Mallard. My favourite class of British loco. I spent a happy afternoon at York Railway Museum where Mallard reside, drinks and cuppa tea and eating a flapjack right next to the front of this loco.
Nice video! Also pretty sure you left a piece of road at Leigh to be a large country road in the city. Also for a potential HQ place, probably Loughton i guess. It's the first place you grew, and the first place the company made some money. Probably you should put it there as a gratitiude for the townfolks.
The heart of your empire *is* that food line. I'd put the HQ about here: 33:41. On that hill south of Thathum, do a little landscaping and perch up top. Bring a private road down to connect to the heart of your network.
One thing that is bugging me is the Romsey Oil refinery to Fuel refinery journey that is done by trucks. There is already a train track connecting the two, just use the same train that is bringing in the crude in to the oil refinery to take the oil back to fuel refinery and get paid to go back half way as well. Currently that train going back the whole way empty and not getting paid. That can be more efficient. $$$ P.S. I know when you're playing the game these things don't jump out at you and you're thinking about other stuff as well (trust me, I know I have a gaming channel as well). But that's we are here for :) loving these, i might play this game on my channel as well.

Up until EP.9, I just bought myself a copy of the game. Great video. I’m a big fan of TTD since launched, 1995 I guess, and never thought I’m gonna see any game come close to that. But this one definitely will, and maybe, exceed my expectation. 🎉
I really hope you will use some planes before the series is over. Seeing how much you have accumulated already, you probably won‘t need it for a billion.
I love using the planes, but they get disappointing later in the game; the map's so relatively small that the more modern jets barely have time to get up to speed before they're slowing down for descent again. And it's too easy to overload an airport with flights. TF1 had a Concorde, and even on biggest (stock) map size with the longest rectangle orientation, it couldn't reach top speed.
@@IstasPumaNevada It would be nice to see if they can add some sort of "external connection" feature to some maps to allow for international or long distance travel. This would be seamless for planes and could also work for roads/trains if they added small segments of tracks at the border of the map. Tourism would depend on overall region growth.
Your 2-track stations are currently limited to one train because of missing signals. You need to place a TWO-way signal on each track between the platform and the diamond.
I'm really liking this series, watching everything grow and progress almost exponentially every episode is really nice to see. My idea for a HQ would be on the hilly area between Romsey and Mitcheldean. You want it so you can survey all the towns you've worked on so far.
Loving the series, I'm a Squirrel vids addict and haven't played this game yet but will do on this recommendation. My vote for the HQ would be the island in the river to keep off the land for towns to expand and keep away from rails and roads too. This also gives a space for a land hop later on.
My vote for the headquarters goes to the space between Worthing and Biggleswade. Both of those cities require the two most difficult cargo types (longest production chain - goods and machines). It would be a display of mastery to make your home the centerpiece of both of these difficult yet fulfilled cities.
Hey Squirrel!Excellent series! I went and bought the game after watching the first two and am sort of following along. Something I learned - you can have a train that is longer than the platform. The length of the platform I believe only dictates the amount of goods that can be stored there. But I had a consist that was nearly half a K long on a 40m platform and it worked just fine.
You skipped the signaling on the Romsey-Mitcheldean line. I'd hate to see that train unregulated, as train drivers tend to get a little lead-footed. As far as your Headquarters, I don't know what they are ultimately for, but you seem to be dominating the Eastern side of the map. Maybe build your own mountain fortress near your most prosperous city and you can even run train tunnels through it to assert your dominance.
Well, thinking of potential nearby cities for your headquarters, _historically_ your company did _start_ in Loughton, so _that_ would make sense, but as the decades have gone by I feel like the "center" of your empire in terms of economic "weight" and activity has kind of shifted East and South (in roughly that order). In _that_ light, if you'd rather, I'd consider Thatcham and Romsey: Mablethorp-and-Sutton-Thatcham was your first big-money passenger line, and Thatcham continues to be important as the production hub of your lucrative Thatcham-Loughton Food and Alcohol trade line. Romsey got its start with the Company _earlier_ than Thatcham, as an expansion point for your oil and gas transport work, which is the business your company got its start in, and those lines still make very good money to this day. Romsey is also on the southern "frontier" of your empire, near the Company's current "pet projects", the towns of Leigh and Mitcheldean. And as an interesting sidenote, there's a prominent hill between Mitcheldean, Romsey, Leigh, and Loughton, and Mitcheldean, though currently small, is rather centrally-located in terms of your entire region. That list turned out a bit longer than I intended, but there's some roleplay-focused food for thought.

I can see how easily it can become overwhelming if you're not organized. I really like the labels and colors you've added to each line. That's huge when it comes to organization (which is obviously key). I don't know what a HQ is or what it does so I can't really offer a suggestion for the best place to put it.
I think it's just the RUclips compression algorithm, but the initial train camera view appeared to have some artifacts (usually seen in lower resolution videos) even at 1080p. But, other than that, great content as always.
i think a great place for the headquarters would be square bang in the middle of thatcham, seen as it is pretty much the birthplace of your company. The Island idea is also badass though
HQ should be some miles away from micheldean with some costal line passing away from the HQ building. it'd be in the center or maybe not center but something like ahead of micheldean to kinda cover or monitor the whole map.
Bottom right corner of the map there is a town there that reminds me of switzerland. Surrounded by mountains/hills. An appropriate area to safeguard your wealth :)
I am for creating your own peek in a corner of the map and placing your headquarters on top of that, so that you can say "All that the sun touches is my kingdom"
You use the A4 to replace the food to alcohol line I recommend use the A3 flying Scotsman because it’s more economical and has a lower top speed that matches the large green silo tanker thing
Flippin' 'eck Squirrel. This is why I can't sustain a transport empire in hard mode... When it asks ME to place an HQ, I look at the biggest city with the most connections. I NEVER consider Bond-villain locations like tops of mountains or private islands!
Started wathing this series when episode 3 was out, and about 2 or 3 episodes ago I decided it was likely to get this game when I have to money for it. Has been fantastic so far. Also, the track laying here is oh so much better than in Cities Skylines.
Just watching the vids 2 months after published. I have never heard or seen or heard of a company head quarter's. I'm looking forward to binging the remaining videos in this series.
11:40 is the problem I consistently have, I have 2 lines from the same station, it fills platform 1 to the point where it’s losing cargo but won’t stock a full truck load on platform 2 and my trucks/trains sit empty waiting until the finally leave with 25% capacity or so, I can’t figure out how to fix that.

Putting a Sir Nigel Gresley designed A4 Pacific (in that horrendous colour I might add) heading up a booze train is, quite frankly, sacrilege Sir. This is akin to telling the queen to empty bins, and you should be ashamed of yourself, a lengthy prison term should be imposed for this crime. 2 more A 3/5s or BR 75.4 bads would have sufficed I'm sure, lol. Apart from this act of cataclysmic outrageousness, this is a brilliant series and please keep going with it beyond a billion. So need this game in my life.

With regards to your Corporate office build a little island and place it on it with a really cool bridge to the mainland also really enjoying the series I recently upgraded from TF to TF2 so this has really helped me to make this game really enjoyable to play thanks once again and I can't wait for faster trains.

You should find the perfect geographical center of the map and build it there. Then see about getting the nearest town to grow enough to surround your HQ.
soooo, just 2 small things i noticed while watching. on grain 2 u bought a wrong truck on accident, doesnt hurt much tho i guess. and ur new fueltrainline got no signals, which also doesnt really matter yet, considering u got just 1 train, therefore he can go where and how he pleases :D
Why use the Mallard for the food? The track is electrified so the BR E 94 (Which has double the tractive effort, but only goes 90 km/h) or the Ae 4/7 (higher tracktive effort, 100 km/h and lower cost) could be used.
You can put HQ beyond the map boundary btw. What I did was, went to a corner of map, got HQ, and placed it right to the edge. While building HQ, As long as your mouse pointer is within map confinement, you can build HQ beyond map boundaries. 😂

I would play this game but i have no understanding of keeping up with demand for that game and just the basic connecting physics to make anything work so i love to watch just episodes of this and just chat to people who play this :3 i even have the game but not installed since i have no understanding

That 40 minutes flew by watching this, I got so into it and thought what was a minute in real life seem like 10 seconds!

I guess Passenger train's profit start increasing if you connect atleast 3 to 4 stations together after your towns grow to a certain size.

Why not use the class A3? It also does 120 kph and it is cheaper than the class A4. Also, the train can be longer than the platform.

Place the romsey station strategically! You could bring it on above leigh and curve it to the left of leigh so you can easely get a line across later
