OMG, great vintage stuff Daz, makes me realize why i like trains, home station, Spital yard looking like it meant business, just how i remembered it, a hive of activity. Took the boy's down there a couple of weeks back and it's a ghost depot now. Great video Daz.
Excellent footage Darren. Really liked the shots of the 47, 56's and 37 on the freights. The shot of the 91 hauling MK1's must be a rare shot. I also recognise the name of 47501 'Craftsman', good to see a shot of that loco from the past.
Another absolute corker Darren! Seeing these videos is making me consider changing the era of my new layout to this period - you're certainly providing plenty of reference material!
A bit after my time. I remember going peterborough on 4 or 5 occasions in the earlier 80's and most of the freight went down the outer sidings which is now the new platform. Seems very nostalgic to see so many 47's. Hopefully you've got a decent tape of March depot in your collection. I have fond memories of scouting about that loco graveyard around 85 or 86.
A Great Selection Of Trains There Great Video and i would of loved to be around filming these trains but sadly missed out abit on the era but oh well ......Matt
William Radford It was the 6th July 1989 when the hot spell of weather came to a thundery end. I lived in Worthing, West Sussex at the time, being a very young thunderstorm fanatic who also loves railways, I will never forget that night, the amazing lightning displays, thunder and torrential rains that lasted from 22:30 till 5:00. We don't get storms like that here in Lincolnshire too often.
Great video, Full of classics, were any of them 56s on the Redlands going to trowse by any chance before the 60s took over?. HSTs sounding sweet too, and Peterborough spital packed full of locos!
Amazing videos the trains were epic back then and a lot noisier to and there was much much more variety, the boring modern crap running around now int worth a second glance
Sad to think watching this video of 91s being new in May 1989, here we are just over 30 years later and they’re being replaced and retired...
As a former Station Manager at Peterborough, some fond memories here!
Wow, cool!

Great footage, love the 47's.
My favorite video of older British trains, I'm a big fan from America and love the older trains
Nostalgic Darren, loved it
Looks as if you were up late loading this in the early morning !!. I was up too. Another very nice compilation Darren.
Great footage mate, shame those intercity days are over when you see how fun those trains were just 20 years ago.
Thanks for uploading MrDeltic.
Curious at 3:17 - 43040 lacks the "125" on the branding. Never seen this variation before....
I absoloutely love these super showsropping smashing smacker videos Daz. Yet another great one.

As this video proves, 1989 was rockin'.
What can I say that I have not said before about your vintage video's. Not a lot really except, Super viewing mate.
1989 was a red hot summer
sandydogy 1990 was
Marvellous stuff
Just been watching programme on black holes and theoretical possibility of time travel, if only this were possible
The good old days of INTERCITY and blue and white livery's. The BR 156 sprinters are still in use now, on Scotrail services.
Where are the presflo wagons coming from? Barrington?
What camera ? I had a Panasonic M7 at this time
Didn’t know the class 90s ever ran with old mk2 or mk1 carriages
I’m here for the Valentas
1989 I remember a hot and still day during the summer, finishing with one almighty electrical storm. not much thunder, lots and lots of Lightning.

Peterborough Station, in my opinion, isn't as varied anymore. Where do I live? A South Lincolnshire town between Peterborough and Grantham.
Excellent footage! Brings into sharp relief just how banal and utterly soulless it all is today.
Those Class 101s were terrible. They were bouncy, noisy and rattly.
Nice Video :-). What was the best of the year 1989? :-)
was the mark 1 charter stock able to run upto 125? or was there a speed restriction on that service?
Eliott Jeary doubt it . Mk2 certainly arent
the maximum speed was 100 mph, I believe, as long as they were air braked and had Commonwealth or B4 bogies

Itf the British railways were so good then why it became divided into dozens of private companies?
money
So many liveries and classes today is totally dull rip classic diesels
