As a man when I see gray hair on a woman the first thing I think is confidence. NOTHING to me is more attractive than confidence. Usually with confidence comes happiness, strength and honesty. You made a fantastic decision, you look wonderful. Please convince more women to take your path.
Wow! Thank you for this! I've been debating on letting it all go. It's been a struggle because of our culture and conditioning to fall into the trap of youthfulness. I'm screenshoting your amazing comment!
This is a great story and one I identify with totally. I have been natural since the middle of the pandemic. Just got tired of coloring it, which I used to do at home. Now that I am retired, I hate to make appointments so don’t want to go to a salon or do it myself. Result: Natural hair, curls and all!
You look stunning! I find it amazing how much better women's natural hair color compliments their complexion. The dye starts to look harsh and 'false'. The fear of going gray is funny in retrospect, because the natural color actually results in a younger look. I'm about 6 or 7 month in and can now wait for the ret to grow out!
I have not colored my hair in 3 months. I am done coloring! I have been coloring since my late 20's and am now in my 60's. I am ready to be myself no matter what anyone thinks. Thank you for the video!!
Great video! I stopped coloring almost 20 years ago at the age of 40. It was the smartest thing I’ve ever done. I began coloring at 15. My naturally dark brown hair had about a 1” stripe of gray come out of nowhere. I was mortified. This was like 1978 so it was not a cool thing. I colored from 15 until 40. My mom colored her hair even longer. She died of breast cancer in 2014. There’s a study that showed a connection to hair coloring and breast cancer. After learning all of that, I was even more happy that I had stopped using it. I also use paraben free, sulfate free, no silicons, etc, My hair has never been so healthy. Thank you for your video! You look beautiful.
You look absolutely gorgeous and younger, refreshed. I’m 2.5 months into it, I have my moments when I’ve questioned but quickly come to my senses and empowered. Thanks for sharing your journey.
That's my plan. I've about 1½ inches grey/white roots sitting on a head of dark brown dyed hair (I resemble a bald eagle). I'm still wearing a hat when I go out! As soon as hairdressers reopen next month I'm planning on having all the coloured hair cut out, reshaped into a short cut, and finally I'll be my natural grey/white at the age of 52. It feels liberating! I can't wait!
I'm looking to go shorter...the 2 colors I have now is super ugly...can only wear hats so long! All these stories help me during this ugly stage. lol thank you!
It will be two years in March. I had to travel quite a distance to my hairdresser and I was sick of it. I went cold turkey from medium brown. I got many negative comments from coworkers and almost perfect strangers. I kept thinking how lucky I was to be old enough to not care what other people think. My good friends were supportive. I wanted to see what my hair really looked like. If I hated it, I still had options. It turns out I'm not entirely gray. I wish I was. Still I'm happy and my hair is so much healthier.
Your hair looks amazing ...I think silver really suits so many women ... I stopped colouring my hair at 59 and I absolutely love it ... wish I’d done it sooner ‼️
I’m 61. I stopped coloring my gray in my early 40’s. I didn’t have the money to sit in the chair every couple of weeks to have my color touched up. I was tired of living up to everyone else’s expectations of trying to look like I was still in my 20’s. I embraced my gray. Best decision I ever made. Now my friends tell me they feel trapped in their dark hair-they feel they can never stop. Women will stop me in a store and tell me they love the color of my hair (silver/pearl) and wish they were brave to wear their hair gray. I tell them to go for it! It is so freeing!! 👩🏻🦳
I absolutely love how your natural hair makes you look youthful, it’s softer and not severe like dyed hair. I stopped three months ago and wish I’d stopped when the pandemic started, I’d be so much further along. Thank you for sharing for inspiration!
You look fabulous :-) At about 40 I did turn from black to gray and than white, all unpigmented hair. Now I am getting 65 soon and accepted how it looks. Greetings from Switzerland.
It was wonderful to see your transformation Sarah!! Even I always left the salon with the freshly dyed dark hair, feeling sad, like a fake. That really got me down. Now , six months dye free at the ugly stage with both dark and gray starkly defined colours on my head-I feel more beautiful and confident, than I ever did with my unreal dark dyed hair☺️
I am five month in and am so happy. I think the hardest time is the first three to four months. After that, I was really looking forward to seeing my gray growing out. I think my biggest problem was that I never knew the amount of gray I had given that I did the roots very frequently. Now I feel free, happy, empowered, confident and younger too.
@@sherryk6703 So happy for you! Enjoy your journey! It only gets better! Here, now that it's been 16 months, even the people who weren't too supportive of me going grey earlier, are complimenting on the transformation! Plus the icing being, I have managed to inspire another friend to ditch the dye 🌟
I did the same thing transitioned my hair and let the silver gray come out and now I'm all silver completely and I like it I don't have to dye it I don't do anything to it anymore and it's god-given.
My gosh.... with dark hair you look nice, but with silver hair you are breathtakingly beautiful. You would stand out in a crowd! Those eyes! I did the "transition" a few years back too. Never looked back. If I look anywhere near as great as you, I'm happy!
Thank you so much for posting. I am 48 years old, every strand of hair on my head has been prematurely white since I was 30 yo. I have been coloring since I was 24yo. I just want to be done already, and be naturally who I am. This women looks so incredible with her natural gray. Just beautiful!
I had grown out my hair grey but I used Nature Tint Light Dawn Blond for years when people at work kept asking me when I was going to retire. Got used to the "blond." The grey didn't hardly show between uses. Finally at 70 I decided to let it grow out grey again. I had let it grow out four months before the pandemic hit. Then with six more months of mostly quarantining I decided to cut it short. The hairdresser gave me a nice short haircut (not super short) that cut off most of the grey. I like the shorter hair. It's a fun change. Glad to be natural again.
Thank you very much for your inspiring video. I am 8 months dye free. I am loving my colors coming in, but it has not been an easy process. I just cut much of the remaining dye yesterday & truly HATE my hair so short! Thank you for your timely video-you look beautiful.
Hairdressers will usually try to talk you out of letting your hair go natural because that means less monthly income for them! LOL I love your natural hair!! I am 54 and doing the same thing. I feel great!!!!!
You look beautiful with your natural hair colour. I did what you did several years ago and at first it brings out all the rude people asking what’s going on with the hair, but now I lost count how many people tell me how lovely my hair is. It’s nice to get a compliment but in truth I don’t care who likes it, I do..
Wow you look amazing with your silver hair. I'm 58 years old and 18 months into just going cold turkey, getting my shoulder length hair cut every 2 months or so. I love my salt and pepper hair and feel so free from the dark brown dye which wasn't suiting me anymore. I love feeling authentic. Thanks for the inspiration.
Covid has given me the courage to 'go grey.' For years I've hated having to color my hair and wondered what my natural color even was. Because I have so little personal contact during Covid, I figured that this would be the perfect opportunity to grow the color out of my hair. As it turns out, I love my grey hair and I've even gone very short with the lowest maintenance cut I've ever had and my husband loves it. He's never made so many complimentary comments on my hair before and he says that he thinks I even look younger. It's totally worth trying out the natural look as you age. I've also noticed changes in my scalp and some hair loss with menopause, and I've found that, along with washing it less, an apple cider vinegar rinse has been very beneficial. By the way, your grey is beautiful!
I'm the same, just wish I'd thought of it as soon as lockdown started, then I'd be further along than 1½ inches! I stick a hat on when I go out as I look ridiculous with white roots against dark brown dyed hair 🤣
Omgosh, you look absolutely gorgeous!!! I am so proud of you! I started transitioning a year ago and I don’t miss the stinky, stinging hair color at all. Thank you for this ❤️
Been all over the color spectrum, from platinum blonde to red, to dark brown cafe espresso. Now I'm seriously considering embracing the gray that's obvious. Very inspired by your video. Thank you.
I stopped blonding and went natural silver gray. Women now ask what I use because they would like to have my color. I love it this way. Surprisingly it looks like the platinum hair I had as a child, but better.
You look So pretty. I love your hair. I am on the same journey since March 2020. Buzz cut and it’s grown out so so much. I am so excited for the end result.
Wow I have just watched your video and I am sitting here crying. I have just dyed my roots black again and wished I hadn’t. 37 years , gosh I hope it’s my last time . Your video was so inspiring thank you so much .
WOW!! You look great.... I feel inspired to follow suit as I’ve been dying my hair black since I was 21 I’m now 57 and I really think I can do this.... Cheers
So awesome! I have been growing my hair out since April 2020. I had a pixie cut so it made it so much easier at times. I'm in the awkward stage right now of what to do with it, as my husband wants to see it longer this way. My two daughters kept telling me to stop coloring my hair. The only positive thing for COVID, staying home to grow my hair out! You are beautiful!
I let my hair grow untill I had 3 inches of white roots, then I got it all cut off in a super short pixie, never looked back since, the freedom of not having to do root touch ups every 10 days is just amazing!
Me too. Have been dithering for a year or so but hair dye just not covering the grey. Fed up seeing patches show through. After watching these fabulous women saying they feel empowered, my mind is made up. In another UK lockdown so I can do it now. Wish I could have a pixie cut which I tend to have but hairdressers closed. So excited to take back control. Good luck to you too
gorgeous!!!I I'm 36 will be 37 in May and I am probably almost 60% or more grey. it grows in so fast. I discovered the "dye strip tech" yesterday so I am going to use that for now until I am fully grey in growth and will be embracing my transition.. You look so much healthier and vibrant with the full grey!! so inspiring!
I have to agree with you! I went prematurely polar bear and wanted my hair to become soft, shiny & healthy again. My scalp & hair are naturally more on the dry side so I quit using chemicals & heat, wash only about once a week and not with shampoo but conditioner. If I feel I need it, I use cowash once a month on my scalp only. I use a wide toothed comb instead of a brush, a silk sleep cap I pile my hair into at night, and microfiber hair towels. The frizz is gone! My hair is soft and shiny. Not going back! I like my natural hair far more and yea, there is definitely more confidence & self appreciation that is spilling over into other areas of my life. Definitely a happy change worth keeping! Your story and photos are very inspiring and made me smile a lot. My own journey isn't complete yet but someday it will be and it gives me something more to look forward to! ^_^
I'm in the same position. I'm about 9 months into growing out my gray. I enjoyed watching you video, especially the transition! It's gave me hope to hang in there. Your end result is absolutely beautiful and I love how you own it!
Beautiful, I took the plunge 2 years ago, my husband still doesn’t like it, but it’s not about him it’s all about me, my daughters absolutely love it .....so glad I did it. Xx
you look stunning with your silver hair. Ive gone back and forth on letting my hair grow out. Every time i dyed it I instantly regretted it. I stopped dying it 3 months ago and im so happy i did. My hair is growing out softer and healthier. Less breakage and my hair is platinum white. I have gotten nothing but positivity from all my friends and family about it. THey say they are excited to see it and tell me im lucky its white cause lots of women pay big bucks to get it that color lol. I feel so free and happy in my decision :)
I m 51 and have shoulder-length hair now going grey. I will not be dying it. Women of a certain age embrace your natural look, it is healthier for you.
I am going to go grey finally at 58yrs of age - time to realise I am supposed to be silver at this age lol - going to help it with strip dying along the roots only to a lighter shade of the dark brown I have been dying my hair for decades - but love the way we are embracing our realness in how we present to the world -
Omg I just ran across your video. When reading the comments, I saw a comment from me. It said, I wish I had the nerve to go grey. We'll guess what? A year and a half later, I am totally grown out grey. So I was brave enough to take the plunge.
What a difference you made going natural - Your gorgeous silver hair really makes your eyes pop! I’m almost 70 and my hair is a deep salt and pepper in the back with a lighter face frame. I’d love a bright silver, but we keep the color in my family - my mom managed to get to an iron gray in her late 80’s.The only artificial color my locks get is a streak of washout magenta and blue for funsies! (Only did it once and about gave my grown up kids a heart attack)😆
Saw this just now. You look absolutely beautiful, so much better than dark hair. Well done from a grey sister (almost completely white now) and loving it. ❤
This was my smooth transition to grey : Began by using a semi permanent color instead of permanent hair color. This washed out gradually so it did not leave any line. Next, as the color faded and turned a lighter brown, i got pale blond highlights. From a distance, you could not tell the blond from the gray coming in. Also, it looked really cool: some blond streaks, some grey, some natural brown hair mixed in.
So inspiring, so beautiful. The most amazing thing is how incredibly beautiful your natural hair is. You natural beauty shines bright. I'm excited about my own journey. Thank you 🩶
Your natural color is gorgeous! Istarted my own grow out 7 months ago and had some highlights put into my brown hair to blend the line. I'm trying to deal with it the way it is, basically three colors. This video helped me to see I should have patience!
I LOVE THIS ,the beginning, the middle, and the end ! Your comments and advise during every stage was uplifting and spot on ! I have been a hairstylist for 40 years, and just a couple days ago I started this journey. But I Cheated and used bleach to get a jumpstart, but now I embracing the silver 🤗 thank you for encouraging me to go for it !
You look fantastic x I hope mine will look as good. Can't wait to grow out my old hair dye. I think it ages me as it has faded to orange and really clashes with my cooler skin tone. I'm looking forward to updating my wardrobe with cooler colours too x
Going grey has taken 15 years off your age. You look fabulous. I can't for the life of me understand why so many women dye their hair instead of going with their natural beauty.
I've decided to let the gray hair grow out as well but I'm using a temporary toner (Fanciful) during the transition period. It's a little bit of a pain but not damaging to my hair at all and looks great.
I like your hair better grey. It makes your eyes pop. They really stand out. I want to do this but at the moment I only have random grey hairs so I don’t know if it would look weird.
Thank you for making this video. I went through a similar process. Brown hair, then heavy highlights, then blonde (liked it at first and then hated it) breakage from highlights and falling out well, not sure why) Yesterday with a 3" grey strip I said to my hairstylist who was very reluctant, can't we just deposit grey hair color on the blonde now? Finally, she did. It looks good but its more of a bluish-gray than a purplish-grey. We cut off 3" to help in the transition. This is perfect way for me because it perfectly blended with my root color and will continue to grow out to that natural color. I think I am going to do a purple conditioner to add a little of that tone until it grows out some more. Us silver gals gotta stick together out here.
Very nice! I am transitioning to grey as well. It has been 3 months now. I am not fully grey but salt and pepper with the pepper actually being an ash brown-blonde color. You actually look much better with the grey hair than you did with the brown. Well done!
I love natural hair. Without fail, everyone who I see that has gone from dyed to natural silver looks better. I love not having to worry about roots in a week! Now when I see pics of me from my "dyeing" days I think it looks harsh and unnatural. I think your hair is just gorgeous! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for sharing your journey. Gives me confidence to transition my hair from coloring my hair to my natural color. I can't wait to see what is under years of color.
Your Natural Color is Gorgeous!!!!!! You are beautiful! Thank You for sharing of your experience!! Im about 6 inches into my natural color and I'm totally shocked how much dark is actually still there - It's not brown - ITS A Gorgeous Dark Gray ... along with the white !!!! Whooo Hoooo Hair adventure! Thank You for the Encouragement !!!
Beautiful! I wore my hair super short, dyed brown for years. Hello pandemic. I have quite a selfie collection of my hair raising journey. I now have below the chin, gray curly hair. Very liberating, I love it all.
I started my transition on 23/9/20! All the time I feel a little disheartened I go look in the mirror cause I find it fascinating! 🥰 U look fabulous xx
Thanks for popping up on my feed! I have decided to stop dying my hair. Since COVID happened a year ago, I have dyed and cut my own hair twice. In between I have had gone to a salon twice to dye and cut my hair. My last DIY dye was back in the fall of 2020. Thanks!
Girl, you look bright, young and beautiful! I am 48 and have just cut my last dyed strands. Can't wait to have such a pretty hairdo as yours : ) Best wishes from Poland : )

Good luck to you too
It not outgrow that fast as in this video, it's not true. I stopped dye my hair in july 2020 and it's about 5 cm now?
Gorgeous natural colour ..
Her skin glows now!!!
gorgeous!!!I I'm 36 will be 37 in May and I am probably almost 60% or more grey. it grows in so fast. I discovered the "dye strip tech" yesterday so I am going to use that for now until I am fully grey in growth and will be embracing my transition.. You look so much healthier and vibrant with the full grey!! so inspiring!
What is the "dye strip tech" please ?
Went Grey at 62. 3 years later and no regrets. Lots of compliments and much healthier scalp and hair. I too only wash every 4 days.
I'm 61 and have decided to stop dying my hair. I have beautiful white silver hair and I know it would look fabulous!. Thanks for the inspiration ❤
Thanks! 🙂
Love love love your story. And you look even MORE beautiful with the gray 👍👏👏👏👏🙌
Absolutely gorgeous transformation!! Lovely hair and beautiful happy face!!
This is what I did too. I never had that awkward growing out phase.
Hi! What is your natural colour? I am thinking about going grey and my hair is a very dark brown (with a lot of white hairs in the crown)
Oh WOW ! This woman looks younger with her white hair!!! She is nice with brown hair BUT amazingly beautiful with her natural white hair!!!
Gorgeous 👩🏻🦳💖 8 months in cold turkey. I love my greys coming in
I've decided to let the gray hair grow out as well but I'm using a temporary toner (Fanciful) during the transition period. It's a little bit of a pain but not damaging to my hair at all and looks great.
I like your hair better grey. It makes your eyes pop. They really stand out. I want to do this but at the moment I only have random grey hairs so I don’t know if it would look weird.
If I could go back I would have stopped dying my hair when I first saw greys at 28 and let myself grey naturally.
Your hair is gorgeous! I am not all gray but going for it, anyway! In the beginning of the journey and looking forward to it. Best to you!
You look terrific! Good job letting your natural beauty shine through.
Very pretty. I bit the bullet and went the same route!
looks amazing! the silver looks incredible on you X
I cannot get over how gorgeous your natural color is!!
Without a doubt , you look beautiful with your natural colour . No more chemicals 👍
I am doing the same here! Stopped dyeing my black hair, and now I have whites coming in! Love your video!
I love that you said, "It's your life. Do what YOU want to with your hair!"
Holy moly. Your silver looks absolutely amazing. Thank you for sharing your journey.
I started my transition on 23/9/20! All the time I feel a little disheartened I go look in the mirror cause I find it fascinating! 🥰 U look fabulous xx

My goodness, your silver hair really highlights the beauty of your eyes. You have great eyebrows too!
Love her bright white silver hair ! I'm 2 years in and loving the grey !
Thanks for popping up on my feed! I have decided to stop dying my hair. Since COVID happened a year ago, I have dyed and cut my own hair twice. In between I have had gone to a salon twice to dye and cut my hair. My last DIY dye was back in the fall of 2020. Thanks!
You look beautiful with your gray hair! I am done coloring my hair and I found your video encouraging.
Your silver hair is beautiful. Thank you. I'm five months in it's pretty patchy and peppery but relieved I finally started.
Girl, you look bright, young and beautiful! I am 48 and have just cut my last dyed strands. Can't wait to have such a pretty hairdo as yours : ) Best wishes from Poland : )
