    I had to laugh, I have a colleague who likes to tell the cab driver which way to go because he thinks he knows best and he always opens the windows and asks for the aircon to be turned on even when it clearly already was before he opened the windows! Most of us avoid getting into the same cab as him as he always the last to arrive at the destination due to him 'knowing best' !

    Hiya Tom, just thought I'd leave this here. I'm a Londoner born and bred, and I used to work jobs that got me driving all across London, so I like to think that I know my way about a bit. I now live in Edinburgh, and although I'd never admit it amongst friends, I do miss home from time to time. Thank you for uploading shifts like these. Your videos are such a joy to watch, to see my old stomping ground and share a laugh or two about traffic and tourists. I may not be as quick off the mark as yourself, but it's a lot of fun to think to myself things like "yeah that's right" or "oh that's new" to your routes and just keep my London knowledge ticking over. Cheers mate!

    On German buses and trains, where you can flap in the upper part of some windows as emergency ventilation will have a sticker saying "Air condition is working most efficiently with windows closed." Usually that helps a lot.
    In my car the AC is set to 21 all year long...

  • @BomberFletch31
    @BomberFletch31 Год назад +6

    For what it's worth, I set my car's AC to 20, and most of the time I'm comfortable. But if I've been out in the heat all day, as some of your passengers could have been, I turn it right down to 18 until I cool off, and when it starts to get too cold, I turn it back to 20. 22 is a bit warm for me. I like it cold. Also, was that guy hailing you down at 12:23? Might have missed one there!
    I love videos like this. Thank you for taking the time to edit and upload them.

    Great videos mate. I'm debating doing the knowledge. I'm currently a heating engineer but fed up of the hard labour and paperwork.
    Only advice I could give if you're fed up of the aircon convo, would be to maybe put the aircon on around 19.5-20°.
    22° is warm imo.

    Some of these passengers make me scratch my head, like if you're already at Paddington station and want to get to Holloway Road station then surely you might as well just jump on the Underground and pay 3.20/2.60 rather than 25-30 in a taxi when it is going to take roughly the same amount of time anyway (not a knock at Tom or black cabs at all!), I could understand it more if it was a group of people sharing

    Love you pointing the Acol Bridge Club in West End Lane. Other dedicated bridge clubs in central London include TGRs Club at Craven Road/Westbourne Terrace, the London Mindsports Centre in Dalling Road Hammersmith (the former Salvation Army Hall), the Andrew Robson Club in Parsons Green Lane right by the tube station and others in the suburbs. All the Pall Mall/West End Clubs, Hurlingham, Roehampton, etc. have bridge sections but they tend to be for members and guests. No worries, there are a ton of other places where regular players can get a weekly game and tourists are always welcome if they want a game too. The annual Inter-Livery Company bridge tournament is this Monday (March 6th) at Drapers Hall. Does the Hackney Carriage Drivers Company have a team? If not why not?

    Ah: The Strand.
    In Auckland, NZ, The Strand is both a street and a long distance train station on that road. I spotted a new trainee not knowing the booking from a hotel at 6am Saturday was going there instead of Britomart (within Auckland about 5 minutes away).
    I was comfortable making the assumption due to local train closures that are still going on for flood-proofing and other repairs and the fact that long-distance trains aren't as frequent during the week.

    15:19 In my first 5 months of working at call centre (excluding my first month as a trainee), I disliked working on Fridays because it was the busiest day of the week from August to December just before school finishes. I think the floods in January gave me a different perspective.
    I was probably also worn down from working on Sundays as most drivers take the day off, and even buses have diversions for events, so I still am anxious even before I go to work, and still imagined how it could had been if I was called into work today.
