  • Let me show you a technique for how to put a sleeping baby down to sleep, so they don't wake up.
    Firstly free up the hand from behind your baby's back and then lean all the way over into the crib, holding your baby close to your chest before gently laying them down on the mattress. Leave one hand on baby's tummy and the other on their head, before slowly removing your hand. Apply gentle pressure to the tummy, hover for a while, and then slowly remove this too.

    This works but I regret not keeping my baby on my body more. At 3 to 4 months I learned from dr James McKenna and a few people with phd in childhood development the benefits of cosleeping/ bed sharing! It changes my world!!!! Omg and no schedules! They sleep when they want to and eat when they want it, so much less stress and I less energy on my part going to waste fighting their needs and natural instincts to conform to my culture/ my wants.

    Im a Paediatrician with more than a decade of working experience. I also have a baby on my own and i hate to break it to you but it is not as easy with a real baby.
    That is why mothers are chronically sleep deprived the world over. Nobody as far as i know, have cracked the code yet!

      Hey alyahamzah! Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your little one. Have you tried establishing a regular sleep routine including a regular/prepared sleep environment, regular order and maybe introducing some white/pink noise? • @SweetDreamersTV
      @SweetDreamersTV  Год назад +1

      That's correct @Nicole. Great question @Athays World, it seems strange but the safest option is to keep a clear cot. Baby will be fine one the mattress 😊 A good way to remember this is the safe sleep ABCs.
      Always place your baby ALONE to sleep
      On their BACK (feet to the foot of the cot)
      In a CLEAR Cot, Crib or sleep space. - no duvets, no pillows, cot bumpers, no sleep positioners or wedges, no soft toys or loosely fitted sheets/blankets.

    Tried this. As soon as I turn them upright on my chest to get my hand behind her head she instantly wakes up.
    And when I lower her down with my hand under her neck and butt she arches her back cause now there’s no support there.
    And if I do make it all the way down to the bottom of the crib, she startles.
    Nightmare.

      This video is not super great since it's not a real baby..... But the concept works with some practice. For me, I had to remember to use my non dominant hand to support my eldests rear, and I'd rock him to sleep using that forearm as his back support, and my non dominant hand to support his hips. When he got sleepy after nursing and rocking, I'd place my dominant hand under his neck/noggin, then rock for another minute before lowering him down. It still took us nearly 8mo to get him into a regular sleep routine, but knowing he felt safe was more important to us tgan the time it took to help soothe him if he startled. Kiddos are just extremely codependent the first 3yrs. It takes time... and what works for me may not work for you. My 2nd was a completely different deal! Anyways, from one mom to another, you got this!! I'm absolutely rooting for you! Your intuition is usually spot on, so listen to your instincts, and don't be afraid to take a break or ask for help. ❤

    • @SweetDreamersTV
      @SweetDreamersTV  Год назад

      Hello @s t a r r, thank you for your question - it really depends on your baby's age. Safe sleep advice is for you to always place your baby on their back as part of their sleep routine.
      But what happens when your baby starts to roll over onto their tummy during their sleep?
      The first few times you may want to gently roll your baby onto their back. Don't feel like you have to stay up all night doing this.
      Once your baby can roll from back to front, and roll back over again by themselves, they can be left to find their own sleep position.
      Hope this helps 💕
