    🌟 About this video
    I love watching perfume empties videos because people tend to have a solid final opinion on fragrances they finish. I also find fragrance empties videos really satisfying. I love them much more than perfume hauls or fragrance declutters, I can't be the only one
    So it's been 6 months since the last perfume empties video back in May 2023...(It's linked below with my other perfume empties video if you want to watch it). Here I talk you through the 10 bottles that I've finished off since then and let you know what I thought and whether I would consider repurchasing. These are mostly summer perfumes since I finished these mostly during the summer.
    Which perfumes have you emptied recently? Have you tried any of the perfumes that I've finished and would you repurchase them?

    I hate and love emptying a fragrance. It’s a bittersweet feeling 😂

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  7 месяцев назад +5

      I think when I like but don't love it, I am quite happy to move on, it's only when I loved it do I have a little pang of regret, but that's ridiculous because I've loved it and enjoyed it 😂 I like trying new things and so I always think, well that's a space for a new one and honestly, I've usually replaced it with something by the time it leaves anyway 🤦‍♀️

  • @kari0675
    @kari0675 7 месяцев назад +22

    I also hate paying the postage... 😅 And I have this weird thing, when I've almost run out of a perfume or a cosmetic, I feel like I want to finish it off quickly to get rid of the bottle and start a new one. I'm about to empty Zara's Sand Desert At Sunset and Guerlain's La Petite Robe Noire, and I feel the presure already. 😂

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  7 месяцев назад +4

      Yes, postage really irks me, I guess if you grew up buying stuff from physical shops, there's some psychological block there 🤣
      And yes, same, unless I absolutely love something, if it's getting low, I usually just finish it. I have about 120 bottles right now and I'd like to get back to about 100 if possible.
      Makeup lasts me ages, but I finished two blush pans this year which has astounded me, I hardly ever finish powder blush. A nice excuse to choose something different to enjoy 🥰

      Hi! I'm sometimes this way as well, however often times I alsoI behave quite the opposite: as soon as I notice I'm going low on a perfume/cosmetic I start saving it, because somehow I'm afraid to run out of it. This is weeird😢 oftentimes the last drops of the item goes bad this way. Need to change my mindset!

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes when stuff goes bad it makes you rethink. I hoarded a small amount of a sentimental fragrance for a few years and it turned, now I just enjoy things until they gone 😊

    I am absolutely fine with clone houses. Most of them indicate that they are “inspired by” XYZ. Fragrance should not simply be for the elite, which with things priced the way they are these days, it is becoming so.
    I see it as the exact same thing as posters of Van Gogh or Monet. It’s not the actual painting, it is a replica. But how many people would have art on their walls if they were only able to purchase “originals”?
    I say Huzzah for moving out of the ridiculous 18th century of salons and snuff vs plagues and 35 year lifespans 😂

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  7 месяцев назад

      I'm not snooty about clones either, I'm on the fence. I am happy to try them. In fact, I was sent some pr a few months back by a clone house and I reviewed the ten oils that they sent me, a few of them were really good, a few were further away from what they were supposed to be. But I guess that only matters if people want a spot on clone and really know what the fragrance smells like. Perfume is ridiculously priced... I get it with indie as they are small brands but with niche and designer, no... Thanks for watching 🥰

    • @katiejon17
      @katiejon17 Месяц назад

      It’s funny to see the people that do state that fragrance cloning is unethical... but they wear jeans that aren’t Levi’s. A standard is a standard, not just for fragrances - but I’ve noticed most of the perfume channels that are against clones... all receive $400 bottles for free in PR.

    It's crazy that it almost seems rare and unusual to hear someone talking about fragrances they've finished. I admire the anchorage to the fragrances you know you love and don't stray from.
    I can't imagine finishing a bottle at this point which is mental. But there a small handful that get a very fair amount of use. I don't have the sentimentality for perfume and can easily move on. 🤦‍♀️. Stella McCartney Absolute is the closest I've got to the original Stella edp and I've been reaching for that lately. So i guess that holds the most integrity to what I've always loved 👍👍

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  7 месяцев назад +1

      I think I am trying to curate my collection a little with finishing ones I like but don't love, more often than ones I really love. I tend to wear those to work or bed and so they tend to get finished as I do those things a lot. I have a big problem in that the ones I tend to love are all discontinued or discontinued formulations...
      I think I need to get out of the mindset of curating in this way. I really need to be more brutal with decluttering but I have to really dislike something for me to declutter it. 🤦‍♀️ I've been decluttering a bit more recently though so we'll see! I'm at 120 currently and I want to be back around 100 ideally. 🤔
      Oh Stella was beautiful and I bet Stella absolute is gorgeous too! I think a lot of yours have some massive dents, like Rose Rouge! 🥰

      It never ends... I'm on a no buy now until January. I figure I can manage a month 😂
      Lots of these I'd had for ages or there wasn't a lot when I got them, like the Dossier one, or they were travels. I am happy to finish some of these. I don't feel I'll miss them, plus light summery ones tend to go off quicker so I don't really want those sitting around unloved. I want to get my collection back to around 100, that's my current aim! 🥰

    I’m wearing Signorina Mysteriosa today. I’ve had it since 2020. I rarely wear it but I’ve had it on a few hours this morning and I can’t stop smelling myself. Then I clicked on your video. I think resellers are selling Mysteriosa for low prices. I have a 100 ml bottle I found as part of a 3 piece set at TJ Maxx in December 2020. I haven’t ever finished a fragrance since I started buying them in 2020!! This year I’m going to use them more. Thanks for all the great content videos.

      It's weirdly addictive isn't it? For its pricepoint, Misteriosa is lovely! I remember seeing it very cheap online at one point but alas, I didn't buy it and now look, it's nowhere to be seen. 🤦‍♀️
      I think I only finished Signorina ribelle this quickly because it was a little travel spray and I had it in my handbag to refresh at lunchtimes, it was fab for work this summer ☺️

  • @paulauk9965
    @paulauk9965 7 месяцев назад +4

    Love empties videos! I rarely repurchase a fragrance as by 50% through I’ve generally had enough!
    However Eclat d’Arpege is exempt from this 😂, I’m not sure why but every time I wear it, it takes me back to a holiday before lockdown. I didn’t even own the perfume then so I can only assume other people were wearing it? 🤷🏻‍♀️. Very strange 😅.
    The next one isn’t strictly a repurchase but I received Dyptique’s Philosykos for my birthday and I’m pleased to say it is reminding me of the discontinued Jo Malone Wild Fig & Cassis, so it sort of feels like a repurchase, but not! This too brings back memories - in particular when my daughters were younger and I would change their beds, I always put a couple of sprays of JM fig on the clean duvet covers as they loved it, and when I wore philosykos today my daughter said it smells of when she was young, so very happy to have that smell back in my life! 😅
    Thanks for the vid xx

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes I think if I don't just take most fragrance to work to casually respray at lunchtime, I'd never get through them as I also tend to get fed up after a bit with ones I like but don't love. A lot of these didn't last that well, so I'd be scentless in the afternoon if I didn't have a bottle on my desk to spritz.
      Éclat d'arpege, is that the lilac one? I've not tried it, but I've heard lots of people say how good it is and affordable too.
      Philosykos is lovely 😍 and what a lovely scent memory with it too. That's what fragrance is all about I think! Triggering those thoughts, feelings and memories ❤️ thanks for watching 🥰 have a fab weekend 😊

      Wow that's crazy! Not even a travel spray?! I took a lot of these to work to respray at lunchtime as a lot of these tended to fade throughout the day and some I wore to bed a bit, like covet pure bloom towards the end. I tend to wear light fresh or comforting ones to bed. Thanks for watching 🥰

    Hi Claire! Good job my friend, good job! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 I may have finished one or two travel sprays… 😅😂 My storage for travel sprays has 30 spots so I need to work on these if I want to bring more in my collection. Some brands cant fit two bottles in one spot so I’m cheating a bit here. 🙃 I gave up the idea of finishing a full bottle. With about 200 bottles, I can’t see myself neglecting my collection to finish something in particular. What I have done lately is working on using the same perfume 2-3 nights a week after my shower. It gives me the impression that I’m making small dents. Slowly but surely… 😉 Sorry you broke your ankle. My son did too and it was a very boring summer… we had to cancel vacation plans. Hope yours healed faster! 😕 Have a great weekend! Xx

      Yes Julie! It was incredibly annoying! I had 4 weeks holiday booked off from work and then poof, it was me sitting on a sofa for three and a half weeks. It's still not quite right now, over 3 months on! The ligament is the issue isn't it? More so than the bones sometimes... Yes I want to move towards smaller sizes. I tend to keep a bottle on my desk at work and also one for bed, mostly these ones were things that I wore at work though and needed refreshing as they didn't last all day. I have about 120 bottles right now and I don't want more than that ever so I'm trying to not buy very much. Hope you are well and that your son's ankle is getting better, how did he break his? I was just walking and I turned my ankle on a slight incline, and I heard the crack 🤦‍♀️ Thanks for watching 🥰

      Yes me too, but the ligament is the bit that takes all the time to repair and needs all of the exercises to recover and that continues to ache. If it's still bad in January I'll go back, but the NHS here is a hot mess right now, you have to fight for everything. 🤦‍♀️

    What you said about a whole world of fragrance out there stopped me from going to buy a back-up of a fragrance mist I just got today....I was just planning on driving miles to the drugstore in all this traffic😂. And I most likely will tire of the scent by next week and wonder why I bought two. It's a $2 spray though so no big loss. I loved Loverdose Red Kiss and wish I could repurchase.

      I used to buy backups sometimes, but I ended up selling most of them. I guess by the time I'm through something my taste usually moves into the next thing. The one exception is Alien really. I would love more of the original formulation but it's so hard to find now. Loverdose Red Kiss is findable here still, TKMaxx has it a lot and a few other places. My half full bottle was bought secondhand though as I wasn't sure about having a whole bottle of it. I didn't like it to begin with but as I got to the end, it became a little addictive 😂

    I have finished a few bottles both larger and many travel sizes this year. My biggest bottle finished was Nasheet. I’ve been giving some to my little girl (7) to enjoy when I only like but not love them but they are younger smelling (some of my Ariana scents, and Escada). She’s flying through them, haha! I do feel lots of pressure once there are just a few wears left even when I adore the perfume I’ll spray a couple sprays on curtains or blankets to help finish them up. Ha!

I decided not to repurchase it again, because I don’t want to overbuy, and like you feel there are others to try and enjoy. I did really find your clone video interesting. I bought upon Jeremy’s high recommendation the original Loverdose, a very tiny heart bottle. I enjoy it, but only feel like wearing it occasionally and at home. Hi, Claire, wondering if you could please explain the terms top notes, middle notes, base notes, and dry down? When do this notes in each perfume typically appear? It can be in a video sometime, need not be a personal response. Thank you. Take care.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  7 месяцев назад

      In theory the notes should be more prominent in order but in my experience that is rarely the case, people give rough timings of first 20 mins, an hour in and two hours but that's rarely something you can pinpoint, so I find it unhelpful. I guess it's mostly referring to the size of the fragrance molecule for each note/ accord and its relative volatility, with lighter smaller molecules being those at the top and heavier less volatile, larger molecules at the base. The drydown is the lasting impression of the fragrance, at the point it becomes linear, i.e. when it no longer changes as to which notes are most prominent. You might be interested in my video about why fragrances smell different on different people as this is peripherally and partially covered there. 🥰

    Aw yes ur poor ankle. I can imagine that was such a long summer. And yes it's interesting you really enjoyed that bottle. It did sound pleasant.
    Well done to such a small "clone" brand renaming a fragrance. That is actually impressive, big brands seem to struggle with moving with the times. Cherry does seem to be much better in modern times, older perfumery it wasn't the best was it. It clearly impressed everyone 😉. Why isn't there a cherry bakewell Ameretto? I think you should pitch it to a supermarket knock off version.
    The Issey M sounded OK actually and Julija is fab and very very missed.
    Yes paying postage is like passing glass for me. Not only when we spend a fortune which most of it is profit for them should we be paying postage (unless indie) but also... What postage exactly? It takes them days to post it then practically every post "service" would be a disgrace in 2800BC they are that useless slow and pointless. Especially a company that is allowed to be called Royal 🙄 I suppose it's as useful and as much as a rip off as they are...
    I am not a fan of empties videos. But if everyone did them like you I'd watch more. You really do proper justice and explain your experience... Not that empties are common in this new influencer world, I mean why use a fragrance like you're actually passionate and enjoy them when u can flog something you got for free 😉 ah the modern world.
    Anyways, yes the first video of yours I ever watched was an empties and was forever hooked after. Never have I seen so much detail and methodology. You're truly one of the best.

      You can help me pitch a Mr Kipling mash up line of naughty booze based line of adult cakes and pastries. I think we'd have a hit on our hands. 😉
      Yes I miss Julija too!
      I think postage most irked me with the horrendous Soki fragrance. I begrudged £5 being spent on that sample and the £2.99 postage when it cost 85p to send those. It's not like the envelopes were gold.
      No I get it 😂 declutters where you are really debating whether it was ever sprayed are mostly the thing but it's views I guess 🤷‍♀️ and yes reselling of gifted one is definitely a thing.
      Haha, I try not to be forensic but I think it's inbuilt sometimes. It just happens 🤷‍♀️ thanks for watching 🥰

      Yes I don't understand why postage is so dishonest and they make up these prices... Just make ur product more for your profit. We all know how much it costs to send stuff. I mean that post profit could have paid for some labels 🙄

    Hi Claire! I don't think I'm anywhere near finishing a bottle at the moment... I've made a good dent in Lovely. My 50ml is half empty... A few of my favorite fragrances have dents... I try to buy mostly 30 and 50ml to avoid them going bad eventually.

      Oh yes lovely is a very long lasting fragrance, I wore mine mostly to bed as I found it clean and relaxing, but I could nearly always still smell it in the morning! I think I have learnt that I don't need a full bottle of anything now! I have way too much! I would like to downsize my collection a little so I can enjoy each fragrance a little more. 120 is too many, 100 is my target right now, but yes, smaller bottles is the way forward for me 🙂 hope you have a lovely weekend! Thanks for watching 🥰

    Hi Claire, lovely to see a new video from you. I’m not gonna lie, I used up my CKintoU as a bathroom freshener because unfortunately to me it smells exactly like cleaning supplies. It’s not a good fragrance. I suspects I got a bad batch like you did with your first bottle.

      Thank you! ❤️ Yes! 😂 It's the most confusing experience I've ever had with a fragrance, the first one I absolutely despised, couldn't wait to declutter it, the second bottle, which actually didn't have much left when I acquired it by accident 😂 was definitely the same fragrance but just without that weird latex feel. I have no idea what was going on. Anyway, I'm not buying any more but I'm so confused!!!

    Unfortunately Glossier You gives me a headache. I do like the scent but tried it in 2019 and again this year and there’s something cloying about the musk that won’t go away. I do get the pencil shavings with it but it dries down on me to a too strong musk. I found Kayali Musk 12 and love it so much more, sweeter and lighter with no headache.

    • @dr.claire.perfume
      @dr.claire.perfume  7 месяцев назад +1

      Yes Kayali Musk is very light and pretty, it makes me think of a ballerina. Glossier you is more like a grungy but minimalist art student. I heard Kayali Musk is discontinued, I'm hoping it's not true. 🥰
