I was 3 when this episode aired on the radio, and some of my earliest memories are of listening to this show. There were all manner of people on it, who were then unknowns, from what I heard Peter Brough wanted to give comedy hopefuls a break on the show.
My claim to fame, was when I worked at Heathrow Airport during that scorchingly hot summer of ‘76, I had the “PRIVELEGE” of searching Julie’s personal handbag when she went through our passenger security check when I worked for Securicor 🧐
My mum said I fell asleep on her pregnant tummy throughout that heatwave. The summer of 2003 was really hot, too, I asked her if it was like 1976 & how she felt carrying a baby through it - she said 1976 was worse & it was flippin' 'orrible! I'd so loved to have met Dame Julie, so I'm a wee bit jealous of that, what was she like? As gracious & charming as you expected? I'd be so shocked if she was rude! America has a gift in her living there, since 1954, I just read. I'll always love her.
It's hard to believe that the BBC actually thought a ventriloquist was a suitable programme for the radio. It's about as sensible as Enrico Caruso making a silent movie.

Thank you.❤️❤️❤️
Hard to believe that's Tony Hancock as the cinema commissionaire.

Do you have the version where Julie sings more opera pieces/coloratura like Love is Where you find it? Thanks!
Another showcase for Julie's early coloratura skills, complete with a big high D at the end!
So this is who the Duchess of Sussex named her son after.
I thought it said executing archie
