I just love this!! It is so very rare these days to hear both the piano and organ playing gospel hymns in a church service! Now we are plagued with the "praise team" leading the congregation in awful ditties only they can sing. I hope that the congregation of this church truly appreciates the treasure they have!!!
Janet Flier I keep coming back to hymns that she plays in, she has the talent and brings the music added meaning, piano almost sings the words.what I have listened to here lately isn’t the same.
I agree Janet Flier! I don’t care for contemporary hymns and more churches are singing them these days. But mostly it is a group on stage. Very boring and the same words over and over!
What a blessing you are to your church. I was having trouble sleeping this morning, praying for direction and decided to look pull up some piano/organ duets to comfort me. Every one of your beautiful videos just send in angels to comfort and bless. Please keep posting these wonderful videos.
I love Sharon's smile when she played that perfectly executed scale, not once but twice. Also, at the end, she said "OUCH". Glissandos on Steinway grand pianos can be painful. Sharon and Jay were two top notch musicians. They are both missed! Glad these videos are available to remember their beautiful music. How is Sharon doing? Do you ever hear from her?
In the words of the old hymn, "How marvelous, how wonderful---"! EXCELLENT to hear these great old hymns! I agree completely that the contemporary "praise hymns" become monotonous, singing the same few words over and over!
Brilliant playing....very rare in churches to hear a real piano. Have you tried British hymn tunes ? The 1933 Methodist Hymn Book or the 1962 Baptist Hymn Book from the UK have manty fantastis tunes eg.Lloyd, Wilton, Diadem, Hereford, Miles Lane and Regent Square etc.

Many so-called praise teams have mastered the art of mass torture
@@normathompson427 It’s called, “7-11”, songs. You sing the same seven words eleven times!

She is semi-retired and living with her daughter in Dallas.
@@Panoplyimaging Thank you for letting me know! I love FUMC Houston. You have great music, directors, singers and musicians!
Loved watching and listening to Sharon's very skilled virtuoso performance which was very much in the style of the late great Winifred Atwell
Now that is how you do CHURCH with class!
I agree. That's classy with a beautiful spirit. "Love Lifted Me" is one of my favorite hymn.
So enjoy listening to these old hymns. Wish they were still sung in church. Wonderful messages.
Ms. Sharon looks like she can make a piano jump and run away, saying, "Leave me alone". She's really good!!!!
I really miss these two!
Me too!! Unfortunately, Sharon retired and Jay is dead.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful !!!!
Have you made any disc Sharon. Love your playing with the organ also. Your playing is awesome..
I didn't know you had this kind of music going on, I need to get to church on Sunday mornings if this is the case....

I have listen to this so very much. Just beautiful playing Sharon.
I know we don't get to hear the piano an organ anymore due to praise team and singing off the wall songs
