Mike, great to see Your doing this engine swap. I have a 1966 CM91. Pretty much the same bike as this one. Lucky for me the original 90cc engine was fine. When purchased in December of 2019, it had 888 original miles on it. I ride it 2 or 3 times a week and have put 700 miles on it without any problems. Thanks for the videos.
great video. I would love to see you do a hot rod/custom bike some day. I know its not really your thing but would be cool to see. Maybe a crazy paint colour and a 190 motor.
Hi Mike, I have done this engine swap before, you will need to file/shave a bit from the frame at the rear as the lifan/Honda 90 engines are slightly bigger, you will see what I mean when you come to fit the engine :)
Hey Mike , I bought a CT 70 roller. So I need a complete motor. Is there any Chinese motors that look identical (or close) until I can find a original motor. The ones I have seen both side cases look way different
Lifan used to make a 90cc engine that was spot on identical to the Honda 70cc, but unfortunately, no longer available. No, I’m not aware of any engine that matches the original in shape and color currently.
Hello, I have a C100, which is basically the same save electric start. I think. Same push rod 50 cc engine etc. Because I can’t find a decent replacement carb, I am in the midst of putting a chines clone engine in mine as well. I opted for a 125cc.
At the time I was building this bike, the only 125’s available were manual transmission. This bike didn’t have a handle perch on the left bar, so I really wanted a semi-auto and the only thing available was the 110cc. It still sends the bike around 53-55mph, which is plenty.
@@MiniBikeMike my engine, because it’s all I could find. Is a 125….3 speed with reverse. And electric start. I’m not finished yet. But it ought to be interesting indeed. And I’m sure, it will go faster and have more power than the original. Just hope I don’t snick reverse….at 40 mph! Ha ha ha I was looking at the 125 non electric start….but, yes…they all had manual clutches. Save all that original stuff. It might be worth something, someday.
@@Vaz_DeFerenz mine does not have a clutch. So I ordered just the basic throttle tubes. I found a piece of pipe (conduit) cut a slot in it lengthwise , spread it out, and glued it on the tiny diameter handle bars, so the new throttle and grip would fit correctly.
@@MiniBikeMike Ok .Thank you ! ..i just had mopeds before also 50cc towstroke..and they are rubber mounted every of these 2s. mopeds ..also all of the new Chinese scooters .
Another cool project. Thanks for sharing brother.

I’ve built a custom or two, I might revisit one of them.

Enjoy the different projects that you post. Any ideas on restoring the plastic fenders?
Thanks. Not really. I cleaned mine up the best I could, but definitely wouldn’t call them restored.

Thanks!
hey man. i just got a lifan 125 for my 65 honda c102. ill be following closely my friend.
Awesome. Thanks for watching. I’m still waiting on a wiring harness from Trail Buddy, then I’ll post up video #2 on this build.

@@MiniBikeMike that is the one i got. I watched that video where you showed hooking it up. Good stuff.
Just wondering Mike as it's electric start is it 12-volt electrics already worth checking the battery and seeing
The battery I pulled out was a 6v battery. I guess I should have looked at bulbs. It will get a new wiring harness and all new bulbs.
6v
@@MiniBikeMike I'll be waiting to see the harness installation and which one you use. I'm struggling on mine.

hey i have a 4 speed chinese 125cc engine i just mounted in my '68 c100. not sure what throttle and clutch cables i need to get,

You can use a clutch cable from a 4 speed CT70.
Can you tell me where you buy the new engines?
eBay, Amazon…..whoever has them in stock at the time.
Mike do you have a link for what engine you used in this one? Thanks!

Yes, I believe the engine mounting bolts are the same.

Why is the engine not rubber mounted on these bikes ?
Single cylinder, very little vibration. Are any bikes with a less than 500cc engine rubber mounted?
