yeah chess players can be insane with these memorisations xD during the candidates i watched a stream where one off the hosts talked about a game he had against one guy who was in the comment section. They played each other in a championship apparently it was played back in the 90s and it was a queen endgame xDD
Chess players usually Analyse their games later. Often even multiple times.
Also things are a lot easier to remember when you understand them and are fully focused on the with a lot of emotions for hours none stop.
I don't think it takes any particularly great memory to remember things under these circumstances even 10, 20 or even 30 years later.

We’ve seen it many times. Hikaru underestimates the opponent, gets careless and distracted and loses. I’d say that’s one of his greatest weaknesses.
It happens like 1/1000. He can often be distracted and win anyway
I mean this guy is talking about random topics like which stocks he bought, replying to messages on his screen, reading chat, and playing chess at the same time. Anyone would be distracted at that point. He still wins 99% of the games though.

I was wondering at 3:14 why Levy doesn't play Nf4 to pretty much ask the Queen what her purpose is only to find out by the engine that its the best move at -10! If Queen takes, it's mate! Engine is saying if Nf4 to sac the Whites Rook f2 lol Finally seeing all the time studying chess in my free time pay off.
I don't know if it paid off since Kf4 is not even a legal move. ;P

how his arrows and mark colour is different?
you can hold Shift or CTRL or ALT on your keyboard while making the arrows to have different colours. This also works for highlighting squares.

Kind of late but I'm pretty sure after Nxf7 for the rook fork, black would ignore the threat and take the rook to promote to a queen. Then after Rxf1 there's Qxf1 and mate is incoming with Ng3, because Ng3 opens up the line for the rook who pins the pawn to the king so the pawn can't take the knight. And black wins.

Because it's extremely defensive, it's hard to attack using it. It's bad for Hikaru because we all know how Hikaru likes to absolutely slam through his opponent's defenses, so a defensive opening for him is bad. But Levy was playing someone who is much better than him and an attacking master, so the caro kann defense is actually good for levy in this match.

if Qb6 hikaru blocks with Qd4 if levy takes on b2 hikaru wins the knight on e5 by playing Bxe5 Bxe5 Qxe5+ and wins the pawn on g7 on the same occasion.
