So true. I got exactly the information I was looking for quickly and effectively. Well done!
Seriously. All the other videos are 10+ minutes. Informative, sure, butt... Get to the point, lol.
I know right 😴😴🤪😁
Good video I bough an acoustic yamaha with built in tuner and microphone it's 3/4 size the model is fsx720sc it's beautiful sound and easier to handle. I find full to cumbersome. However I have decided to go for an electric an epiphone sg special used but it's mint and a great deal and a Marshall mg15gfx brand new which is still a good deal. I'm just not getting the teenage kicks with the acoustic. I'm more into stiff little fingers than John Denver 😜
Very true. I started on electric and when I went to acoustic, I realized how weak my hands were.
I started on acoustic and now when I hold an electric guitar, I feel like a pro! Whenever I sound bad on acoustic guitar, I play electric guitar for a while, it boosts my confidence. But one down side is I can't do much of soloing and have to learn bending precisely.
@@samyakhp4353 beginners need any motivation they can get
I learn acoustic first and it was soooo hardd. The finger pressure when pressing the string makes finger hurt
@@faizalabizar8867 Me too. My fingers ended up being all cut up because I was pressing down too hard.. Lol..

Thank you sir!
My first guitar was an acoustic and everything I played sounded like shit; It was ruining my interest in the hobby altogether.
Last week at my friend's birthday party he let me try his electric and everyone including myself couldn't believe how good it sounded.
Night and day.
Electric has got to be the way to go for beginners.
true, it's like learning how to drive on a stick shift then switching to an automatic
@@Good-Enuff-Garage that's true, i had been practicing my ass off on acoustic for a good 9-10 months, and usually it sounded like shit and it really made me not wanna play guitar. When i switched to electric, i felt like i suddenly got better tenfold 😂 have only been playing electric since
I never got used to the body of the acoustic guitar, being big and hard (obvious "she said" joke) to get my arms around. Also heard that the electric guitar has easier strings to hold down as well. As somebody who is really into hard rock/metal music, I want to get an electric, but being with my acoustic for 8 years, I have little interest in playing it much aside from "when I feel like it" and is afraid of wasting money on an electric only to not bother with it the same way.
sameee exact thing here. i been having an Acoustic for so long but i never got good at it just cause i dont feel a connection towards it. but im actually more interested in Electric Guitars just cause i listen to alot of Rock and Metal Genres. wish i had one but at the same time im afraid i might find out that im just not good at playing guitar in general .
If there's a shop nearby, or a friend who has one, you can try it out and see if you like it.
There are plenty of second hand electric guitars around that work well on a budget.
Thats why i got the acoustic-electric guitar because it has a smaller body
Try an electric, It sparked when i first turned on distortion and its actually easy to play songs along with Power chords which are also easy
that's what she said
A RUclips video that gets right to the point, doesn't drag it out and answers the question in the title? Impossible.
I try my best!
@@DarrylSyms That you do! thank you for this content. I've been learning the electric guitar for 1 month now and I wanted to know if I made the right choice.
Please keep uploading with this style of video!
Short and simple; love it
Physically Electric Guitars are the easiest to start with
Not only are Electric Guitars the easiest to learn on (weather it's 6 strings, 7, strings, etc, Multi-Neck) especially Barre Chords which are the biggies, but they're starting to make versions that have Built-in Tuners.
The extended range Guitars (up to 10 Strings going down to Low G#) are super easy because the additional Strings facilitate transposition especially if you're in Church Gigs.
Hey!! Can u recommend some?
Thank you for helping me make a selection.
i got an acoustic guitar at an auction, but i’ve always loved the sound of an electric but i didn’t know wether or not to sell it, it’s barely ever been used it’s super nice and i’ve always had a hard time trying to learn it. i will look more into it and work out my money, thank you for the great advice!
I’ve always been a fan of acoustic but I’ve been playing both for bout 20 years on and off now and I’m 28 atm I have a fender A/E but I’m getting a electric next month and I love the fact I can take my acoustic everywhere and it makes it also easier to learn things you didn’t allready know from strangers cause you can just hand them your guitar and they can show you stuff they know and hand it right back to you lol
I had an electric guitar several times in the beginning and I didn’t learn much. Had problems with the amp connection etc. but with the acoustic I learned chords fast and could just pick it up and play. Much easier.
Thank you soooo much!
I've always loved johnny cash's music aswell as old folk music so i got an acoustic. And if I ever go to electric it will feel like a walk in the park because of my experience with accoustic
First time I'm acoustic then went to Electric... Damn so smooth
Wow.... simple but great advice. I just came from watching another channel that said the electric guitar can be difficult for beginners due to all the cables, pedals, etc.... I was like whaaaaaaaaaat??? Anyways, this video has helped me choose the electric guitar. I'll be picking it up again since I quit playing 20 years ago lol...
Thank you for the advice! Great and concise video
You're welcome, glad you found it useful!
i really want to learn electric but only have acoustic one so currently still learning on acoustic, watching this video make me want to even more to buy electric lol :")
I started with my 0.12 wire and 42'' size acoustic guitar as a 13 years old my fingers and hand wrist is very hurt i can remember that moment hahaha
Awesome!
thumbs up to this RUclipsr give me a best advice and tips in a quick tips
The Electric really suits for me and For the Acoustice im not really used to it cuz the body is big
I thought I was so bad at guitar because I’m learning on acoustic, still can only get barre chords to sound good 20% of the time. I played a friends strat and it felt so fluid to me if that makes sense
can i ask,is the strings on electric guitar is easier to press than on acoustic?bcs its been 2 months and i cant yet bar a fret onmy acoustic guitar
@@sharim605 I can bar every fret now after like two to three months of guitar practicing... except the first one. Now I'm reaching six months of my guitar journey and I feel you.
And yes. The guitar strings on an electric is much easier to press and bend.
I feel like that’s why starting on the acoustic can be better. I’d argue that it’s more difficult in a lot of ways but that’s it’ll make you more precise and skillful. It’s also easier to press on an electric’s strings so oftentimes acoustic players have stronger fingers
@@elianamoored7975 man i can deal with weak fingers for once, but sometimes acoustic gets difficult to the point u almost don't wanna play guitar, i was learning a song in my native language, and after i got my ass handed to me trying to perfectly do 2 barre chords, there were 3 more in that song, i lowkey jus gave up after that, and bought an electric guitar lmao
i RUINED my learning time at age 15 by getting a shit large electroacoustic guitar on reccomendation of shop (they only want to sell ) . its action rose month later and it became unbearable unmotivational to play . now 7 years later i'm coming back to learning guitar , got myself a CHEAP electric guitar with HSS pickup and cheap amp . YOU REALLY SEE THE MOTIVATION MAINTAINED AND HYPE SUSTAINED with an electric guitar , especially in young people . cause when u see an electric guitar , you just wanna move its string and feel like a rockstar , THAT STUFF WORKS !!!!!!
I am watching this after seven years well i tried learning guitar 8 year ago but gave up. But i have picked up some cords n now im thinking of getting into learning guitar again but this time I’m thinking of practising on electric guitar’s
After 7 year this video helped
Thanks
I’m used to electric, recently bought an acoustic, oh it’s legitimately harder to get it to sound good depending
Thabk u for tha advice. I started playing ukulele when i got interested of learning instruments. My dad bought me a acoustic guitar which I kept on asking to have. But I actually wanted to play electric guitar more than acoustic, but they keep saying that I should learn how to play the acoustic first. But the way i play it sounds like shit and i felt that I wont be good at electric if i cant play the acoustic guitar. Thank u really for the advice.
One time I learned how to slap on an acoustic guitar but I started dreaming of electric guitars. Usually I would prefer both.
Im starting on acoustic rn and heading to electric guitar. (Got the electric for Christmas)
Same, I am super into metal.
But my mother bought me a acoustic instead of a electric for Christmas
I guess I'll just start off with acoustic
Good luck on your learning
i'm planning to buy a guitar bcs ive been dreaming of it since im still a kid (courtesy of all the cool anime openings i've listened to). i'm into pop rock and also band songs so i really wanna get 'em electric guitar but some people said 'guitars are just for boys and girls should only dance and sing' and it just get on my nerves *eyerolls*. music is for everyone. thankyou for the video! it's so straightforward, i love it!
Omds same? i want an electric guitar so I can do the anime openings and endings, since they vary from different genres. Acoustic guitars are so cool as well!!
@@portiah yes! i agree!

Hello guys. So what did you buy? Acoustic or electric? I'm having a hard time to think what to buy
Yess same here anime openings nd endings are too cool to be on electric guitar, but I heard peaple saying that learning an electric guitar is damn hard.. so what did u guys bought..?
oh i'm left handed my father knows how to play both sadly he doesn't play anymore i'm still stuck because i like both chill and rock songs, still can't choose what to learn since i'm just a 13 years old.
Get electric
You can substitute the Acoustic parts with Clean Electric.
Should I buy used or new? Any recommendations for electric under $200? Just starting out and don’t want to be completely broke, was looking at the squire stratocaster bullet
100% used. You’ll get more for your money, and you’ll be able to get a lasting product rather than a “disposable”. Check Gumtree/Facebook/eBay 🙂
I’m into rhyth and blues I think I can Mandy electric work as a beginner
I think after watching this video I want to get an electric to start, there any way I can learn and teach myself.
So as you can see with my pfp, you can say what i want but damn i dunno where to buy. Dont wanna go to the store since i know nothing about e guitars and theyd probably make a fool of me for the price and recommendation. Thank you so mucj for this video. Been wantinh to find an advice whether id buy acoustic or e and now im sure as f which one to take. All i need is a perfect seller and im gonna go take on my rampage through music rather than crying the shit out get depressed
Now I understand why it’s so hard to play rock and funk music on acoustic. Playing Under The Bridge RHCP on acoustic is annoying especially when it’s meant to be played on electric but now Ik I don’t have to beat myself down whenever I buzz playing that song on acoustic thinking I’m a shit guitarist
I love acoustic! It’s what I learned on and trust it was a challenge because bars chords are no joke on acoustic. Each have their own challenges.
Acoustic is beautiful because it requires nothing to sound good - only skill and new strings every few months. You can't cover up terrible playing with reverb or distortion (unless you amp it.) Either you can play the song, or you cannot, there is no in between with acoustic.
The genre I chose was rock I know I’m a lil stupid with music instruments and stuff like that but again I chose rock as genre what guitar should I use electric or acoustic?
I’m a beginner. Started two months ago. I bought an acoustic guitar and was given a cheap electric guitar from a friend with a small amp. They have different sounds. For camp fire songs the acoustic sounds much better. I find playing barre chords and string bending are much more difficult on the acoustic guitar. The electric one bends so easily. Do others find acoustic guitars difficult to barre and to bend? And barre chords don’t sound great on the acoustic.
Yes, others also find it difficult. Acoustic does sound great, but it’s much harder for beginners
My sister knows how to play the electric guitar and the acoustic guitar she Saids I should learn the acoustic guitar even tho I dont wanna learn the acoustic guitar I prefer the electric guitar because I like pop rock and indie rock
Great vid! What would be a good starter electric guitar?
One that looks great, and doesn't empty your bank account! :)
Darryl Syms Thank you very much. 👍
Sir , I am 13 years old (my fingers are small) and I want to play an acoustic guitar . Which brand and model do you recommend ? I am an absolute beginner .
hi a bit late, idk if you already bought a guitar but i just wanted to share that i used cort ad810 it looks great sounds great and worth the price. im planning on buying an electric guitar but idk the guitar itself is expensive and i still need to buy amps and and cables.
Whats the diffrence in sound??
Let’s start with the more obvious similarities between acoustic and electric guitars. Both an acoustic and electric guitar have six strings, tuning pegs that allows you to alter the pitch of each of those six strings, a fretboard and frets.
There are also obvious difference, such as electric guitars having pickups or metal bars on the body of the guitar to “pick up” the vibrations of the guitar strings and convert them into electrical signals played through an amplifier, or how acoustic guitars are a bit thicker and bulkier in their construction, whereas an electric guitar tend to be flatter.
Whether you start out on acoustic or electric guitar, both of them require a commitment on your part to learn and practice. Regardless of whichever variety of guitar you choose, you’ll adopt a new vocabulary of chords, scales, and techniques that can be applied to both acoustic or electric guitar.
I had an electric guitar for a year and a half and an acoustic for only a year and ever since i got my acoustic i quit playing the electric but somehow when i came back after a year learning to play electric guitar was 100x more satisfying than before so now electrics are my favorite, but i still dont know how to use a pick
So do u suggest that first acoustic should be learnt before playing electric one ??
It depends on which u prefer, if u find electric to he more of ur taste then play it first, but I'd say try both, and u could practice both at the same time it isn't that difficult, but imo acoustic is way better now, and I honestly can give an opinion on which to start off with because one month I'll prefer acoustic over electric while another I prefer electric over acoustic, but it also really depends on which electric, but it's all up to u and what u prefer the most
I have been playing acoustic for like 2 years would electric guitar be good for me?(I havn't tried it ever)
in general, how long does it take for a person play the eletric guitar really good? i know its different for people but speaking in a general way
106 years
my mom keeps sayin to buy an acoustic guitar first because she says to learn it first then an electric, but i like indie rock and grunge. I only have 2 options here in the philippines, either buy an acoustic and learn it or buy a starter kit with an electric guitar (thomson strat) and learn it. I dont know which to pick.
I'm in the same situation rn..
if I just learn acoustic guitar for only 5 months and self taught, should I continue learning the acoustic or should I buy electric guitar and learn it? And should I take a guitar course or learning it by myself? btw i'm into rock punk alternative pop :)
Do what you want to do, but I strongly suggest an electric considering your genre preference! 👍 A guitar course will give you a shortcut route to your goals rather than working it all out yourself, but it's down to what you'd prefer and your budgets 🙂
I think I choose to learn electric guitar, and do you have any recommendations for what electric guitar should I buy? Is Yamaha Pacifica a good guitar?
Pacificas are great, I recommend yes! 🙂 Or an Ibanez GIO/GRG
ok thx for all the infos! :)
You're welcome! 🙂
Hey Darryl! i was wondering what kind of guitar i should get. I am into like hip hop and pop( like modern day music) the weeknd, roddy rich etc. Should I get an acoustic or an electric ?
Hello
And also what is your main genre of music
Electric. Get some kind of Strat 👍 Watch my videos to get an idea of what genre I like 😉
Ok thank you so much😊
That’s incredibly narrow minded. Modern music is amazing. Music is constantly evolving and it’s magical 🙌
I have an acoustic guitar but I am looking at a $100 guitar kit with a amp included... Should I buy it
No. When amps are included, they suck. You’ll get way more for your money if you buy used too. Buy a guitar and worry about an amp later when you get more $$ 👍
Does that mean if I start on acoustic and get really good will i get better when i switch to electric
Sure
I'm just beginning playing guitar any tips please and also I'm 17 do you think I'm late reply please
Play guitar every day, learn all of your favourite songs, watch my RUclips videos, and get a teacher to set you off to a good start to building good habits/techniques from the start. I have some beginner videos across my channel, and if you want to save your time and money then I even a beginners guitar course here: bit.ly/2r8X7QA. The course covers all of the basics which would take at least 5 private lessons with your local teacher to cover :) Plus it's 60% off at the moment!! All the best!
So hows your playing now?
So im considering buying an electric guitar, based on the video. Any suggestions for a price budget of under 500? I want to be able to have an amp with that price.
$500? £500? €500? 500 handshakes? Depending on your preference, I always recommend buying used so that you can get more for your money
Definitely boss katana amp. Guitar,Mitchel md400, shecter c6 elite, or if buying guitar used there's many options you can pick up USA made peavey's super cheap and there good.
I disagree with the Katana and would rather opt for the Roland Microcube GX personally. But then I’ve never played a Katana. Also, never go for “bundles”. Bundles are usually so horrible and just make you feel better about the money you spend. It’s best to buy all the kit separately
Or get both.
Tim Shieff tee.
Omw to buy guitar searched for short video found one! I am buying electric guitar...!
Electric for me, i just like it, when i want to go outside ( to the park etc ) i bring my battery powered amp. 👍.
Good choice!
And what if i am into both
Then they cancel each other out and thus you should get none ☹️
But Electric always wins the versatility game 😶
Can you play country on an electric guitar
Of course, country is best on electric! 🙌
@@DarrylSyms you're killing me guy.
I'm gonna get one electric guitar in Christmas with my own money! (I'm 13 so that explains-14 by the time christmas comes) I already have an acoustic and still a beginner, but thriving so by the time it's Christmas I'll know how to play acoustics.
Woohoo!!
Can you tell me that did you find electric easier than acoustic?
@@kned7288 electric is easier to the fingers since it's softer, and it's easier to switch tabs and such since the neck is small
My brother gave me a electric Guitar can I learn it begginer
Accustic doesn't have fat back so much easier to hold ?
I keep telling my parents about this but they made me think to buy acoustic and now i regret it i really want an electric now
Does electric guitar need to be plugged in I mean we can produce music as it is or we need to plug it in speaker?
Of course you can make music without - it just won’t be as loud, but that’s no problem 😄
In my opinion don't start on both,by a classic!
Nylon strings are between those two,if you don't want a weak hand start on classical then buy an electric, that's how I started ,3 years on classical then elictric
I disagree, Nylon strings are terrible to learn on - they’re so slippery slidey and roll under your fingers so easily, plus the necks are twice as thick. Highly un-motivating for beginners 😝
@@DarrylSyms but people complain about their fingers hurting when they start on acoustic, while others say that nylon don't need much pressure to activate
All beginner students that I’ve ever had have said it’s a pain in the butt to squeeze nylon strings hard enough. Especially when you play anything above the 5th fret because they’re usually not set up very good
I bought an electric guitar over three months ago (first time I've ever even held one) but after 3 months of daily practice I'm thinking about giving up or buying a cheap acoustic. Why? because I have large hands and fingers and it's been making it a nightmare to practice on my electric, the neck is just too slim for my hands. So after months of trying I'm considering acoustic or quitting. We'll see. (I'm into Rock and roll and pop btw)
If you get an electric guitar do you have to get an amp as well
Absolutely not. A lot of people ask that, but if you think about it, it’s a silly thought really 💁♂️
if I'm into metal, should I buy a prs les paul or an ibanez rga? I'm a beginner btw
Ibanez all day
I trust you but my parents bought me an acoustic even though i said a million times that i want an electric guitar 😂😭😭

What acoustic guitar do you have?

The Electric Guitar can play everything, & even finger picking.
Acoustic then electric imo. Most guitar players will play both. Better to put a good amount hours into the acoustic, more raw and manual. Yes harder but when you transition to electric, holy smokes it will make you wayyy better right away.
Starting on electric then getting an acoustic, it is like starting all over again in terms of your hand and finger strength.
Electric guitar is the best to learn very true .
Am I mistaken or is that Paul Gilbert's signature on your guitar?
You’re mistaken, if you look closely it’s Pal Gilbert’s signature
@@DarrylSyms I see. My apologies. But on closer inspection, I think it's actually Pal Gurn's signature.
You are correct, I have no idea who this person is. It seems like someone just scribbled some nonsense on my guitar 🤷♂️
It doesn’t really matter in my opinion all that matter really is the quality of the guitar. You don’t want to learn on a piece of shit with high action.
Electric Guitars have really low action & thinner strings so that's much much better.
@@RockStarOscarStern634 can i ask,is the strings on electric guitar is easier to press than on acoustic?bcs its been 2 months and i cant yet bar a fret onmy acoustic guitar

Which one?
Darryl Syms the one on the left

Acoustic of course... no doubts ... cheap hard core string cutting edge .. pain manipulating your ears and sounds .. while a record spins .. GypsyTrail 😄👍
I learned the hard way, don’t buy a cheap Acoustic as a beginner, the action sucks on most really cheap acoustic guitars, and learning to play won’t be any fun, more like torture really, especially if you’re an older beginner, 50’s with arthritis in your hands and fingers.
Darryl Syms Turns out Electric is always going to be easier as a fact due to its dimension differences.
Absolutely

It doesn't matter what kind of guitar you choose. The only thing that makes any difference is this : does the guitar have a monkey grip? That is the most important feature that any style of guitar must have. No monkey grip, no groupies and that is a fact.
Neither. The best is a classic nylon string guitar
