Dygdiga töser🌞🙆♂️👍😊
Two….doubles the fun. Lovely!
... and halves the worry !
I know that feeling well 😁
Immaculate bowing...beautiful version of a beautiful tune...
Thank you very much !
Sounds beautiful. I loved the sound of two nyckelharpas working together.
Yes, especially when the two nyckelharpa players have been to the same school and learned the same tunes from the same teachers... bowings are exactly the same, rhythms, ornaments, etc. ^^
Really awesome! Great playing!
From France, bravo et merci !
Contente que ca vous plaise, merci !
I need more nyckleharpa in my life. Wonderful playing, thanks for sharing.
Don't we all ? ;)
Superb piece!
Beautiful women!!!
Thank you for the music!
Greetings from Colombia, South America

A nyckelharpa player in Colombia, my, that's nice =)
Your music is beautiful like always and now it's double. Bravo to you both!
The place is awesome and quite unexpected: I see this is in Norway: possibly that's why it's not almost totally flat... At least that's how I imagine Sweden.
Thanks a lot for sharing!
Thank you !
Sweden is not so flat actually : it entirely depends on the region ! The South is super flat, the West is hilly and the North-West is mountainous !
That's the idea I got too. I wonder about the coastal regions in the East, north of Uppsala
@@alexardov Flat but lovely. In the middle of the coastline you have a quite small region which is mountainous and looks quite a bit like Norwegian fjords : Höga Kusten. Beautiful.
Very nice piece, when are you going to release an album 👀
Thank you, I release one some months ago, a duo with a guitar player : emeliewaldken.bandcamp.com/album/svall-duo-live-in-leuven
Beautifully played, both! First I thought I was getting crazy, but you do actually sit on different sides for the thumbnail and for the actual video ^^
Hahaha yep we did change places for the photos.
Superbe ! Et très beau paysage aussi :-)
Ouiii c'était magnifique comme endroit !
Love your videos. I'm thinking of taking up nyckelharpa. I notice in a video of yours you talk about having 4 rows of keys, but 3 seems to be the standard with many makers/sellers. What would you recommend? Is it the case that with only 3 rows you can't change notes on the lowest string? I like the idea of having the option to harmonise with all strings and also be able to play things in the lowest register too. Are 4 rows generally rarer or more costly? Are there makers you'd recommend?
So nice that you're thinking about starting nyckelharpa !
Yes, 3-rows nyckelharpas are the most common type, the easiest ones to come by, made by the most builders, and come in the greatest variety of prices.
And they are really good instruments, many pros have played on 3-rows all their life and made incredible music !
I personally think that 4-rows are even better, because yes it's just 4 extra notes but it really opens up the possibilities of the instrument, for example playing melodies one octave down or playing chords.
They are much rarer, although not forcibly more costly - it depends on the builder and the model. They are also becoming slowly more common nowadays.
Mine is built by Jean-Claude Condi in France, who makes (in my opinion) the absolute best keyboards, but his waiting list is long and his prices are quite high (logically so).
Holger Funke has sold a few 4-rows, Enar Magnusson has built some, and some others. Here's a list of builders : www.emeliewaldken.net/nyckelharpabuilders
In the end it depends on three main things :
- What you want to play. If you're mostly after melodies, 3-rows are perfect. If you want to accompany others and/or play in the viola register, then 4-rows is a better option.
- Your finances (but that's the case for all types of nyckelharpas).
- What you happen to come by. Depending on your country/region and just pure luck... I'd say don't get too fixated on a 4-rows if nyckelharpas are rare in your region. If a nice 3-rows passes by, buy it. It will always be time to hunt for a 4-rows or order one later on =)
@@EmelieWaldken Hey, thanks so much for this considered response. I'm in Ireland and honestly I don't think a nyckelharpa is going to just 'pass by' here! A 4 row from Condi costs nearly EUR4000, while from Magnusson it costs EUR1700. Why is there such a huge price disparity between the two makers? Should this make me suspicious!? Or should I just go for the obviously way cheaper one? Thanks again, and I may be back in touch with you for online lessons if I do make the leap!!
@@jmalatesta The price varies a lot from builder to builder, for a variety of reasons : location (the cheapest nyckelharpas are found in Sweden), type of keyboard, way of building and assembling the pieces...
Magnusson is a really good builder, no need to worry, but Condi makes better keyboards (possibly the best out there).
Shipping (or travelling to pick it up) is also an additional price to consider ;)
Y'all sound amazing on your instruments. Your music inspires me to practice my D tin whistle (because I don't own a nyckelharpa).
Tin whistle is an underrated instrument, which can do much more than its simple appearance suggests ! Wishing you great musical times with it ! (and perhaps a nyckelharpa some day, if it's your wish)
@@EmelieWaldken Thanks for the support.
