- Do you find yourself playing city builders because you like managing a complete transportation and logistics network? If so, the game we're playing today - Transport Fever 2 - might be right up your alley.
I'm not sure that any game has been requested more on the channel other then this one, so in this mini-series, we'll give the game a shot by learning it's mechanics through the campaign mode. This video will cover the first chapter, which takes place in the Nevada Territory in the mid-1800s South West of the United States. We'll build our first horse-drawn cargo and passenger vehicles, as well as build our first steam train.
Enjoy!

Like this comment if you want me to do a free play after 3 campaign episodes (enough to learn how to play). If this hits 250 likes, that'll be the plan!
If this does hit 250 likes, maybe you could do the missions either in stream or add bonus content to members/Patreon folk. I personally thumbed up because I'm very curious to see you apply your play style to a sandbox (I've only ever watched a RUclipsr named Raptor play this game, he has a very different approach than you I think).
This better hit 250 likes 😂
About time you added this to your channel. Tighten up buttercup.
The video made more 😂😂😂 please use those likes
I hope people see this to like it! a series would be awesome, love this game
The dotted animated paths that appear when placing a stop are a more definitive way of seeing where people will walk from/to for that stop
As someone with 4k hours+ I think I should explain some things, detailing is amazing, and that’s not including mods, speaking of mods, I think it should have been mentioned more as well, with thousands of mods that improve the game in numerous ways are amazing! There’s countless great discords for the game as well, also the depots don’t need road connections, but it you want to for realism nothing is stopping you. Overall this is by far my favorite game and can’t wait to see you play more!
what are some discords?
@@okabc-ho9xwmore than one discord
There is multiple such as general tpf2 Server, as well as servers for specific regions and country's, such as North America, United Kingdom, Germany, France.
I haven't played this game but I watch a lot of it on YT. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE a mode just like this for Cities Skylines too. I love being able to progress through history with historically accurate buildings and vehicles.
Thanks for picking up this game!! I've loved every part of your transportation management in cities skylines series and just wanted more of it, and now I do!!
Makes me so happy especially since I'm abroad and unable to play and get to see your amazing attention to details and in depth explanation of what you're doing and why. I love it
I like it! I agree with you it’s laid back and lets you enjoy the missions come together. Keep playing it!
I am in the middle of my playthrough of Transport Fever 2 rn, so the timing is great!
It doesn't matter what game you play, it's you that're so entertaining and comforting! You make me want to play pretty much every game you do, but I don't have the time or money for that, so I just enjoy watching your gameplay. Thanks for introducing me to such interesting games! Keep being you!
Your Carson City "Bus" would probably be considered an Omnibus, which I think is where we get the term "Autobus/bus".
City skylines player: Finally, some simulator guide to help my city management.
this is such a pretty game. i would love to see a full playthrough of the missions first, then sandbox :)
I've recently re-started this game again :D Wonderful to see you giving it a go aswell, Phil.
Camera controls still work when you're riding a vehicle, so you can look from different perspectives. Also, if you click the little google maps pin in the upper left of the vehicle window, you pin the camera to it but still in the 3rd person view.
When assigning vehicles, you don't have to select every vehicle. If you select no vehicle, it assumes you want to send all available vehicles on that route.
TPF2 is such a great game. Once you’ve finished the campaign, an America through time type series would be excellent to watch.
"Well make it a short series"
*shows clip of Shorts 340 taking off*
HAH! Brilliant.
I would love to see you weave a story for the cities in a series for this game.
First Person View is what l loved about Both Skylines thanks to modders.
Oh, playing this when l came across your new build.
Welcome to the gang.
Edit, a move it mod on this would rock.
The mods make this game shine. Better Camera Mod etc all make it great.
Would love to see you play more of this. Very fun game.
While using the cockpit camera, you can move around to look at the train or along the cars, or sorta jank/warp into the passenger car. When you get the steam bus called L'obeissante u gotta see it up close!
TF2 seems a lot of fun, and certainly seems like it improves from the first one a lot.
From what i remember, Virginia City was a pretty cool place to visit. Got to tour the old mine the town is built over. Also Mark Twain (a.k.a. Samuel Clemens) lived there if I remember correctly.
He was the reporter referenced in the "Monstrous Beast" side mission. Not sure of the tall tale of the misson is a reference to anything he wrote though
Ah I love this game, where the most lucrative market in the transport market is air lifting bricks across the country.
Ah, this game finally got your attention! Have been a huge fan of this game since TF1
I'm a big fan of this game, have sunk a ton of hours in it trying to make things as efficient as possible. :)
I picked this up when I determined C:S2 wouldn't work for me. I love it!
great first episode! excited to see how you tackle the later challenges
I've actually never seen the campaign! And yes for making this a series!
amazed to hear a correct pronunciation of Nevada hell yeah
I love this game so much. Just wish it had more realistic cities/city-building.
Crossover between cities and TF2 woild be the best thing ever to me
I did not known I needed this video before I saw it.
When you said “short series” the airplane taking off was a Shorts 360.
Oh man, TF2. Glad to see you hitting some of the "indie" titles. This is one of my most played Eco-Builder Sims 👍
I have SO MANY HOURS in this game, and about 1600 mods. It can be as simple or as stupidly detailed as you want
Also of note, mod support may be coming to current gen consoles later this year. Or that's the plan, at least, per the official website.
please make a series out of this!
The “sad W” keys? XD
This game is extremely fun.
Thank you for pronouncing my state correctly....!!!
$23890 in 1865? That is $459,549.80 today according to a random inflation calculator I found.
Found one of those, original, from the 1860s for $15,750.00. A bit worse for wear but in good shape considering its age.
"RAVE FRAME SCHOONER COVERED WAGON" is the type.
Then you have to add a horse of course which in todays money is about $1k (2000 for the pair?). But the amount of money the game charges, you can probably buy half the county...
I loved it please urn his into a little series
One of my favorite games.
A "horse bus" is called a coach by the way 😂
hit it with 100 ep playthrough,,,,,,Am in
guess i'll play this since cities skylines 2 wont start since the february update
Damn it, I missed the Steam sale, apparently.
:Sigh: Take my money.
Would like to see the a whole Play through of it from ccp
I love this game
Yes series plss
00:04 Albert Elementary principal: black?!
Darn just missed the sale on this one.
Keep up the good work!
Thank you!
This doesn't deserve to be a short series, it deserves to be comparable, if not a direct auxiliary to your current city builds in CS:2 & CS:1
that's so true
Nah
@@artistfkaW What is mentally, physically, and spiritually wrong with you. jkjk.
@@BattleshipOrion I agree!
I love TF2!! It's just one of those games where you can completely lose track of time because building those profitable lines and then see the rewards for it, it's just so addictive.
now there are 3 TF2s, TF2,TF2 and TF2 (team fortress, titanfall, transport fever)
lol for that reason a lot of us (in the discord) refer to it as TpF2
Where are the hats though!?
@@balintx2980 and all 3 absolutely slap
Take notes Cities Skylines 2, the streets and the train tracks as well as the grass of the backyards all smoothly fade into the surrounding ground textures, this is how it's supposed to look like, not 1 row of grey pixels next to one row of green pixels.
Exactly.
and transport fever 2 came out 4 years ago now, or something like that.
Great game tons of great mods ontop.
That's when you noticed how a bad job CO did with CS2!
why do you all talk about CS2 even in videos unrelated to it lmao awk
@@h.f6364 because we loved one, hung out for two, and had our dreams shattered.
I'd love to see you complete a play through of this game! I've been really enjoying myself but always appreciate the extra guidance and tips that come from your real-world experience
I'm on board for this being its own mini-series.
missed opportunity for a bridge review...
A Rce fan, I see
we have a bridge here and you know what this means? We need a bridge Review.
This bride is a old fashioned stone bride built in the 1850s of 19 th century. The bridge is stable enough to carry a steam lokomotive and around 300 feet high. So all in all, a great bridge. So i give this bridge a 6.9 out of 10. Bridge revieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew.
If its not the strongest shape hes not happy
23:08 campaign side quest legit just said “yeah so there’s the corpse of a child at the bottom of that lake, but don’t worry about it, it’s just a shrunken frozen Bigfoot that we chased off, no further questions.”
One thing that I love is that the game developers had quite a sense of humour. A bit dark at times. For example in the Switzerland mission set in the 1930s, you'll find some sarcastic references to the events that were happening in Germany at that time...
You can move the Cockpit Camera while riding in vehicles using W/A/S/D, Q/E, Z/X, and R/F. So you can ride inside the locomotive or any of the passenger cars. Check out all the Key Mappings in Settings by clicking the Menu icon in the upper-right corner, then Settings, then Keyboard.
Thanks for the playthrough of Transport Fever 2. Along with Timberborn and Stationeers, it is one of my three favourite games. I'm looking forward to watching more.
also you can look around using the mouse
The "Ponderosa Ranch" was a reference to the TV show "Bonanza" it even sits on top of a mountain ridge just like in the show.
Yep, even the Cartwrights were mentioned in game!
He's probably too young for that show, but I guarantee he'd recognize that theme song if he heard it.
He's definitely older than me lol but yeah it probably just didn't click if he did watch it. Great show though!
The show was supposed to take place in the area and the town scenes were filmed in Virginia City, which still has the Old West buildings. It was the starting city for the scenario.
also Sam Hawkens and the phrase "if i'm not mistaken" are a reference to the german book series "Winnetou" by Karl May, in which he's one of the side characters who always says "wenn ich mich nich' irre" which can be translated to "if i'm not mistaken"
Let's be honest, campaigns are boring because everyone has the same story. Now to make it interesting is by doing your own story on a custom map
I’m going to pin a comment asking for people to thumbs up it if they want me to move to free play after a couple campaign episodes.
@@CityPlannerPlays I think we all know know this is how Johnson Aggregates got started…
i recognise you from joe dobson!
@@JoeTW67 hi, yeah Joe is doing great on his 2 TF2 series. Maybe CPP could watch that to learn the mechanics of this game
Love me some Transport Fever 2, please make this series as long running as you can handle
I don't usually comment on these, but I definitely want to see this be made into a series !
i love these games where you build transport and the cities build based on your progress in feeding their needs. i started with that theme way back in chris sawyer's locomotion. open ttd is a newer game with that tile aesthetic. i wish cities skylines had a game mode that was similar to these transport games where you build networks and watch the cities grow themselves over time. with realistic zoning and such. even these old games do this too. they have industrial, shop, and house zones and setting up transport between them helps them grow too. ah. i love it.
The Ponderosa ranch and the Cartwrights... Are we gunna start filming Bonanza soon?
I think they don't have the copyrights for that yet.
Steam sales are the bane of my bank account.
Tell me about it!!
I do believe Ponderosa and the Cartwright Ranch is a reference to the old show Bonanza.
BTW, I would love for this to become a series. I love this game.
Born and raised in Carson City here, loving the lore-Lake Tahoe (though the real thing is so much more beautiful), the Cartwrights at the Ponderosa (does anyone remember "Bonanza"?), and even Sam Clemens at the Territorial Enterprise, before he became famous as Mark Twain!
This game is great, and i feel like it is a bit of a hidden gem. It has some decent campaigns, and millions of asset and map mods that make the game way better (just like with Cities Skylines).
There are 2 major drawbacks that all games in this series suffer from: poor optimization (it just really dislikes some graphics cards), and the cities just don't grow nearly big enough for any kind of realism (some modded maps do plop multiple cities right next to each other to kind of try to make a larger city, but the supply-demand will always stay seperate between the 2).
Dang, limiting city growth removes so much incentive
@@Shmew455rcities always keep growing, but they are small to begin with, so they never reach real-life sizes.
Then again, every resident that you see walking around in this game is an individual npc with its own name, address, workplace and transport preferences (you can see all that by clicking on them). So, naturally, it would kill the game performance to have a city with a million residents, because the game would need to simulate a million npcs travelling around nonstop. That's why city sizes are scaled down, and they might feel a bit underwhelming at times.
TF1 & 2 really nicely fills that Transport Tycoon Deluxe gap nothing else has quite nailed.
Please do another playthrough of Manor Lords sometime! It was really enjoyable to see you become a medieval leader "what an absolute bloodbath" 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Better to wait until the game is in a better state in 6-12 months.
@@somerandomperson8282 in a better state than CS2. i still love CS2 tho
11:00 GORGE-ous!😂
The devs have also stated that their plan is to release several iterations of Transport fever until their product will have everything from AI competitors to huge maps. Transport fever series is a project that will take decades to reach the final product but they are open and honest about releasing a new version whenever they have something significant to add to it. I expect it to be a game series I'll happily introduce to my future kids.
*insert "heavy breathing" cat meme here*
Glad you’re playing TF2! I always thought you would really enjoy the road/rail building tools. The ability to choose bridge/berm/tunnel and slope mechanics are my favorite.
my favorite virtual model railroad simulator :) There are so many amazing mods with nearly every possible vehicle and train on the workshop and other sites. After playing CS2 for a while, I have totally forgotten how nice leveled lots look like, instead of the stretched asphalt parking lots and weird sidewalks. Also the smooth placement and fiddleless building.
As a Transport Fever 2 player myself, I reccomend installing some Steam Engine Mods, so you have a big selection to choose of!🐴 and btw, dont do the campaing, its just some short little thing compared to the actual game, you just have to make a new game, you dont have infinite money just immediately, you can choose it in the mod menu!
Oh my god, you're literally playing my FAVOURITE transport game!
Looking forward to this!!! Can I hope for a semi-long series?
And it doesnt even have greedy dlcs !!! Just pure game joy
I’m so happy to see you playing this game. It’s one of my current obsessions, I found it before CS2 came out and while I’ve liked your videos on that game I couldn’t get into it for reasons. Please keep making these and playing this game, I will watch them all!
Im also loving these videos! Try watching colonel failure, its the channel that got me into the game a year ago!
This game is so good! I always struggle to move into the more modern years! A playthrough, unmodded, series would be great to watch! Thanks 😊
Just got the deluxe on sale for $10, going to try it out now
tpf2 is one of my discoveries of 2023 for sure! the community on youtube is super chill, the mods are near endless (if maybe sometimes a bit chaotic) and there's just so much to get into you don't even see upon the first look! i'm looking forward to see some more content by cpp on tpf2, it just feels like the perfect combo :)
16:58 I am fascinated how the green/blue/yellow color scheme for RCI, dating all the way back to SimCity, persists in totally unrelated games!
Sam Hawkens is the comedic Charakter Winnetou and Old Shatterhand story by Karl May!!!
A genre with a lot of potential. The game is decent but lacks a lot of basic game mechanics like lane changing or overtaking on multiple lanes to name a few.
Hello, if I may. I need help about the Bus Simulator game about the display board/LED board settings.
At the beginning of the game, I remembered correctly about the settings that you can change the LED Board display into *Next Stop* which means, it'll show you every next bus stop. But, I don't know why now the setting is gone and the only settings that exist are *Last Stop* which only shows the Last Bus Stop and others.
Could you please help me?
Sorry for the OOT btw😢
I actually really dig watching you play this game - but I’d definitely be even more excited to see your own playthrough rather than the challenges.
15:48 It's 1865 but stations already have electric streetlights and megaphones. 😁
I was making a city in Transport Fever 2 when this uploaded, strange
If $17.99 is too much. The original Transport Fever released in 2016 is currently 85% off at $4.49.
For what you're getting $20 is more than a fair price.
There's no missing pieces to this game. There's no need to buy XYZ DLC to get the best experience.
Transport Fever 1 is more or less the same game, but it's not as pretty and has fewer options. It's a good game too if you're on a budget, but you won't be disappointed if you save up for the sequel.
TF2 has potential to entertain you for days and days. I currently have a few hundred hours in it. Alternatively you could buy a new AAA game like Assassin's Creed or Ratchet and Clank for almsot $100 and not even half the amount of gameplay time.
There's little if anything on the market that competes with TF2 and I definitely don't think you could get a better game in this genre for less.
Another option for players on a budget is OpenTTD, the open source port of Transport Tycoon Deluxe. It's a 2D game with pixel graphics, but there's free mods to make it look more modern if thats what you like. There's mods for almost every vehicle you can imagine as well as custom industries, maps, graphics and more. The best bit? It's totally free and always will be!
It's also got multiplayer!
This is the game that made me realize it was time to build a new pc. I use a few mods like realistic city and auto signaling for rr. With the pickup places it’s better to build them parallel to the road so you can have dedicated entrances and exits. This prevents backups.
So happy to see you playing this. Love this series, I appreciate how much effort they put in the campaign. Even Transport Fever 1's campaign is worth experiencing too one day. Free play is fun but I definitely enjoyed the world tour campaign through the years of transport history.
It is a nice game, I really like it, but even with voice narration, the campaign is less interesting a free game with experimental map sizes (bigger) can be more interesting with "your own story".
Check the pinned comment. Good feedback!
You got to do a series for this.
one of my favourite youtubers playing one of my favourite games :) let's go!
Would love to see more of this. Watching this convinced me to buy the game.
I love how deep this game is. Looking forward to seeing you play it!
Love this! I hope to see more of this on the channel!!! Some sandbox mode once you know the in's and out's as well
This game seems very interesting, never heard of it before!
Love this game and would love to see you play it more, especially the free play.
