My dad flew in to Oshkosh a few times back in the 80s. He racked up a lot of time in the 70s and 80s but has not been current since the 90s. It has always been on my bucketlist to fly into Oshkosh with my dad. My goal is to make it happen for 2017. - Love your videos.
...Steve, was great to finally meet you in person. Flew in on Thursday Ripon, Fisk approach to runway niner. Tie down-GAP. Not sure bout the camping deal but may give it a try next year if the wx holds up. Landed minutes before the show started @ 1430. Ceiling was overcast barely @ 1800MSL
Great video! It's people like you who continue to inspire me. I am wanting to share flying with my son and to that end just passed my private pilot check ride last week. Keep it up!
Next year you should join us in the Mooney Caravan. We came in with 41 planes this year in formation, and we don't have to deal with Fisk. It's a ton of fun, a really great safe and easy way in with guaranteed camping space, and the best part is the people. It's a really great group with all sorts of activities, meals, etc. This year was my first OSH, and it was awesome. Being part of a huge group of awesome people made it so much more fun than the show alone though.
I had the privilege of going there this year too! It was absolutely amazing. In case you were wondering why it was so busy this year, Sunday had bad weather. Lots of planes were going off to alternate airports. All those planes, plus the ones that were planning to come in on Monday, made it busier than normal.
Amazing Josh! Can't wait to be able to share that experience with my Dad. Only for me he'll be the one showing me OSH for the first time! Great job keep it up! and congrats on the CFI!
Awesome adventure with friends and especially with your Dad. It's great that the two of you are "buddies" that share the same passion. My dad is my best friend and time like this are irreplaceable ! Your dad is a good man. Great video !
I'm so glad you brought your dad! As a father of two boys I know your dad appreciates it! I hope there are more videos on the way. Still working on my license and hope my boys follow me one day. Nice job flying in BTW that can't be a milk run.
Seeing you fly with your father into Oshkosh puts a physical warm feeling in my heart. I can't wait for the day to be able to share the aviation experiences I have had with my family.
What a lovely video of a memorable trip with your 'Pa'! Loved listening to the worlds busiest ATC on liveatc.net. Actually didn't look horribly stressful among it!
your dads reaction in the intro was the same reaction I had when I drove there when I was about 10 (6 years ago!!). I wanted to come meet you but I couldn't find the time lol.
Very nice! I like to fly the Mooney on MS Flight Sim. I know it's sounds pathetic but it's still something... LOL! Thanks Josh for what you do for us "arm chair" pilots!
I got to take my 11 year old daughter this year for our first trip to Airventure! What a great time we had! But had to camp at Fond du Lac. So badly wanted to get in to OSH. Maybe next year!
Nice video Josh. I was on the runway and watched you land. The arrival traffic that day was INSANE. Several incidents that day, glad you made it in okay. Blue Skies!
I was eating in the A&W area right next to you. I knew I should of said something, wasn't for sure if it was you or not. I was there with my Dad and my two boys.. Our first time at Oshkosh and LOVED IT!!!! Cant wait until next year. Happy Flying!
I remember you guys arriving at Oshkosh as I was marshalling you in at the north point of taxi P1. It is not in the video, but I am sure if you look at the raw footage you will see it :-) Great video!
I've been to the EAA a couple times. But the last several years, my job has taken priority. Maybe one of these years, I could meet you. It would be quite neat! I can't imagine what the ATC deals with when this happens every year - both on Approach and Departure.
I like your videos a lot Josh. You always try to push yourself further and learn something new. Correct me, if I'm wrong, but this is the first time you come with KOSH with complex aircraft and you as a PIC. :) Thanks for sharing, great video. (The end of the video answered my next question: why the Mooney and not the beloved N80991?) ;)
Sounds nuts! At what point in your flying did you first feel comfortable flying in to something as large as Oshkosh? From what I understand it's super chaotic and intense? On a recent podcast I heard there was several near misses etc.
Great job I have been there a few times with my son every one should go and put it on the bucket list
Love that you took your Dad. Keep it up Josh.
Great video! I love the Fisk controller scatting the "conga line" at 7:51. That I haven't heard before.
Great video Josh. So glad you and your dad could do this together.
Just beautiful - thanks. And thanks for being such a great son.

- Love your videos.
Great video Josh. I love seeing you and your father together. I hope he enjoyed his time there.
A memory you & your dad will remember for a lifetime
Having listened to Fisk ATC during the show - thanks for the great visuals to round out my imaging. Been too, long since I was there. 2017!!!
I flew in on Monday and it was closed to all but camping as of 4:30am. Amazing crowd this year. Sadly, Most left before this weekend.
You went to Oshkosh!?? How come we didn't see you around?
I was on the move the whole time! Brought my dad for the first time, so I was his tour guide. Where were you? Did you have a booth?
+MrAviation101 would of been fun to meet up. I didn't have a booth but had a meetup at the mzeroa booth and the TBM display.
+steveo1kinevo oh very cool. Yeah, wish I knew you were there! I came Sunday and left Thursday. Made it a short stay this year.
