've never operated a jet boat, so I can't really say. I know they've got their fair share of issues but they've also got some really good benefits as well
You use those shift levers more in one day than the average pleasure boater in a year. Are the shifters a high maintenance item or are they a special kind of commercial shifter?
Hahaha. That we do! Nope. They're the standard shifters. Nothing special about them. No idea what the expected life of them is, but I'm sure it's significantly shorter
What’s your tow speed? I’ve always been curious on that everyone in the towing/salvage business has different opinions on that. I love the videos got into this work from watching your videos I love it
The camera doesn't like the digital screens and the prokat is the only boat that has one...but under tow it's about 6 gal/hr and cruising is about 20 gal/hr
Not in the slightest. You can't see it, but we've got two 8ft antennas on top of the t top, and even if we didn't have those up there, it would've been more work to get up there and throw the line over than to move the throttles and spin the boat 😂
Yeah but you played the mistake in a way that most didn't notice, that's working on a different level when you can make even the minor stuff look like you meant it..... lol, the fact that you realized it before it became an issue is part of that. It's quite a boat but I recently read there's so many issues w/ that kind of drive train? I'm no expert & have no boat. Keyboard Warrior ! Beautiful morning to be out. peace

I just Googled an MSRP price for a 35 ft model and was taken aback.. 2021 and 2022 priced at 1.2 million... Ouch
Yep. Boats that good looking don't come cheap...😬
I want to say this was a 2003 model year, but even looking at used boats, they're around 250k
They were around $1M brand new when they first came out. I can't imagine today.

Does anyone here love the music he plays when he is fast forwarding? I love it
Glad you like it 😁
Always makes me smile! I meant to comment on the music too...I get a kick outta the ff parts. He has a knack of creating joy.
Man that entrance looks so narrow! Another awesome job Captain 👍👍👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Iceman! Not one of my preferred ones for sure
You are the man captain Ken! Always look forward to your new videos.
Thanks Jerry!

Hinkleys are amazing boats, there are many many of them where I live
That Hinkley is a beauty! Another great job Cap'n.
Thanks Del!
Looking good Ken, channel is growing.
Thanks Jon!

I see theae boats alot on the northern east coast, super expensive.great tow ken
Well done Captain👍
Thanks Mark!
Love your work, keep it going.

I liked this video so much that I watched it again. Great job Cap'n Ken.

Damn. Been waiting for your video today Cap'n! Gonna be able to watch it all before church!
Nice work!

Lol 😂
Nice boat!!!
Damn nice way to thread the needle at that marina.
Thanks Arnold!
No biggie! I thought you did a fine job.
Nice boat!
The cabin swoop is almost like my Shamrock HT

Capt. Ken: how do you like jet drive system? Your opinion, please. Great video as always.

BOAT= break out another thousand
@@johnstreet797 so true. Love the name for sure!!!
Wrapped the ole rope around the wheelhouse trick
Yep 🤦

Where do you work?
It's more of an RPM range, so depending on the size and style of the boat, between 4-7kts
Depending on hull number I prob built this in Trenton a loooong time ago. old single engine 36.
That's awesome !
I ran a Boats US tow boat in Beaufort NC so you videos are particularly interesting. How 'bout an occasional view of your Gallons Per Hour gauge?
The camera doesn't like the digital screens and the prokat is the only boat that has one...but under tow it's about 6 gal/hr and cruising is about 20 gal/hr
@@CaptKenO Thanks, was wondering.
Maybe a silly question, would it not of been easier to just throw the line over the top of the console? Rather than having to spin round ?

What kind of license is required to tow boats?
A 6-pack with towing endorsement
Thank you!
All the boats I've ever been owned by I.ve never had enough money to hire someone else to fix them.
By the way. Do you know what motor is in the boat?
I do not

Thanks Diggy! I'm sure the customer was wondering why I was spinning in the middle of the canal for no apparent reason 😂
Those Hinkleys just look out of place in Floriderp.
Definitely more of a northeast boat 😉
Owner should have a fend off pole.
For what?
Picture quality really bad, but i do like your videos,😁😁
You said that this was twice in a year you've towed that boat. That's a Hinckley, near a million new. What in the world would could be wrong??
Steering went out the first time and overheating this time
Single engine Hinckley, not my favorite choice.Nice job towing.
