I think in school fundation is too much. When I was in High School I rarely used makeup and I think that is the reason that now at my 30´s I can go out without makeup and look good. Very nice and simple makeup for teenagers! I'm not a huge fan of wearing a covering foundation at this age, but I understand it can make you feel more confident, especially if you have skin issues at this age. Great video, as usual!

I hardly ever wore makeup in highschool but now with all these beauty guru videos everywhere I reckon there's a lot more pressure for young girls in high school to HAVE to wear makeup
Most beauty gurus aren't even in school, everybody has a way in expressing themselves and beauty gurus simply express themselves in beauty. You don't have to wear make up it's your decision, nobody is putting 'pressure' on you or 'forcing' you to because it's your choice.
RUclips wasn't big until the end of my high school years, nor did I even know about beauty gurus when I started wearing make up. I don't think youtubers 'pressure' young girls to wear make up. A lot of them promote self confidence and encourage girls to wear what they feel comfortable wearing. In my personal experience, I started wearing make up (foundation, mascara and eyeliner) in year 8 because popular girls in my school did, i wanted to fit in and appear more grown up. I think most pressure these days comes from media blasting young girls with images of models with perfect photoshopped faces, along with the bombardment of make up ads on tv and in magazines. Think about how many Ads on tv you see for Maybelline or Loreal.
I didn't start wearing make up until highschool, and I still don't wear it everyday at school, and I don't feel pressured at all, I just wear it because I think it looks pretty and I like to..

Everyone is saying "OMG, don't wear foundation if you're in high school!" Meanwhile, I'm just thinking I WISH I would have known about foundation in high school! lol. My mother was both very conservative and very frugal with makeup (just a little eye liner and lip stick), so if she as an adult woman didn't think it was necessary to spend money on a full face of makeup for herself, of course I didn't have the luxury. Before I got a job, I had a small collection of eye shadow, mascara, and eye liner (most of which were products my sisters bought but didn't like). Going back now and looking at the splotchy uneven mess my face was in photos, I wish I would have invested in some foundation. Yes, it's absolutely better to let your skin breath, and your skin will stay healthier and younger looking longer if you wait to introduce it to makeup. But if someone feels more confident wearing "all of that shit on their face", they shouldn't be judged for it.

I started wearing foundation at the age of 13 to cover my massive break outs and even though at that age I couldn't really afford expensive make up and didn't know what were the perfect product for my specific type of skin I learnt aaaa looot, now I'm 21 I know what looks good on me and what's good for my skin and all that. I can assure you that 8 years ago there wasn't that huge range of products for teens, and teens nowadays have more products for acne-prone and oily skin which is amazing. And I just want to remind those people who say foundation is too much for school: have u forgotten how succeptible are teens? or highschool bullying taking advantage of people's looks or the way they dress? It's all about confidence at that age (something that teens need a looot)

She did a videos with all first impressions and the foundation was one of them. She said the shade was darker than what she normally uses. She went to a L'Oréal party showcase and got free products. I think they didn't have her shade so she had to get one darker.

I had phases where I liked putting make up for school. I'm 17 now, about to graduate high school. But since I've been so stressed, I only put some concealer under my eyes, sometimes my blemishes, so I can look presentable for life. Having dark circles is a bitch. I need more sleep, and need to drink more water. Also I tried wearing foundation a few times regularly but it actually makes me feel self-conscious about myself. Also I see people who wear foundation every day and when they take it off they look dead. But Lauren still looks great without it but other people, I don't know what they are doing with their skin, but they just look they have been doing drugs and being dead.
I'm trying to reorganise my morning routine so I can put on makeup as I've worked myself into a bit of a corner over the last couple of years and I give myself literally 15 minutes between getting up and the bus leaving 😬 I've modified it to get as much sleep as possible and it's backfired a bit lol
if your still in high school you shouldnt be pressured to wear make up... when i was younger i didnt think a minute about how i looked and i didnt care, now there is so much pressure to look good, no wonder so many people are insecure.
I think that's the problem, each year there's more and more pressure about physical features and it sucks because it's something that people have learned to care about sooo much I wish I didn't care it would make me a much more happier person but it's gotten to me so bad
I graduated in 1998. I put on makeup and did my hair every day from the time I was in middle school until some point in college. A lot of the girls did. I don't think it's necessarily getting worse for girls (I know I wouldn't have been caught dead in pajama pants when I was in hs but it happens all the time now). I think it's getting noticed a lot more, though.
I hate to admit even though I am in highschool and do wear just about everything in this video on a daily basis. Usually my excuse is that I just enjoy makeup, and I really do, but the entire reason I started it all was because people were always pushing me into it. My friends wore makeup in middle school and I'd always feel ashamed whenever the told me to cover up my acne or that I should fix something, and so I did. It's kind of eye opening, really.
Lauren, could you please do a Kate Upton inspired tutorial, if its possible to do a natural onw, like her Bobbi brown ads and a more dramatic look, with the red lips and eyeliner, it would be wonderful.
Instead of saying "this is what works for me; if it doesn't for you, change it," explain how you would change it to suit different features. For example, what color eyeshadow, blush would you recommend for various eye and skin colors, etc.
I wanna start using my curling iron more. I always get so lazy. And I wanna start using different lip colors each day for school (that's wearable of course)
add a few eye drops to tube and shake it really well, i do that to old dried out mascaras and it makes them new again. i also have used a tinyyyyy amount of lotion and found it does the same thing, but try like 4-6 eye drops
i just got that mascara you used yesterday and it is sooo good.. i have quite small eyes and that mascara makes me feel really confident. i would highly recommend!xx

For some reason, your personality seems much more warmer, more open and its really awesome! I don't know if it's just me, but you seem to laugh more, joke around more and you sound very very genuine. I by no means want to sound rude or offensive!! I just think that lately, you seem very relatable and inspiring and it's again, AMAZING!!
I had phases where I liked putting make up for school. I'm 17 now, about to graduate high school. But since I've been so stressed, I only put some concealer under my eyes, sometimes my blemishes, so I can look presentable for life. Having dark circles is a bitch. I need more sleep, and need to drink more water. Also I tried wearing foundation a few times regularly but it actually makes me feel self-conscious about myself. Also I see people who wear foundation every day and when they take it off they look dead. But Lauren still looks great without it but other people, I don't know what they are doing with their skin, but they just look they have been doing drugs and being dead.

I'm trying to reorganise my morning routine so I can put on makeup as I've worked myself into a bit of a corner over the last couple of years and I give myself literally 15 minutes between getting up and the bus leaving 😬 I've modified it to get as much sleep as possible and it's backfired a bit lol
lol!! be sure to have a 5 minute makeup routine for whenever you snooze a lil too much ahaha

if your still in high school you shouldnt be pressured to wear make up... when i was younger i didnt think a minute about how i looked and i didnt care, now there is so much pressure to look good, no wonder so many people are insecure.

I think that's the problem, each year there's more and more pressure about physical features and it sucks because it's something that people have learned to care about sooo much I wish I didn't care it would make me a much more happier person but it's gotten to me so bad
16,17 & 18 year olds wearing makeup is just the norm now.
I graduated in 1998. I put on makeup and did my hair every day from the time I was in middle school until some point in college. A lot of the girls did. I don't think it's necessarily getting worse for girls (I know I wouldn't have been caught dead in pajama pants when I was in hs but it happens all the time now). I think it's getting noticed a lot more, though.
I hate to admit even though I am in highschool and do wear just about everything in this video on a daily basis. Usually my excuse is that I just enjoy makeup, and I really do, but the entire reason I started it all was because people were always pushing me into it. My friends wore makeup in middle school and I'd always feel ashamed whenever the told me to cover up my acne or that I should fix something, and so I did. It's kind of eye opening, really.
Using blush really changed my whole makeup look! It's makes me look so much more awake and healthy and glowy I love it so much now!

Instead of saying "this is what works for me; if it doesn't for you, change it," explain how you would change it to suit different features. For example, what color eyeshadow, blush would you recommend for various eye and skin colors, etc.

no problem it's one of my favorite mascaras
add a few eye drops to tube and shake it really well, i do that to old dried out mascaras and it makes them new again. i also have used a tinyyyyy amount of lotion and found it does the same thing, but try like 4-6 eye drops
i just got that mascara you used yesterday and it is sooo good.. i have quite small eyes and that mascara makes me feel really confident. i would highly recommend!xx
