I backup between two NAS's within my LAN PLUS I backup between two Synology NAS's, one is in my LAN and another in my brothers location out of state. They work fantastically well.
All i need is here . Thanks !!!
Now, how to make to backup to another NAS at remote location?
2 NAS'es in one LAN? What if 2nd NAS is remote? VPN connection, ports to open on firewall? Or Synology will be the agent in between for authenication?
This is what make sense, backup in sites. I think that tailscale vpn could be used
This is for local network backup. For more complex over internet back up you may have to look elsewhere…
My Hyper Backup can't find Hyper Backup Vault on the second NAS even though both devices are on the same network.
Tried. The first nas kept asking for a log in to number 2. The shared folder on nas 2 could not be chosen. Kept asking for the login.
No directory could be added to "backup" too
Same problem here! Any updates on this?
Excellent tutorial.
'the permissions are going to be the permissions that it needs to log into it'... I'm lost at this bit. can anyone explain how to set the permissions for the backup folder on the external nas?
this is all local, correct? so doesnt really address the hypothetical example of your home or office burning down. do you have a step by step to accomplish the same but with the target NAS being remote/offsite?
Does this work if the second nas is on a different network, since I want them very far away?
Is NDMp backup possible on synology nas shared folders ?
Helo bro, I have question. How can you back up with a different domain or ip address? And for the synology of the first nas and the second nas, are the accounts different or the same. Please answer my question. thank you❤
This is possible but you need to ensure that there are sufficient routes between subnet, and domain trusts in place to do this. Not a simple process, but it does work.
Doing God's work here. Going to need this one day
