You are welcome and thanks for your comment. To the question: I cannot giveyou a precise answer, yet. But I started working on this topic. Your question comes down to the question of flange distance. I have checked my adapter combinations and discovered that there are some differences. - The Nikon FTZ II adapter has a flange distance of 31,5mm - Neewer ETZ and an Leica R to E-mount adapter has 30,8mm - ttartisan M-Z and Leica R to M-Mount adapter have 30,5mm Of course the shorter the adapter, the closer comes infinity. Very interesting. Did you try trap focus on your Nikon Zf? It's pretty easy to set up on your camera. 1. a6: AF Activation > [AF‑ON only] > [Out-of-focus release] > [Disable] 2. a2: AF-S Priority Selection > [Focus] To take a photo, you first need to keep pressing the shutter-release button all the way down, and then turn the focus ring until the camera instantly take the photo when your subject is in focus. It works great on any autofocus lens when used on manual focus. It should also work with this Neewer adapter, and it's the fastest way to manually focus on Nikon camera.
Hi there, yes, I also tried the focus trap a while ago and it worked really well. Very nice function, which makes the life as manual focusser much easier. :-)
Hello, Great analysis and research-thank you very much! I have a quick question about adapting older Nikon lenses (AI, AIS). Will the Neewer or Magadep stack-up dump F to Z adapter support manual aperture stop-down for Nikon aperture priority metering? I'm currently using the Viltrox FTZ mount, which supports the lens's maximum aperture but does not allow for stop-down. I suspect it always shoots wide open and ignores the camera's command dial for aperture stop-down..
Hello Chany, Yes, you can also use any dump adapter for Nikon F Mount with AI and AIS lenses, but you will also don´t get actual readings of the apperture Setting into your camera. You can manually adjust the value on your camera, to fit the Apperture setting. But I also figured out, that there are some Problems to higher apperture Numbers and the Nikon will start to overexpose images, even if Number in Camera and Apperture setting on the lens are the same. The TT-Artisan Adapter only allows Values up to f/5.6, I think because of this reason. With the Neewer Adapter I also would call f/4 to f/5.6 the maximum I can set on the Camera. Beware, that with the Megadap Adapter you dont get manual focus confirmation with green boxes on the camera. These I only found with the Newer and TT-Artisan Adapters.
@@manugeee Thank you for the quick response. The adapter I use (Virtrox) can not even set the aperture in the camera; it basically uses a wide-open aperture, and the camera sets the shutter speed to balance the exposure. This means the crippling of the lens's ability to stop down for better performance; this is bad. However, I am unsure if this is the Viltrox problem or if Nikon FTZ will allow stop-down metering. I do not really care about the EXIF information; I would like to step down to use a lens with the best aperture for performance. Thanks to anyone who had the Nikon FTZ adapter. Can you clarify this?
@@chany16888 I am most of the time in A-Mode, Auto-ISO and with Newer TTArtisan and FTZ II it’s not a problem. The camera easily adjust to correct the exposure.
Not really. The adapter works as i expect it to. The only thing, I noticed, is that when I manually dial in large apertures into the camera, then the camera will overexpose. So I keep the settings in the top mini display of the camera below 5.6. Also the exposure, when the lens is set to large apertures above f11, the camera starts to underexpose 1/3 or 2/3 of a stop. But that not a real dealbreaker and I only notice it when marking aperture series for the videos.
I tried a vintage nikkor lense on a metabones E mount T adapter and adapt it on a Megadapt E to Z v.2. It did not work. Is that because I am using the Megadapt insted the Neewer? Or maybe because of the Metabones? The Megadap does not work satisfatorily in this situation?
Hi mekey, yes, the Megadap does not support the focus confirmation. I dont have the metabones, so I cannot tell you about this one. Also the Nikon FTZ adapters dont support this confirmation function with the AI-S and other non CPU lenses, which is a little bit of a shame. I found so far the Neewer ETZ and the TTartisan M-Z adapter to support this function. Megadap is on the other hand good for Sony AF lenses on Nikon cameras.
