I've enjoyed your videos Good luck in the future
Well Sir ..Its been enjoyable watching your videos ...They will be missed
Fair winds
Captain Ron .Naples Florida
Hey capt. This was an old video. I have since started at a new company and am still posting videos
Well Ken, on to bigger an better things mate, ur ex employer obviously didn't know a great employee when he had one. I want to say thanks for helping all those people and boats by getting them safely to a dock. I hope we see u back on the water soon Dufuss xx🌈👍💪🌟Perfect Ending!!!
Thanks Sea Wench! The ending was more fitting than anyone other than me knows...but yes, on to slightly bigger and most definitely better things! Luckily for you, in less than a week you'll know what that is 😉
Your customer service and skill is top shelf so you shouldn't have a hard time finding a new place to work and hello from NJ
Thanks Kenneth! I already had a job lined up to work for towboat us under a different owner a little bit to the north (Sarasota) of where I was working (Venice) in this video
@@CaptKenO giddy up!!!!
As soon as i saw the deck i knew it was a shamrock predator. Love those boats
I'll take my twin outboard cats any day over the shamrocks. Yes they're good little work boats, but the outboards are sooooo much more versatile for the work we do
Yes absolutely, same. But for taking the wife and kids out. A nice stable boat with a head goes a loooong way.
Love watching your videos. Just started my own channel for the work I do up in Michigan at one of the busiest TowBoat ports in the country!
Thanks Nick! The best piece of equipment you can buy for this type of content is a 360 camera. I'd recommend the insta360 x4
His lost big time thank-you for teaching us so much
Thanks T N! I'm glad you're enjoying my content! I think you'll really enjoy what the future holds for this channel!
As someone who was a tow operator on land I completely understand recording if nothing more for liability reasons. I can’t imagine working for someone that didn’t want you to cover your butt or so you can learn if you did screw up.
Absolutely! My new boss 100% supports not only my recording of the videos, but posting the content as well!
Thank you for your service sir!
I used to hate getting calls for sail boats. Most I encountered were inexperienced. They would call in saying they lost power and needed towed into Marco Marina. They would usually call in about 20 miles south of Marco even though they had 15 knot winds.
All the damn time. I constantly had sailboats 10+ miles off Venice call in for engine failure. Dude. Sail the damn boat closer to the inlet and then I'll come tow your ass in
I am waiting for the big reveal with high hopes for a new direction for You Captain Ken.
Thanks a Mrak! Less than a week left...😉
Well, this companies poor decisions have let some other company gain a very experienced and capable tow boat operator
Nice job Capt Ken!
Thanks Peterbilt! My new boss definitely appreciates the work I do and sees the benefit to my recording my jobs!
Happy for you Captain Ken, I’ll be watching and liking 👍🏻
Thanks Mary!
How in the world can that guy not know to put the line under the railing (did you call it a lifeline?).
You'd be surprised the ways people try and route the towline...it's why I have to pay extra attention when I give it to them and generally prefer to do it myself if I can
Just tie it to forstay... it should hold ... after all it's a wire rope that can hold Like a thousands pounds right?
.. lol
Your last toe the reason why I watch the show made me want to get BoatUS coverage if they let you go then I will try other company lol
Thanks Deebee! I still work for TowBoat US, just under a different and better owner
Why do these companies not understand the seeing what you do, encourages more memberships
exactly. I wish every service I pay for (car repair, appliance repair, towing, everything) was recorded. It makes it appear that this company has something to hide.
My old boss has been running this company for 20 years, and in his eyes it's worked out so far (definitely could be run a whole lot better)...so why mess with it?
It's not so much that there's something particular to hide, but when everything you do is put on the internet there will always be people who will pick apart every decision you make. Hell, even I look at some of the decisions I make while editing the videos and go WTF did I do it that way for? 😂
Most captains don’t ever want to admit to making a mistake. And a lot of people see these videos lol that’s probably why. Customer complaints and customers pay the bills. Pretty dumb reason. But meh….you will be ok
Much of the tow business seems to involve sea sickness--brown bottle flu.
At the beginning of the tow it looked like his rudder was turned to port. Did the water over the rudder self correct this? Nice boat. Questionable seamanship. Good video. Thanks.
Thanks Gary!
Yes it was all the way to port. You can see this because as soon as I pulled him off the boat went hard port. I'm assuming the captain did what I instructed him to do and straighten up behind me since most rudders won't auto center by water pressure alone...but who knows for sure 🤷
Sorry to hear this, hope it all works out for you. Is the big reveal you get your own boat?
Thanks Vancity! I've been at my new job for 5 months now, and so far so good! As far as what that is...well, you'll just have to wait and see...🤔😉
I suppose not disclosing to the client or your boss that you’re recording for your private broadcast could violate some service or employment contract. I’m not a lawyer. Unlike filming at a beach or park, which are public spaces, you’re recording someone’s private property, kind of like paparazzi. I haven’t seen any inappropriate videos of wives’ butts or children, but the client doesn’t know that. If anything, recording is a smart CYA move for insurance and safety purposes, documented proof of your skills if some jerk wants to try to pin some damage, accidental or that he caused, on you. Maybe just tell your new boss your recording plan and post a sign for customers. Technically, that could be evidence if god forbid something goes wrong and someone gets hurt.
Appreciated watching your seamanship skills. Thank you for your videos. Good luck with your new boss. Fair winds.
On the water is a public place, so that's not the issue, and there's no contract violation either. I initially started recording my jobs to cover my ass if there was any issues. My new boss absolutely loves the fact that I record the jobs since he trusts that we do a good job, so it should only ever work in his favor (which it has on a few occasions). Oh, and our corporate liaison likes the publicity that these types of videos bring to the company too 😁
6bt in that shamrock bangin away!
This one is actually a Yanmar, but we had the Cummins in the little pilot house shamrock that made a couple of appearances in my videos
You quit bc they didn't like your videos? That's not good thinking on their part. The videos protect them in case of disputes. I enjoy your videos. Get your own towing business
Thanks Ronnie! I was told to stop my videos about 6 months before I finally quit, and that played a part in why I left, but wasn't the only reason. I still work for towboat us just a different location under a different boss that actually appreciates what my videos can do for the business.
I'll keep watching
This is the 1st video of yours I have ever seen so forgive me for not knowing exactly what I was LQQKin' For within......lol, I know
in this day -n- age there's a lot of shyster's looking for a free ride(TOW) and they'll spin any situation to make their case. It was
smart to video the sH!T going down(ships included) so you could defend your & your companies position but I guess you're
done for now & I hope to find ya again one day. Be safe & GB ALL
I quit working for this guy and started working for another company doing the same thing, so I've still got new videos coming out weekly!
Hey Captain, I've been binging on your stuff......lol, you know those waters inside-out & you've got common sense
which are two things that ought to get you paid very well & I ain't mentioned the dangers but I digress. You're very
good at what ya do for a young man, they ought to understand your value but some won't until you leave.
Their loss big time. I'll be looking for you, peace
now I'm subb'd UP & clanged the bell
I thought all Beneteau sailboats have a straight up and down bow? Maybe that’s an older model.
I'm not an expert on boat styles so I'll take your word on it. This was an older boat... I don't remember exactly, but I think it was from the 80s
Sorry our brother
Thanks John! I work for a better boss now doing the same thing, so it's all good 😁
@@CaptKenO glad to hear it Ken!!
Why the hell did they need a tow
I'm pretty sure they only told me when we got closer that they got their engine running
Your ex-boss must have something to be afraid of. I'm not going to call or recommend him anytime in the future. Would you be interested in starting your own business? I might be able to help with finances. I'm just saying.
Thanks Dale! I just might take you up on that offer someday 😉
😢
Just quit working for thst boss and started working for another one
Your talents make it look easy. Obviously, it's not.
Thanks Bigkings!
