Kind of late but I'm pretty sure after Nxf7 for the rook fork, black would ignore the threat and take the rook to promote to a queen. Then after Rxf1 there's Qxf1 and mate is incoming with Ng3, because Ng3 opens up the line for the rook who pins the pawn to the king so the pawn can't take the knight. And black wins.
Because it's extremely defensive, it's hard to attack using it. It's bad for Hikaru because we all know how Hikaru likes to absolutely slam through his opponent's defenses, so a defensive opening for him is bad. But Levy was playing someone who is much better than him and an attacking master, so the caro kann defense is actually good for levy in this match.
