There are small de-humidifiers you can buy.
Have you all ever considered getting a portable dehumidifier for your van? It may help with some of your issues with electronics and just make it more comfortable.
No chunks in jam. Chunks are in preserves. Two different things. We used to make freezer jam.
In NZ we call sour bread rewena (Maori word). The beginning of it we call a 'bug' and use the juice of the potatoe to begin the bug.

Try using chia seeds in with your mashed berries, it will kind of thicken it up. Plus instead of sugar you can use natural honey or maple syrup. Also its good on homemade biscuits. Yummy!
I agree with Trent the chunks are not cool. I even use a tool to take down my salsa so its not chunky.

I'm new to your channel. I found you through LEAWs video on Costa Rica. I'm impressed with your video/editing and enjoy your personalities. Definitely subscribed! ...now I have to go watch older episodes so I don't ask stupid questions. We live in a truck camper, for 3 years now, and it's been amazing. I left the Florida humidity to explore dryer cooler places, I've been dripping my whole life...lol. I prefer smooooth jelly, btw...
So - two jars - make jam like Allie likes and pour half of it one jar. Continue mashing the remainder until it gets the way Trent likes it, and pourcthat in second jar.

2Cups fruit, scant sweetener (agave maybe or raw sugar) 2T chia seed. Bring to boil. voila

try some battered bananas.some flour and an egg and some water to make batter...slice babanas in half length ways and dip into the batter making sure to cover the whole banana and then fry in hot oil for a few minutes until golden brown..a wok or shallow frying pan is good..you cannot mess this one up..and they are heavenly..especially with some cream cheese..heaven..or sryup and chocolate.
"Strawberry carcasses"....that is the most accurate and perfect term! Love it!! From now on, I will adapt that phrase to all chunks/floatie things that do not belong!
I feel you Trent - I want more of a pureed strawberry - no chunks. And for other comments I see - that is not "jelly" (necessarily) - it's pureed strawberry. 💞 I would NOT be able to deal with that humidity!! So I will happy "visit Costa Rica" vicariously - through you two! 😆

Jam, by definition, has chunks of fruit in it. No chunks is called jelly.
@Vivian Mahoney Thank you. Pureed strawberry - is not jelly! It simply doesn't have chunks in it. All the "meat" of the strawberry is consistently mashed down to a spread with no chunks - or a jam.

Really - I worked in the food industry too - for Ghirardelli chocolate ( a loooong time ago) and for a very large cereal company - among other companies, including a couple pasta companies. Interesting to hear a tiny bit about the manufacturing process - and the liquor license - I never would have guessed!

Trent, not to correct you but to instead inform. Jam and jelly are names for the products in the jar. Jam is supposed to have chunks of the fruit it is made from. Jelly is supposed to have no chunks. You want jelly, not jam.

Loved seeing the wide assortment of fruits in the market. Have you had a chance to see the fruit which produces the cashew nut? The nut is on the outside of the fruit! The fruit is edible but I don't remember developing a fondness for it....OH...but the pineapples in Costa Rica are the best! Hope you get to see some of the mysterious ancient stone orbs before you leave CR.

Trent smooth for me as well. Sometimes I like jam sometimes I like jelly it depends.Then there is the preserves, which is a whole Nother animal but certainly smooth peanut butter. I once had a wife who like chunky peanut butter and I went with chunky for a couple years then I ended up buying my own jar of smooth. People are funny aren’t they.

Jelly isn’t jam with no chunks. Jelly is fruit juice made gelatinous. Much prefer my jam with fruit pieces.
