Yeah, that's what i was thinking. Everyone who trained with 'normal fists for a few years will do it automatically. Especially in a real confrontation. It must be really difficult to unlearn something as basic is making a fist.
It’s all muscle memory. Just like you make a fist without thinking about it the more you do the triangular fist the more first nature it becomes. Eventually you’re going to do it without even thinking about it. Plain and simple
this reminds me of a topic I read a while ago that spoke about the "gentrification of martial arts" where certain technical and structural ideas as well as philosophies and soft skills are lost through societal pandering and cultural changes, one thing I remember was that "even the most brutal fighting arts will become tame to the soft" where because of rules and changes simple but effective ideas and teachings are lost to the art, "ideology must never compromise the art or science, fact must never become subjective to suit, but us to the fact"

If you know how to do it you can make a "cub paw" where you land ur punches with the outside of your finger knuckles when your hand is cupped and keep your fingers structures so they collapse structurally but you can hold fingers up with muscle power. Now you can make contact in sparing or kung fu movies without actually hurting your friend. I call it "Cub Paw" its basically punching with your last finger knuckles curved in such a way so your fingers become bendy twigs instead of hammers. Its basically the exact opposite of packing your fist as efficiently as possible.

You don't really need to do this when wearing gloves assuming you're also wearing wraps. But I believe there may be something to this technique, I've seen a few guys like Benny the jet hold their first like this.. I always assumed it was because his hands were battered and broken but maybe that's not the reason he does this
My thing is fights happen fast.. So I'm not sure instincts wouldn't take over and a person wouldn't just make a normal fist. This takes serious repetition..
Thats super cool, but if i have to preform a mobility exercise with my fist before a punch, then its probably not viable. I could do it durong practice, but in the moment im not convinced
i think thats an ancient Okinawan karate thing where some people can tuck in their first 2 knuckles with their thumb to make their hand even denser. But you CAN break your thumb if you mess up and thumb gets caught on something. But it really does make your fist tighter sometimes I fist clench like this when im walking around as training. After holding a super tight fist for 5 minutes it feels pretty prickly. I havent tried tucking the last 2 fingers in with your triangle style Ill have to play around with it.
I'm not dismissing this but when I do this it feels like I'll break my middle finger with the first shot Idk. I've got big meaty hands so it's pretty hard to get this down
Yeah weird how all the comments are super into this. My hand cant do this and if i force it i definitely feel like my fingers are way misaligned to where theyll break if i put power into a punch.
@@wingedsaiyan I can make this fist and it feels hella solid, but it's not very natural to make it like this so I don't know if I could replace a normal fist with it. Man I'm glad this is out. I learned this a long time ago. The reality of it is you don't have to throw it hard because it stays attached at all times. When you glide through and throw it. It's smooth with no eternal kick back. I used to walk with military hands everywhere. The fingers curl with the thumb holding the first finger by its middle fold. Then by that straighten the arm and its more power that the grenade hold punch. I used it one time an it fractured a cheek bone. I threw it as a jab. Look up how the US soldier hand is when marching.
