Yes, it did leave a strong feeling of "something feels lifeless about Night City, like there's something missing." Hopefully the cut content will be finished, polished and delivered as part of these future updates. CP2077 really feels like there's so much POTENTIAL in it. It was just released too early, too soon.
@@Zaxares My problem is that they had like 8 years of development. What exactly did they do in 8 years?
Yeah, cut/missing content is way bigger problem than bugs. You can see big holes almost in every aspect of this game. Take romances for example. CDPR said that sex scene isn't end of romance like in other games, while it actually is. When you finish any romance character questline you don't have any new dialogues or interactions with them at all, you can only repeat old dialogues and thats all. This alone screams as big cut content message for me. Not even mentioning other stuff.
@@Lukeler1138 Easy. So for the first 3 years give or take they likely did nothing. They worked on the proof of concept big picture stuff. Like at first you were going to play as a cop- then things changed.
After that, they got into game dev itself.
1 year: Building the world. The world is big and extremely detailed. This was not AI-generated, they did it all by hand. If you look at RDR2 notice how most is wide open spaces. This enables the team to focus on towns and cities. CDPR went all city. This could have even taken 2 years
1-2 years: Mechanics. This was CDPRs first shooter. Shooters are hard because they rely on small details like visual feedback and sound. Making RED engine support shooting and driving was a process- then fine-tuning them. Then testing skills and cyber augments and making sure they work.
1 year: Story. They needed to cast, record voice acting, make story missions and side missions, and then go through animations.
1 year: bug fixing
Now the Red engine is great at generating AI animations for NPCs. But I can tell they went over it by hand which took time.
Likely they had everything done by late 2019. From there they began to port the game to consoles and bug fix. This took them up until release and was not enough time. Given a game this size that's not a shocker- bug fixing big games is a nightmare.
Keep in mind many of these pieces happen in conjunction. They may have done the world and mechanics at the same time but it would have taken 2 years to complete.

This aged like milk.
A greedy company making a game about greedy, corrupt corporations. Irony.
I thought they made a game about a dude with a brain tumor that looks a lot like Keanu Reeves.
Am I playing the right game?
I mean the Cyberpunk genre has some of those themes in it, but I aint so sure that's the focus of the game...
I really hope they "No Man's Sky" it and learn from their mistakes. The dev team deserves to release the game in its full, finished state.
Completely agree. Despite all its obvious the game is filled with deep love and hard work on every detail.
No man's sky team was a very small ambitious team who didnt know how to BR there game and talked with a game developers mindset and not as public relations mindset. thats why they screwed them selves over. and thats why there come back was super and im so happy for them. However CD Project is much much bigger. they know they were lying thats why even the investors are suing them.
I believe they will.
They wont, they will fix the bugs but will not add the content that was cut
@@alvarocardoso5637 oh damn, what year you came from? Thanks for the info mr time traveler. Lol
Its tragic how CDPR ruined the reputation they built in 10-15 years with a single greedy move...
10-15 years? Nah, that’s cap. They built all the reputation in 5 years since Witcher 3. Before that, no one even spoke of them.
@@The_StrangeMan No, you never spoke of them then. Before The Witcher 3, CDPR had a fan base which not as big as today but still 100.000-200.000s of people loved the first and second The Witcher game and CDPR was always listening to fan feedback & suggestions for the next The Witcher game, then, they released The Witcher 3, which is a masterpiece.
I don't really have an idea how the hell did they end up in this greedy EA style situation but my point is; don't really underestimate old The Witcher community. I was one of them and there are lots of us.
@@turkishsztn4053 my point stands, reputation is having good fame in a large amount. Me, and majority, never heard of them before Witcher 3.
@@turkishsztn4053 I was a fan of CDPR since Witcher 1 and the funny thing is i accidently stepped over W1, bought it, wondered why it doesnt look so good for its time but the more i played Witcher 1 the more i recognized how grown this game really was. A f*cking good rpg for adults.
Me and a friend of mine became instantly fans of them and i adored them for working to closely with the Community...well...i never thought they could end up like this but i must stay realistic by focusing on what happened after Witcher3. Most of the ppl who were responsible for these 3 brilliant games are gone. This company has changed and i didnt want to see it unless i played Cyberpunk2077 and took off my shiny sunglasses.
I hope the rights for this brand goes to a Company that is technically able to develop games.
Correction: A MASSIVE single greedy move
Where are they now?
Probably working on DLC’s.
Coming back from a 6 month holiday most likely.
Spend money on Maldives.
Just here to visit the graveyard
"Our testing did not show a big part of the issues"
Anyone with even the most basic knowledge of working in QA will know damn well that couldn't be true. Not in a company this big. Not without unimaginably extreme mismanagment. Don't throw the testers under the bus when I bet it's the managment who decided their bug reports and concerns weren't as important as the release date. This is just insulting to us, and even more insulting to the overworked dev team.
these companies never learn from the ones before them that fucked up... just come out and say you fucked up, no excuses and go and go away and work on the game. This is why No Mans Sky made a comeback
I heard that they outsourced QA and that was a huge problem when the pandemic hit as most developers were unable to get their stuff tested
Mahn y r these people writing too much
in fact CDPR isnt really that big after all 😅
That's Bullshit.
Wait, he just said that the testers didn't found the problems that the players found after? Yes, sure, tell us more...
... There's at least one bug that could have been hard to find in testing- the 8mb save limit, for example (already patched). It does take quite a while (at least 80 hours) to hit that size assuming you craft a lot and often (multiple thousands of items. Yes, that is definitely possible in a normal playthrough to get money, level crafting and roll the best stats), so I'm not that surprised.
A quest didn't trigger if you advanced to a certain point in the story, and one got bugged if you advanced before it progressed.
I'm assuming they meant those kinds of game breaking bugs, not the "car clips into wall on rare occasions" or "corpse spasms for a second before settling in a wierd position" minor bugs.
Dude theyre paying testers 500 euro monthly XD
@@noisyboyuk The problem is that they either only let the QA test it on PC and ignore the performance issues on the consoles, or they knew how bad it was on console and lied about the current state. It seemed like the latter is true bc of the fact they withheld reviewer footage from consoles and forced other reviewers to only play their specific review model.
@@noisyboyuk That literally justifies nothing here. I dont care how your pipeline works, 85% of this game is purely unplayable for a large majority of last gen users. You're telling me NOBODY was able to notice this? I absolutely refuse to be that positive with these people now.
@@NZMPlays after playing Witcher 3, Fallout 4 and three other games on PS 4 it was pretty obvious for me that the lifetime of this console is over ! LOL
sold it and done
the era for console players is pretty much over despite Nintendo still being unique and worth it if you liker their games
even if I still would have owned the PS4 I wouldn't have ordered the game beforehand. Common sense
I trust them to continue make great games. Loved Witcher and will play Cyberpunk someday on PC
Console uses should stop crying, come over it and sell the shit / invest in PC and be happy
"Reeves played the game and he loved it" - _-
They will never be trusted again.
They obviously made the video for legal reasons. Especially the part about "we didn't see the issues during tests that you saw." is important from a legal point of view, because if they DID see the issues, without telling investors. They would be liable for fraud, which some of the lawsuits are about.
You gotta always keep in mind that a publicly traded company has a lot more stuff going on behind the scenes than privately owned companies.
This comment nailed it
First comment i can agree upon. Devteam trying to hold up to expectations but shareholders pushing the release. Corpo-disaster
Legend man! Speak the truth
Finally an anime pfp opinion that i can agree with
Out of curiousity, and I know this is a nitpick, but aren't publicly traded companies also private owned?
I hate how they still don’t even acknowledge that the game is still fundamentally underdeveloped at its best.
exactly, many of the things they promised are missing. Now he's just talking about fixes, but what about the promised content?
It should have been called an "early access" release.
@ what's missing?
@@tony-on8xp a loooot of rpg elements. I also suggest crowbcat's video
@@sausagetuti The game was made in 2 years. Really there's an article from anonymous CD Projekt developers that talked about the development process.
So, where are the results
It's almost 2022, and, nothing changes.
On a decent PC the game is fine.
they've literally released thousands of bug fixes, and the performance is night and day.
"We will release it when it's ready."
that didn't age well
Yep, another lie..
Ahahahahhahah nice joke
Ok, people wanted them to release it, they didn't release it on their own accords
... when GTA 7 released
They didn't allow reviewers to record their own footage. Seems like they knew it was going to fail.
Of course
@@NINETYSIXMARS I know some people will roast me for saying this but I never saw the fuss about The Witcher. Sure it was a very pretty world they created but it lacked engagement for me. I tried several times to get into and each time I just never got that far. It had great storytelling but the gameplay was lacking. And let's be honest the enemy AI wasn't particularly smart. CDPR are great at stylistic storytelling and building narratives and ambience to match that narrative. You can see this in Cyberpunk. But let's face it they have very little experience of creating open worlds that can hold their own independent of the main narrative. If you stripped away the story of Witcher 3 and just focussed purely on the open world elements you'll find the same problems as there are in Cyberpunk. It's a very average open world with less than basic mechanics. It pales in comparison to any Rockstar open world. Not only has Cyberpunk shown CDPR to be massive liars and cynical marketers who favour profiteering over quality but it's also shown us as a game developer they're actually not that good. I'm sure another 2 years of development would've significantly improved Cyberpunk but I highly doubt they would've delivered this highly intuitive AI system as they claimed or physics that would be better than GTA V. I think this is the point people miss with Cyberpunk. CDPR are just not that good. As far as skill levels go they're still an Indie studio. They believed their own hype and lost all sense of objectivity.
@@JayzVeez Honestly, as someone who has played through Witcher 3 several times, I agree and do see your point - it makes a lot of sense. Especially when you realise how many systems in Cyberpunk resemble the Witcher 3’s.
January of 2022: no dlc since release, 2 small patches that didn't lift status of the game from alpha to beta. liars
Still waiting on these promises
They spent more time making trailers than the game itself
They promoted and advertised the game a lot to hype it up
But ended up becoming the most disappointing games off all time
They were CGI trailers, too. I hate those sometimes because they don't even show off the base gameplay.
too busy marketing the game instead of working on it
Like every game company
tbf the actual story is quite good. Still buggy but it's playable and it's pretty fun. definitely not worth £50 at the moment but if you do own it, it's definitely worth playing.
I almost believed you until you said “we never ever intended on anything like this to happen” when you deliberately did not allow reviewers of the console version of the game to post video of the experience and then held them under an NDA. Foh.
And the Gold state.
Devs don't make those decisions, Idiots.
@@TheMidnightArcade of course they dont. The executives (like this guy) does.
I think they not allow to show because they working on game till realase day and didn't want to show broken game
@@ggghd32zza65 the games still in a broken state after the release and patches
a year after this apology and I still have a sub par version of the game. NPCs are falling through walls, heaps of items that should be able to be collected aren't able to be picked up etc.
This apology is worth nothing.
dont forget the massive amount of cut content is still cut. aka the big casino with nice pools and stuff. they shouldve joined up with rockstar to create this game and still shouldve done another 2 years of development even with that massive work forcex
@Vinecars I can't agree more. I still play it because, fuck it, I spent hard earned cash on it... but every time I play, it boils my blood because I know how incredible this could have been had they delivered what they promised.
