Haha, social distancing ... Hiking in the high mountains with the clear wind in your hair and the warm sun from the big sky on your skin is also a kind of healthy mental distancing, really measurable boosts your immune system. Even on very busy days you give me the chance to sense this by watching your videos! So thank you very much, doc!
I went up Teddys Peak, 12,565 feet nearby, in 1974. In 1996 I was back for Trinchera with my 91 pound Samoyed dog. At about 12,700 feet on Trinchera, Frosty suddenly sat down. He knew I wanted to go up, and he felt it was too steep for him so he waited. I called to him going up and coming back, we went to camp at 9900 feet and had a nice night's sleep.
I was camping with my daughter down at the Bear lake campground back in early July and really regret not having hiked up to Trinchera. I believe we were on the east side of this peak. Such incredible views and solitude on this awesome hike, BRAVO! Did you get to that north fork trailhead going through La Veta and Cuchara?

Thank you for sharing this hike. Very nice to have the trail & mountain to yourself.
Love those high altitude ridges with views all around.

Great hike. I’ve got three days of hiking coming up in the Rocky Mountain National Park. Any recommendations?

Thank you so much! I did get the north fork trailhead and did a massive loop! Really, it's one of the best ridge hikes I've done.
Do you carry a sat phone or GPS locator device? If so, which one? Thanks!
