Thanks Irene for being your Authentic Self, I feel many will resonate with your journey to feeling better physically and mentally, kick some peri... menopause's Ass!!! I turned 55 this year, and I am feeling tired, but then I know energy begets energy......I am encouraged by your workout plan! Hoping to start too!!!
Love your attitude on life! Im glad I found your channel. I'm also 44 and have been going through my grey hair journey since the age of 33 with my 2nd pregnancy. I have gotten questions for years on why I've decided to go this route and I simply say I'm not going to put my time and energy trying to fight the Inevitable. Instead im going to embrace it! Watching you gives me the motivation to keep on. I look forward to joining you on your journey through this channel! Happy Thanksgiving !
You’re lowlights came out really nice! Such a bummer to hit the speed bump but onwards and upwards right?!😊 I’m 43 and pretty sure I’m also experiencing perimenopause. The low energy is no fun but I’m looking forward to following your journey for inspiration and ideas how to beat it! Good luck to you and thank you for being so open and honest about your experience it truly helps to know we aren’t alone in this journey ❤
It took me two years to work out menopause symptoms that came on suddenly. Exhaustion and brain fog were my main symptoms and it was horrible. I could not function. After tweaking HRT for two years I landed on low estrogen patches and compound pharmacy progesterone cream. I studied all the safest methods. And oh wow I love it! An added bonus was my life long anxiety greatly reduced in such an obvious way. Just know it takes time to find a combo that works. A Naturopath Doctor who can prescribe is a life saver for sure. Weight gain is always about a 20 lb struggle. I went gluten free and dropped 10 lbs easily. For the other 10lbs it’s good old fashion exercise and low sugar. You can feel normal or even better again. And you’ll be so much healthier for going thru it. Best of luck. You got this! ❤
Same here, went almost entirely sugar free and it cut out a lot of the awful bloating and weight gain. After a month or two I didn't miss sugar, after a lifetime of loving chocolate. If I eat sugar now the bloating comes back and I feel awful.
Pena que não consigo te ouvir em português, acho seu cabelo lindo e você também, estou achando coragem pra deixar os cabelos grisalho, Sri que vai ser difícil, mas tenho que conseguir
I would love to have a menopause chat, it kicked my ass and I have learned so much through suffering. It is my prayer to share to keep others from this experience. My daughters are around thirty and now is the time for them to get the blood panel to have a base level understanding of their hormones. I wish I knew.
Hello! I enjoy your candid and thoughtful decision to grow out your gray, AND to continue to document your health journey. I look forward to your next steps! Thank you for sharing! Was wondering if you could tell me what salon to visited for your color correction? It’s extremely difficult to find a stylist who understands how to create a personalized plan for growing out my natural gray without creating more maintenance! Many thanks! LJ, Charlotte, NC
Hi Irene -love all your videos! You have helped me so much on my journey! I am 5 months in as I was forced to stop the dye due to a sudden allergic reaction at the salon during a routine root touch up. A BUNCH OF MY BLACK WAIST LENGTH HAIR FELL OUT right after the service!!! Thank God it stopped! At first I was sad but now I am happy and looking forward to the final result-my hair feels great and a ton of new hair is growing. Thanks for the constant encouragement your channel brings. God bless you on your new journey and remember "I can do all things through Christ Who strengthens me". Philippians 4:13 🥰
Your hair looks great. You can stay partly dark and partly grey. Its fun and you can enjoy both sides of the play. Change of life is natural and don’t go hard on yourself. It is a rite of passage and celebrate your changing years. Im 62, and are also embracing my natural hair. This is my second round for trying this grow out phase. I discovered a hair colour called Smoky Grey by Brilliance, and use it once a month. It neutralises the brassy discolouring, and slightly lifts my grey. I keep parts of my fringe and bangs dark just to have a contrast and keep it interesting. Love your videos.
Ah girl! Setbacks sting but you look great. I’m 1.5 years no colour and hanging in there. As a 44 year old I,100% will follow your new topics. You are literally telling my identical story😔🇨🇦✌🏻
Your hair looks gorgeous. I would have done the same thing! Perimenopause coupled with hormonal IUD and that tremendous exhaustion brought with it a whopping 37 lbs for me😢. I’ll be following along and cheering you on as I lift my heavy weights and dance. We got this!!! Consistency is key 👊🏻💕
I used to weigh 130 lbs consistently and then I hit menopause and everything changed. My thyroid got messed up, and I had to go on meds and I actually don't know if the meds are making me fat or what. But I am 40 lbs heaver now and exhausted. The only thing I can manage is walking. Anything else drains all my energy. I'm 60 now and I'm really just tired of trying to be cute. Ugh.
@ I know how that is I was there, could barely get out of my chair, no energy and every joint hurt. My doctors kept telling me it wasn’t my iud causing weight gain, I was doing just fine before I got it and had the ability to lose lbs when needed. So I decided to really dive into it and gather my own info on it…and I discovered that 40 lbs is an average gain for many many women. Luckily my hematologist agreed that the iud had to come out and I’ve finally been able to drop a tiny bit of weight. Look into your medication, see if there’s a correlation with those meds and weight gain and what others are doing to get through it. My exercises are a struggle for me but everyday I do them, I feel stronger, less pain and more energy the next day. I always have a 20 minute nap after exercise! This perimenopause is something else!!!
I’m 55 and have late onset menopause so I have been struggling with this for a lot of years. I also have fibroids in my uterus which is another layer of issues. I’m managing this through medication because can’t have surgery because of another health challenge I have. I have gained about 15 lbs and it is really frustrating because my energy level is so low. I’m glad you are documenting your journey because it helps to hear I’m not the only one struggling. Thank you!
Your hair looks great, and Alexa did a really nice job on getting rid of that brown but not ruining your going gray journey! I’m now 8,5 months into my own ditching the dye journey and sometimes I want to give up, I am not really grey just more salt and pepper, but every time I dyed my hair it was too brassy and I don’t want that anymore. I am now 41 years old and what you are saying about the symptoms you’re experiencing with this fatigue and weight gain is something that I’ve been experiencing also for some time now. Really low energy, weight gain, puffy face, having mood swings and feeling overwhelmed and stressed out. I will follow you on your journey and maybe you will set an example for me. Good luck with your health journey 🫶🏼
My growout looks similiar to yours. My sylist added baby lights to my face-frame to blend in with the white and she added a dark, colored-gloss to the rest of my hair. I'm confused with low lights though. . . . is bleach used?
Wow your hair is so thick! Wish I had that much hair! My hair is so thin. You have a beautiful face too! I do like the lighter hair on you. You will look good in all grey.
Hair looks amazing - I am 48 and on birth control pills so I am not experiencing symptoms but I’ve already talked to the doctor about transitioning to bioidentical hormones. I also have to start a new fitness routine. I have gained about 18 lbs myself ❤ looking forward to your future content
Hi Irene Clair Nice to hear from you again after so long...your hair looks great! By the way for premenopousal symtomps, maby look into Bio-identical Hormones..., thats what i did and still do. Best of luck and good workout! 🤩👋
YOUR HAIR!!! I'm so envious...it's beautiful! I'm nearly 59 and have been through menopause and spat out the other side!! In my late 40s i put on so much weight. I cycled 100 miles a week and fasted too much, thinking the fewer calories, the better. Two years ago, i realised it wasnt working!! It took a while for the penny to drop! I started eating more, especially protein (i was eating a can of tuna or some chicken once a day, now i have some protein with each meal). i eat healthy, with a bit of chocolate at the weekend. I don't skip butter or cream or eggs or full-fat yogurts. In other words, i eat everything but mainly whole foods and not too many pastas. I don't avoid rice or pasta but i do measure it if i have it. I cut my beloved cycling by three-quarters and took up resistance training with dumbells at home. It's very simple to do. And it reset my metabolism so my body was comfortable with letting go of some fat. Suddenly it was as though menopause never happened (except my sleep is still disturbed, ugh). I'm telling you all this because, at one point i thought the me i knew, was gone forever (apart from anything else, i was waking up with hormonal headaches most days for a year - it was hideous). But it was just that i wasn't doing the most healthy things for myself, whilst thinking i was!! There is absolutely hope! You can change things up and feel so much better, believe me. I don't do HRT but for some people it's great. Whatever works. Sorry about my typing. The phone keyboard is heinous to use. Go for it. Remember to take enough rest, though. You do need it.
Hello! Thank you so much. I plan on continuing growing it out, this was just a little setback but I’m ok with it. I’d rather have it this way than the brassy color it tired out to be from the damage. 😊❤️
After fully growing out my gray I got bored and put a purple color depositing conditioner on it and even though I know many people use them with no problem, I’m left with my hair being a weird dingy taupe color. I’m sick about it so today I lopped off a few inches and start from scratch regrowing it. I have an awesome stylist and she said for now, just leave it alone. We may eventually do some baby highlights just to bring some life back to it but damn, what a hard lesson to learn. Also, I’m in full menopause and also need to restart my fitness journey so I look forward to your new content.
I love how you grew out your grey I decided to let my hair grow as well but I’m only like 4 inches growing out my grey and my hair is long!!!! But it’s thin now and it passed my butt now but once my grey growling enough for a bob I will cut it off I’m so excited for that day!!!! But I don’t have any grey anywhere else but my sides of my temples wish me luck!!!!

So what is your advice for individuals that love the pool. My hair is salt and pepper and 98% dye free.
Hey!! I wish I had solid advise… but I am not sure. I plan on not going under next summer.
Hi ladies! I’m a hairstylist. Getting your hair wet with regular water and spraying a leave in conditioner prior to getting into the chlorine helps. When you get out rinse it immediately with clean water and wash as soon as possible. You can also purchase shampoo for chlorine.
Leave in conditioner and heat protecting cream can help when using hot tools and from the sun. Both of which can yellow whites and make browns brassy ☀️ 😊
Lastly bc grey hair can be more fragile keeping your hot tools on a cooler setting will help a lot. Air drying is best or letting it mostly air dry and just use heat when it’s nearly dry to style is ideal. 👍🏻 😊
I hear for it!!
🥰
I thought gray hair can turn yellow or brown and that’s why it’s recommended to use purple shampoo.
You’re absolutely right that gray hair can turn yellow or brassy, and this is often due to damage or environmental factors. Gray hair lacks pigment, which makes it more porous and prone to absorbing impurities from things like heat styling, hard water, pollutants, or even product buildup. Once the hair becomes brassy, it’s usually irreversible, meaning the yellow tones won’t completely go away.
Purple shampoo can help by temporarily neutralizing those yellow tones with its violet pigments, leaving the hair looking cooler and brighter. However, if you want gray hair to stay gray, it’s important to be very careful with how you care for it. Avoid excessive heat, protect it from environmental factors, and use gentle, nourishing products to keep it healthy and vibrant. Taking these steps can go a long way in maintaining that beautiful silver hue! 🩶🤗🩶
