This was such a fun tour of all those hidden gems! I love how each one was so thematic. Also glad to see Shizuka appears to have recovered from losing her voice
This was fantastic, what a blast. I would really enjoy this even at my age. Shizuka you are incredible, thanks so much for sharing these unique fun places.
Great content as usual and Shizuka is always fun to embark on the journey with! Thanks for all the tips, I'm always looking for new things to do in Tokyo! :)
OMGGG loving all these hidden cafes!! Esp the last one 😍😍 It's definitely the kind of place I would never get bored going to with all the different seating areas... I wish my country has hidden cafes too ☹️
Last one was really a thing! I will save this video on my favourites as I like to travel to Tokyo during summer holidays. I need to try one of those places, definitely! Thanks a lot for this video 🥰
I am so glad I found this channel, it's awesome! So hard to find good authentic content without it being clickbait-y or over the top. P.S. does anyone know the rooftop where Shizuka was in the intro? I'd love to go there :)
I love all three restaurants, it’s too hard to decide. I really like the entrance to Igu & Peace and the way you pushed that iguana to open the bookshelf door 🦎
As always another great Shizuka vlog liked the skeleton in the bath 😊 Gotta love it Shizuka “ I’m having a party but on my own “ has camera crew with her lol 😂
You are so lucky to travel for work and try different culinary delights i would definitely enjoy your company with dinner my favourable dish was the beef and sea urchin and then all the rest looked delicious
I went to Igu&Peace last year and had such a great time. Staff was the best and we only went for cocktails but they even gave us a free dessert. I'll be going back again next month! Great video. Definitely wanna try the first location MichinaKimichi.
Awesome episode on hidden Tokyo bars! For added intrigue and mystery, consider hiding the video cleverly to match the theme. I would suggest that Shizuka hides the video in her backpack inside a Pokemon USB stick (I know for sure she has one of those)! Keep it up! 🤪😉😄😽
Heard about your channel on my flight with ANA. They have a video of your scallop journey in their travel directory. Glad to have the algorithm bring me back in.
All the three Izakaya restaurants were so cool Shizuka! It was amazing how you were able to find the entrance to the restaurants. Kanpai to you but I've always wondered how you stay sober. I would have been plastered!
I like Japan’s cozy neighborhoods, they got very low crime rate, all the eateries looks like they got characters, places that I would go to eat and hang out with family and friends, great food, and the streets and places are clean.
Absolutely Loved that you had to open a refrigerator door to get into this bar, even loved more seeing your 1ST reaction. The Cheese quesadilla looks so yummy and delicious. Welcome to your magical world open the vending machine go in and close it. Cheers on a double shot of tequila to start your meal. Yum meatballs. Insert for the next hidden bar.Where could it be??I also would have tried the soda machine. Welcome to the entrance of Hogwarts. Love the dining room with the skeleton. Awesome glowing drink in the treasure box. Yum coconut. I was extremely surprised when the waiter said Chicago. Extra cheese pizza looks so delicious and yummy. Absolutely Loved Every Second // Absolutely Outstanding From Start To Finish
We love "Backstreet Culture" in big cities of Japan. We always advise travellers from Australia and New Zealand to make sure to walk on backstreet. Unlike some tourist destinations in other countries, backstreet is "off the beaten path". . Thank you Shizuka for highlighting this!
You’re one of a kind. Your experiment you try different things different sushi items different drinks believe me there’s nobody like that here in Southern California I love all your videos
I subscribed to your channel today. I love Japan. I had a wonderful time when I went there, and I wish I could go again. I probably don't have enough info for you to find it, but there's a bar, I think in Kabukicho, in one of those alley sized streets. The entrance looks like part of a wooden wall. If you look closely, there's a section of wall that looks kind of like a Dutch door, but only the bottom opens, and you have to duck to get in. I wish I had more info, but that's all I've got. I love the food in Japan, including the konbini food. (However, being from Chicago, I wasn't crazy about Japanese pizza). Looking forward to your next food adventure.
Can't believe I didn't go to the Michinakimichi place when I was there last August, I'll be sure to go there when I land this year in September! I did go to igu&peace and loved their vibe and especially the food! They have an extensive menu! I didn't have time to go to MOSS last time but 200 yen happy hour is insane - I will definitely go there too.
I wonder if there are a lot more speakeasy bars all around Tokyo and the big cities. Love their ideas and concepts. Always interesting to see a Japanese take on these speakeasy bars.
whoa that vending machine at the second one even had american spirit brand cigarettes which is a niche brand to the pacific northwest. thats incredibly esoteric levels of dedication to authenticity for a door LOL. massive respect to that for sure,.
For the life of me I can’t locate any info regarding Michinakimichi anywhere on the web, You Tube, etc. is the place still around? Hate to go over there and find it’s gone under. Thx
second bar & food looked awesome btw i heard of a tiny restaurant in Tokyo in just basically a living room. Mum makes food and i guess son is serving it entertaining with hand puppets. Sounded quite interesting. Maybe you guys can somehow find them.
Haha I actually did not know in advance at all! Our producer took me to the general area where each bar would be and had me try to figure out where it was. That said, once you get close enough it gets a lot easier to guess which one is likely to be the special door to the bar. 😆
Shizuka, I hope that when you have an assignment like this you organize a meet up with friends at the end (or from the start), otherwise it feels like a bit of a waste somehow... (archetypical arts college student hang-out vibes all around, btw)
Okay I'm a sucker for hidden bars. I'll be in Tokyo in September, I'm going to have to try some of these🥃🍷🍹🍶......+10 for recognizing Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn.... Can you name the movie?
I've got three evenings in Tokyo...I'll try one of the places and maybe a robot place, but I would prefer to eat Japanese food since I'm in Japan.. The 3 hidden places all look good, but that FONDUE PIZZA LOOKS AMAZING! (Igu)
Such a pleasure to be able to embark on this entertaining exploration with Shizuka! They’re keeping the speakeasy tradition alive japanese style
Thank you so much!
My week is not complete without another episode of Japan By Food.
So glad to hear that!
Whoever did the description and even added Google Map links is da real mvp.

These videos are such vibes. The way it's shot and the music that accompanies it and with Shizuka's cheery demeanor. It's all good.
Glad to hear that!
I love all three restaurants, it’s too hard to decide. I really like the entrance to Igu & Peace and the way you pushed that iguana to open the bookshelf door 🦎

Wish we had more of these kinds of places at home, very cool 😎
So much fun!

Gotta love it Shizuka “ I’m having a party but on my own “ has camera crew with her lol 😂
We can't really participate until the very end TT It is still fun tho!
You are so lucky to travel for work and try different culinary delights i would definitely enjoy your company with dinner my favourable dish was the beef and sea urchin and then all the rest looked delicious

Shizuka keeps the good vibe always, going to Japan again in May and we will eat and drink in some of her recommended places... 😋
Let us know how you like it!
The places are amazing. I can hardly wait to try and "Find" these hidden gems
Have fun!
These are always great to watch. The first place was my favorite because of the refrigerator door but really enjoyed the overall theme.
Glad you like them!
Thank you for this videos. I have something new to visit when we go back to Japan. By the way I love your jacket. As always you are so pretty.

For real! These are amazing!
You're a trooper Shizuka! Tequila shot and over powering uni at Moss. I can see myself hanging out at Igu & Peace.
These places are a lot of fun!
So creative and fun! They all look awesome and worth checking out, but the iguana bar was my favourite. Greetings from a fellow Scorpio. :D
Greetings to you too! Iguana bar was a great find!

Thank you so much for subbing! We will take you on even more amazing adventures!
I like the one with the vending machine. There’s literally a window that’s open that you can see into the restaurant.
Awesome. Was finding the entrance live? If not, that was good acting 😊
Real of course;)
Beautiful 😍❤️🤩❣️💕💞🥰
Thank you! Cheers!
Can you show some of the places that are more handy capable accessible.
I can eat your typical easy chopstick foods, but a quesadilla?! That’s next level. 😂👏👏👏
:D
Can't believe I didn't go to the Michinakimichi place when I was there last August, I'll be sure to go there when I land this year in September!

Oh My I love Japan
And need to go back !!
also that is a seedless jalapeño at that second place
Come! Come!
whoa that vending machine at the second one even had american spirit brand cigarettes which is a niche brand to the pacific northwest. thats incredibly esoteric levels of dedication to authenticity for a door LOL. massive respect to that for sure,.
American Spirit cigarettes are still sold in Japan. There are usually called "AME-SUPI (アメスピ)."
Love that little roof top. You need your own Netflix show. Yea, Japan has those little hidden spots. Totally. lol
Hehe, love it too!
They all look like a lot of fun, but Igu&Peace was definitely the most out-of-the-ordinary looking. Wonder what Shizuka;s favorite was.
All of them were so unique!
For the life of me I can’t locate any info regarding Michinakimichi anywhere on the web, You Tube, etc. is the place still around? Hate to go over there and find it’s gone under. Thx
The location is in the description:)
7:34 So Dominican Rum is also popular in Japan! 🔥
Do they have english menus too?
second bar & food looked awesome
btw i heard of a tiny restaurant in Tokyo in just basically a living room. Mum makes food and i guess son is serving it entertaining with hand puppets. Sounded quite interesting. Maybe you guys can somehow find them.
:O Wow gotta check that out!
If you like these type of bars then you need to visit the Amazon Club in Yokohama
Mmmm! Mmmm!
Lmao painfully noticeable that she knows where these are…
Haha I actually did not know in advance at all! Our producer took me to the general area where each bar would be and had me try to figure out where it was. That said, once you get close enough it gets a lot easier to guess which one is likely to be the special door to the bar. 😆
Shizuka san is super beautiful as always 😍
She is!
Big fan. Would love to meet you in person. Love from Nepal.
Thank you!
I'm a Scorpio too! November 10th. I need to try the Scorpio drink. It looks delicious!
"is that a giant iguana?" 15:13 bro thats a T.rex lmao
how do they made the cocktail glow? 😯
You are asking the right questions!
04:58 - Is that Wakanohana?
Shizuka, I hope that when you have an assignment like this you organize a meet up with friends at the end (or from the start), otherwise it feels like a bit of a waste somehow...
(archetypical arts college student hang-out vibes all around, btw)
There is a team of people working on these shoots, so we usually chill at the end of the shoot while finishing all the food. No waste on byFood:)
Okay I'm a sucker for hidden bars. I'll be in Tokyo in September, I'm going to have to try some of these🥃🍷🍹🍶......+10 for recognizing Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn.... Can you name the movie?

Same!
She's so beautiful 😍😘🥵🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎🤎
Would love to visit these places but I‘m not speaking Japanese (not to mention reading…)
I wouldn’t know what and how to order 😅
Just ask for "OSUSUME" ( recommended) and go with the flow:D
YOOOOOOO THE CAMERAMAN NEEDS TO RELAX LMAO @ 3:24
gotta please the audience!
I've got three evenings in Tokyo...I'll try one of the places and maybe a robot place, but I would prefer to eat Japanese food since I'm in Japan.. The 3 hidden places all look good, but that FONDUE PIZZA LOOKS AMAZING! (Igu)
