    Thanks for the stock music ! I surely didn't want to hear the names as they were announced.

    I'm happy for the team! But I feel so bad for Shayla Worley!

    I think it's really funny how Jana and Ivana looked devastated and Corrie looked like the happiest person alive.

      @UnequivocallyME Год назад +1

      Jana probably had high expectations for herself and since she was so strong on bars, she probably felt she was a shoo-in. I read Ivana had a fractured ankle during the trials and Al Fong forced her to compete injured. Before the selection camp she left Gage and was probably not feeling well still having been injured. Corrie was probably shocked she was selected over the likes of Shayla Worley so I’m sure getting to that point was a huge achievement in her eyes.

    None of the athletes selected were a surprise to me...except for Sloan. It was a 3 way race for the 6th spot between Sloan, Hong and Beiger. It could have been anyone of them.

    So happy for Chellsie, she's one unlucky athlete.

    Also, Alicia is a powerhouse but nerves and expectations got to her during the Games. She was an excellent choice for this team. Peszek is absolutely as powerful and nearly identical to Johnson, but was never hyped up like Johnson + Liukin, save for one underground documentary on her training.

    Also don't know why shayla acted like she was gonna make the team after falling on bars at trials. It was clear they needed a bar worker who could also vault if need be and that was why they chose Sloan over Beiger

    Yeah u have the two depressed alternates and the excited alternate. That always happens though. Can't wait to see all those girls who are sticking with the sport!

  • @mht4908
    @mht4908 4 года назад +2

    I was surprised that Jana Bieger was the alternate instead of Bridget. Jana's a good bar worker, plus the US needed a 4th floor worker and Bridget fell. I think the only reason Bridget was chosen over her was that she had a DTY instead of Jana's 1.5 Yurchenko

    That's awful but I'm so glad that she's going for 2012. My coach always said Al Fong was a bad coach.

    • @KaraMYoung
      @KaraMYoung 8 лет назад +14

      If USA and China had both gone 12 for 12, China would have come out on top. If Cheng Fei had still fallen on beam and the US had gone 12 for 12, we would've won. If Alicia Sacramone had only fallen on beam, we still would've lost. Her fall on floor didn't matter at that point. China was crazy deep in 2008

    • @2134knees

      But she had the injury right before the team was chosen at this Camp, so I think she was still coming to terms with the fact that her dream was ripped out from under her due to the injury, and I don't see her as rude.

  • @czucksk84life

    i've heard rumors that she's looking into Chow's but as of recently i've heard she's still looking.

    she left al fong because nearing the olympics he ignored a fractured ankle of hers and verbally abused her. she's going for 2012 with a different coach

  • @yecatsb
    @yecatsb 16 лет назад +1

    I think she should go to WOGA because they do very artistic gymnastics which is Ivana's style. Then again, that would mean uprooting the entire family again.

      I think so. She was amazing on Bars which was needed. And she could have done the other events too.

  • @karenKristal

    How come they don't decide this at the Olympic trials competition?

    • @SDoesNotKnow
      @SDoesNotKnow 8 лет назад +4

      They do now, thanks to new USOC rules. For some reason, Marta wanted another camp in-between trials and the Olympics to choose a team. That happened for 2004 and 2008 and gymnasts were clearly burnt out with the overlong pressure-filled process by the time the Olympics rolled around both times. Now Marta has no choice but to announce it after Day 2 of Trials because USOC/ (maybe NBC also has something to do with this) wants the official list by a certain time and USAG/NBC now schedules trials close to that time. No time for another needless camp at the Ranch.

    • @KaraMYoung
      @KaraMYoung 8 лет назад +3

      I mean, they still have the camp....the order is just reversed. In 2008 they had selection camp, named the team, and left for Beijing right after that. In 2012 and this year, too, they announced the team at Trials and then the girls went to a training camp before heading to the Games. There's a final camp before the Olympics regardless; they just do the selection at Trials instead of at the conclusion of camp now. And they still do selection for Worlds the way they did Olympic selection in 2004 and 2008. Nationals are in August then there's a September camp before Worlds selection camp in October. They don't name the World team until within a few days of it being time to leave.

      Boxer 2000 exactly. We can’t second guess in hindsight. Even without her 2 falls the U.S. still wouldn’t have beaten the Chinese. I think it had a lot more to do with injuries on the team, particularly Chelsie.

    • @mht4908
      @mht4908 4 года назад

      Candace Bordelon, Ph.D. Very true. If they made no mistakes (without the 1.6 off from Alicia and the 0.2 from Shawn and Nastia), they still would’ve came behind the Chinese team, even though they would’ve given them more pressure so who knows if the Chinese would’ve been affected

    • @bethanymclean2136
      @bethanymclean2136 3 года назад

      @@candacebordelonph.d.8890 Exactly. If Chellsie wasn't injured than I doubt Alicia would've been doing beam. I don't think she would've fallen on floor had she not just fallen on beam.
