My favorite part was when he said “it’s graining time” and then jasoned everywhere
"compositionally, who gives a shit" is my new favorite self-critique
Hey Jason, I got my first film camera 6 days ago, you being a big part of me getting into it. Can't wait to be better than you, shouldn't be too hard.
had me in the first half, i cannot lie
I found this video very pheasant on the eyes.
Orange you proud of yourself. Well you should be.
Pheasant indeed
On lunch. Thanks for the video papi.
Same 👌
cheers guys
The thing I like about orange filters is that it desaturates the scene to your eye, and makes it easier to focus on contrast and shape. I find I get better shots with a colour filter on when shooting B&W because I'm less distracted by colour when everything looks minion yellow
I enjoy the idea of doing a series trying a different color filter each time.
Seconded.
Speaking of fine arts. There was a brief moment where in Southeast Michigan, you could find Flint Institute of Arts shirts that read "F.ARTS". Did I ever buy one? No. Do I regret not buying one? Not really. But I'm glad they exist.
Time for my Thursday hit of photography, comedy and existentialism.
lol, alt thumbnail at 11:53 got me 😂
"We are just brains floating in a void" sums up everything. Thank you for another great video.
@10:00 wedding photography -- war photography
marriage -- martial
There is little difference.
"blue is complementary to orange so it gets rejected like me on prom night." I love your style, great videos! I, too, find orange to be a great general purpose filter for black and white.
An orange filter on a Holga will blow your mind!
Hey Jason, I like playing your videos when I am coding and writing my fxxxk essay. If it wasn't for you, I'd have finished my thesis hahahahaha
“did I ruin it?” lol
Orange is cool!
We use red on those white puffy cloud days at the beach!
Next time stack all the filters on-top of one another to create the illustrious "black filter," would really improve your photos :)
Orange you glad this video isn’t about pushing Kentmere 400 four stops?
(feeling pretty good about this comment)
I just bought a yellow filter and now you gotta drop this video :D
this is commitment - like a prom dress coming off on a saturday night
Wow so trippy to see you shooting in my small unknown hometown of the imperial valley, awesome video!
These videos are so fantastic. The only film i ever shoot is fuji 400 on an old nikon point and shoot but watching these videos is so chill and inspiring. Keep up the great work.
My favourite bit was when he never reads the comments
Ooooohhhhh look!! It's a grainy day!! Yaaay!
Well this settles it, Jason’s spirit animal is a pleasant pheasant *insert cooing bird noises here*
Dune reference? Jason-al-gaib!
Google has offered to translate this for me 😂
I like that the first thing he does is shoot something with no blue whatsoever.
best psychotherapy channel on the internet.
For a few years now I actually haven't used coloured filters and only recently realised I was making a huge mistake not using any. This video will no doubt reinforce that.
Enjoyed the video! I assume part of your video was shot in and around El Centro, CA...have a good weekend!
I use it to compansate for modern LED lights around everywhere these days. Some of those cast so much blue, it looks like in a morgue otherwise.
pheasant video, as always
Can't wait to get the signature PolarPro Pheasant filter
I prefer using a black and or white filter but this works too
uh, existentialism from Jason, something I did not expect to see today :)
Orange filter: "I neutralize blue colors!"
Jason: let's shoot with it in the desert, bitches..."
I really wish i lived closer to a decaying urban hellscape.
So have you binned off the PrimeFilm XA Plus 35mm scanner these days and gone fully digital for 35mm scans? Would happily watch an update on your workflow.
The thing that i like alot about this channel is the colorgrading bro it’s on a another level
Which camera do you use for videos?😊
What a pheasant, I mean pleasant video.
The thumbnail at the end 😂😂
You ARE an original!
Nice video. Thank you
already a classic
When I started shooting landscapes 60 years ago, I used a yellow filter, because that's what the book recommended. Later, I was drawn to the dark side, and tried to use a red filter whenever possible. After about 25 years, I reached his conclusion regarding use of the orange filter. I like the drama of a red filter, but dealing with its tonal distortions when making the print is often too much hassle.
You're probably going to need a blue sky. That LA muddy green lung cancer sky isn't getting cut enough.
Your right shoulder and elbow are higher than the left ones in the standing talking shots
the music throughout this video is sick wtf
P(h)easant photos all around
The Leica R mount lens to Nikon F is mint. Curious as to which adapter your using?
in the “recent pickups” vid, he did a full on mount swap on the lens
An 85B filter will also work and then you will have a filter to shoot tungsten film outdoors. Two for one use.
Chem-mem-coctail, yum
I would love more of this. I know nothing about filters
Your coffee will really suck if you dont use one...
EMBRACE CHAOS! I forget to clean my filters too.... so yea.
For the comparison shot at the start it seems like there is more contrast between the sky (blue) and the sand (orange), but less contrast in the sandy areas with the filter (the shadows look flatter). Am I snorting your drift?
Ooh baby, fresh off some sfx 200 without a filter…now i want to try a tiffen rose filter on it next tho 👀
are there any videos that compare different colored filters in different images? its a very interesting subject but feels very difficult to find relevant information about
Photography books have that kind of information.
7:27 are those holes bullet holes?
I enjoy your videos and was wondering if it is possible to use aperture priority mode 'A' when using leica lenses on a Nikon body. I am now considering a leica 28mm and would like to know if there are any problems with aperture priority mode and focus. I currently have the f3 and am debating between the nikon 28mm ai-s and the leica 28mm. I'm worried that was a bit of a stupid question.
Are we going to talk about you rocking leica glass on your nikon? Leica r lens adapted?
Black and White photography with a tungsten (purple) filter?
Hey, who are you calling a Shady Back Alley Photographer! :)
This was a very pheasant wine drunk video, thanks papi
bro you're getting older lmfao but still looking good af
A 4 by 3 video - that's nice! I'm a bit old-style and still don't understand why 16:9 (or even wider aspect ratios) has gotten to the only format left. For movies - yes, indeed! But for content that's not about movies? Why panorama all the time when images are mostly 3:2, 4:3 or 5:4?
I guess if you watch on phones without the big top and bottom bezels, 2.39:1 is really great especially in a dark room. Its mostly about how the space is used. 4:3 always holds a special place in my and your heart though.
yesssss baby
Did my comment on your previous video get cut? I was just mentioning a few things that stood out. I am not sure what's up with RUclips sometimes. I have to say, sorry, but I was into the B-roll more. Taking photos of junk. I don't know how you guys do it. Not that the photos were bad.
Mr.Fish is backk
can you look at the lomomatic 110? it's my first film camera apart from polaroids and i need someone to tell me what a horrible decision i made
My toxic trait is shooting a roll of of T-Max 400 and thinking in Ansel Adams
I was just thinking about black and white with an orange filter what the hell
Mahdi!
Baxter.
Hi! Nice video… What about Lomo Purple next time???????????
Where in The People's Republic of Kaliphornia are all these abandoned towns?
Jason, i always wandering, what kind of video gear do you use? What camera and light
What if instead of grainydays it was freakydays and instead of shooting 35mm film with an orange filter he shot freaky film with a freaky filter.
Position available!
Do orange filter on colour film next. I bet you won't
Hmm. I just got an orange filter yesterday. Perhaps the algorithm is spying on me. Man how I wish I could get 12:18 back to my life. I'm wondering if you have to be wide open to use such a filter or if it's just personal preference. I mean, I'm not judging...much. Well, that's it. I have some important war photography waiting on me.
why no paralax photo at the end
Nice Bro. What kind of lens are you using?
How would an Apple filter compare?
It could make a-peeling photos, but only for the thin-skinned folks. And only edited on Macs.
apaka warm
You are original because you post your bangers on instagram, get a million likes and the delete the post
The soundtrack goes offfff
What happened to your DP-12 prism on the F2
"layered shot 🤌🤌"
Nice
Imagine ortho with a red filter 😩
Came here from Peter Mckinnon
Listen dude, why paint out the graffiti? How we gonna know what gangs to avoid in that area? Sheesh. Cool shit man.
Hey, its been 9 days..
How many images of foul-smelling abandoned buildings do you have?
I just canceled my date with my wife to watch this.
Frist!
Did you keep saying "pheasant" because you think your images are for the birds? And if so, wouldn't it be better to use a Seagull?
3:06 clicking off to go watching something else
the pegging line was a lot
