    I used to hate getting calls for sail boats. Most I encountered were inexperienced. They would call in saying they lost power and needed towed into Marco Marina. They would usually call in about 20 miles south of Marco even though they had 15 knot winds.

    • @CaptKenO
      @CaptKenO  23 дня назад +2

      All the damn time. I constantly had sailboats 10+ miles off Venice call in for engine failure. Dude. Sail the damn boat closer to the inlet and then I'll come tow your ass in

      It's not so much that there's something particular to hide, but when everything you do is put on the internet there will always be people who will pick apart every decision you make. Hell, even I look at some of the decisions I make while editing the videos and go WTF did I do it that way for? 😂

      Most captains don’t ever want to admit to making a mistake. And a lot of people see these videos lol that’s probably why. Customer complaints and customers pay the bills. Pretty dumb reason. But meh….you will be ok

    Much of the tow business seems to involve sea sickness--brown bottle flu.

  • @garyhardee2720
    @garyhardee2720 Год назад +3

    At the beginning of the tow it looked like his rudder was turned to port. Did the water over the rudder self correct this? Nice boat. Questionable seamanship. Good video. Thanks.

    • @CaptKenO
      @CaptKenO  Год назад

      Thanks Gary!
      Yes it was all the way to port. You can see this because as soon as I pulled him off the boat went hard port. I'm assuming the captain did what I instructed him to do and straighten up behind me since most rudders won't auto center by water pressure alone...but who knows for sure 🤷

    I suppose not disclosing to the client or your boss that you’re recording for your private broadcast could violate some service or employment contract. I’m not a lawyer. Unlike filming at a beach or park, which are public spaces, you’re recording someone’s private property, kind of like paparazzi. I haven’t seen any inappropriate videos of wives’ butts or children, but the client doesn’t know that. If anything, recording is a smart CYA move for insurance and safety purposes, documented proof of your skills if some jerk wants to try to pin some damage, accidental or that he caused, on you. Maybe just tell your new boss your recording plan and post a sign for customers. Technically, that could be evidence if god forbid something goes wrong and someone gets hurt.
    Appreciated watching your seamanship skills. Thank you for your videos. Good luck with your new boss. Fair winds.

    • @CaptKenO
      @CaptKenO  26 дней назад +2

      On the water is a public place, so that's not the issue, and there's no contract violation either. I initially started recording my jobs to cover my ass if there was any issues. My new boss absolutely loves the fact that I record the jobs since he trusts that we do a good job, so it should only ever work in his favor (which it has on a few occasions). Oh, and our corporate liaison likes the publicity that these types of videos bring to the company too 😁
