PYREX is the original that can go from freezer to oven without a problem, whereas pyrex is only tempered glass and will break due to temperature extremes.

Never knew the difference till early 2023. I am 75 and have never have had a problem, I am going to be very observant of pyrex and Pyrex when using just to mix, love their glass measuring cups to melting butter to breaking eggs and mixing them up. Those tumblers are the best I’ve ever had! Keeps ice for forever. And I like that the handle is a hook, so I can hook it onto my cart or something. And it barely even spills when it’s sideways.

Perhaps that’s true of what they make today but I have multiple sets of pyrex rectangular and pyrex round glass containers like these that are probably twenty some years old and I regularly microwave food in them for 10 minutes or so on high and have never had a problem. I have a few that are 4 years old and they do fine cooking in the microwave. I’ve never put my glass pyrex in the freezer or regular oven, I have other dishes I use for that. But “they don’t make things like they use to” so perhaps new ones aren’t as sturdy.

I beg to differ. I recently purchased a set of lower case pyrex bowls from Sam's as a set. According to their instructions, they are microwave safe, as well as preheated oven safe. They say do not use with a direct heat source (such as a stovetop or broiler).
Bought the prime rib sliders. They are great for those of us senior citizens who don't need the larger hamburgers. I rewrap each covering them with lightly waxed dry kitchen sheets cut into smaller sizes (also available from Sam's) . Place each wrapped burger in a plastic bag and freeze. When I want a burger, I remove from the bag and thaw or defrost using the microwave before cooking in a pan or using in other downsized dishes. Sometimes I beak one apart in a pan, cook until done, add egg whites, seasoning, and a little cheese for beefy-cheesy scrambled eggs.
I can't say I've ever seen any PYREX products in my 60 years.... only pyrex and I've never had any issues with them, thank God! And as for Samsung appliances, I love our washer & dryer - 7 years strong - and our fridge which we bought last year after the uber-expensive Kitchen Aid fridge gave out after less than 6 years. We have that Samsung washer & dryer set. It going on its 3rd year in our laundry room and I could not be happier. Both washer & dryer have a chime song when the cycle is finished and it's called "Laundry's done".
The HydraFlow tumblers are fantastic! We have 3 sets, and I am going to get one more before they disappear. Very well made, dishwasher safe, and I have found they will keep ice frozen from suppertime to lunch the next day. Online, they are limited in color combinations, but it doesn't matter. I definitely recommend them!

We have had a Samsung refrigerator for 10 years and are on our 3nd set of washer dryer front loads. First set made it 8 yrs this one is nearly 11 yrs. I also use mine to wash King size and queen size down comforters and quilts all year round/monthly so mine take a lot more wear and tear than most. I think Samsung is AWESOME and will buy again. We also have 4 Samsung tv's, Samsung cell phones and tablets. No problems with any ever.
Said this as a comment but it deserves it's own post. Pyrex changed branding after they switched from borosilicate glass to soda lime glass. This happened 40+ years ago. Soda lime glass has more issues with thermal shock than borosilicate glass does, but they BOTH break down from thermal shock. Borosilicate gets tiny fractures that slowly grow over time and eventually cause failure where soda lime glass 'explodes' which is to say it more violently breaks suddenly from thermal shock. Very old PYREX(upper case) is borosilicate. All pyrex(lower case) is soda lime but there are PYREX that is also soda lime. If you 100% want borosilicate glass, get Corningware. All Corningware is and has always been borosilicate.
I have 2 sets of the MM glass storage containers and love them! Make sure you take the silicone rings out and wash them as well. Also, we have the Bentgo containers which work great for lunches.

My child had to go to the hospital for stitches from a pyrex bowl that shattered when he took out of the nesting bowl . Threw all the Pyrex in the trash and now use another brand. I also had Pyrex measuring 8 cup explode after putting down on the counter
I recommend the Members Mark glass storage containers. I bought them a few years ago and they are great. They are thick glass and they nest nicely to take up less space.

That work bench is great! It’s well made and too nice for a work bench! Legs are powder coated and adjustable. Top is nicely finished and thick solid wood. I use it for a T V STAND

The lower case pyrex can go in the microwave or oven BUT, they cannot handle the quick fluxuation in temperature from cold to hot. Thats what can make it shatter. But a room temperature pyrex is usually fine.

I paid $250 (on sale) for the "Seville Classics UltraHD Height Adjustable Heavy Duty Workbench With Solid Wood Top, 72"". For $200 its a steal for a computer desk. It's the perfect height but if you find it too high you can remove the feet and lower it another 1.5 inches or so. It's rock solid and heavy. I will say my top and others have reported small defects. Nothing too bad. I upgraded from the IKEA Galant desk.
0:16 I bought a few of these black bins with the yellow lids last year (thinking they were the same dimensions as the ones I bought at Home Depot) - They were NOT! They did not stack. I'm not sure of the exact measurements of the ones Sams sells now vs the ones Home Depot sells now but be forewarned, measure first! They look exactly the same, but do not measure the same!
I don't understand people arguing about the pyrex set. I mean I *understand* what they're saying in the comments, but I bought a set just like the one featured in the video a couple years ago. I'll make large meals in the 9x13 dish (in the oven), pack up leftovers in the other dishes, throw them in the fridge or freezer, and then microwave those. Or, better yet, just use the plastic lid that fits the 9x13 dish and put that in the fridge if there's room. Literally none of them have broken except the one I dropped.
They changed the manufacturing process about 20 years ago. Newer pyrex is very prone to exploding when it experiences extreme temperature changes. Usually from hot to cold, like oven to granite countertop. I have never had an issue, either.
@@staceyn2541 I've heard a lot about that and yet never experienced it. That's what I was getting at. Granted, I let things cool off about 20 minutes before putting them in the fridge or freezer, but still. I will absolutely microwave food straight from the fridge or freezer. No problems ever.
Mine exploded 20 seconds after I placed on oven top when I started to stir the contents in the dish. Went everywhere including the rice and chicken and cut my feet when I lept back to try and not get burned. It was quite exciting indeed.

The whole Pyrex thing is not about using Title Case letters - its that when the company was Pyrex, the glass was made with the same glass as used in science labs (think beakers). When the company was sold, the glass was then made of borosilicate, which is a breakable glass that's not used for beakers, etc. that get heated. In some countries, Pyrex is sold (like France), so if you use lower case pyrex for storage, you're ok. If you heat food in Pyrex, make sure it has a capitol P. Love you, bye bye
The letter case is how you tell which pyrex you have. I have pyrex that says it is microwave safe, but not oven safe. My PYREX is both oven and microwave safe.
I was unaware there were 2 types of Pyrex. Glad I saw this. I have been thinking about replacing much of my plastic ware with Pyrex containers just so I can reheat in the oven or airfryer. Now I know what to look for.

My mouth dropped when I saw those Hydroflow tumblers. I need 40 oz tumbler with handle. I just looked it up at my nearby SAm's and they don't have them in. The only choices to order online are black. I guess I could always bling it up lol. Thanks for sharing!
I find that when we check online for stock, it isn’t not accurate. I was looking at 2 different clubs for a down jacket for my daughter and both clubs said they didn’t have it and both of them actually did.
The comments regarding pyrex is correct. The difference is borasilic glass. Think beakers and test tubes in a lab. They're designed to take high quantities Of heat. What they're doing is they're using just plain silica. That cannot take the temperature range let alone the thermal shock that boracylic glass can. You're paying for the name but not getting the quality. Don't do it if you want to use it in the oven.
As Frazier Crane would say, "Oh, Dear, God" with that personal EKG. The calls were overwhelming when those smart phones started with the EKG thing. This is just going to be coo coo for cocoa puffs.
I also noticed that it had a monitoring plan that was free for 6 months. So, a barely mentioned subscription plan is needed for use. So tired of this nonsense

I have to drive 35 minutes down a mountain to get to my Sam's Club. I need to make sure they have his size BEFORE I do that. Thanks for the consideration.
You definitely got lucky with your Samsung appliances. Every one of mine had issues and have all been replaced with maytag or whirlpool over the course of 5 years. Never going back to Samsung for appliances. They need to stick to phones.
Same here. I had a Samsung smart washer, even though I carefully loaded evenly, almost every load would get unbalanced and stop. I fought with it for months and finally bought a generic agitator washer to replace it.
My significant has a NOCO jump pack and it is worth every penny. He has been able to run an electric vehicle off the jump pack. It should also have enough power to jump large diesel engines.

Yes we bought the storage tote. Used it for Christmas wrapping paper,bows, stockings and ornaments. All safe and tucked away for next year. ✨

Lower case is not the name brand and shatter easier especially when using in the oven. All Caps is the best so buy them.

I'm not sure of the exact measurements of the ones Sams sells now vs the ones Home Depot sells now but be forewarned, measure first! They look exactly the same, but do not measure the same!
I just use Pyrex for food storage (leftovers etc) and the glass measuring cup.
I don't understand people arguing about the pyrex set. I mean I *understand* what they're saying in the comments, but I bought a set just like the one featured in the video a couple years ago. I'll make large meals in the 9x13 dish (in the oven), pack up leftovers in the other dishes, throw them in the fridge or freezer, and then microwave those. Or, better yet, just use the plastic lid that fits the 9x13 dish and put that in the fridge if there's room. Literally none of them have broken except the one I dropped.
They changed the manufacturing process about 20 years ago. Newer pyrex is very prone to exploding when it experiences extreme temperature changes. Usually from hot to cold, like oven to granite countertop. I have never had an issue, either.
@@staceyn2541 I've heard a lot about that and yet never experienced it. That's what I was getting at. Granted, I let things cool off about 20 minutes before putting them in the fridge or freezer, but still. I will absolutely microwave food straight from the fridge or freezer. No problems ever.
Mine exploded 20 seconds after I placed on oven top when I started to stir the contents in the dish. Went everywhere including the rice and chicken and cut my feet when I lept back to try and not get burned. It was quite exciting indeed.

We have a high end Samsung washer, dryer & refrigerator. In 5 years of use we haven't had a single problem.

The whole Pyrex thing is not about using Title Case letters - its that when the company was Pyrex, the glass was made with the same glass as used in science labs (think beakers). When the company was sold, the glass was then made of borosilicate, which is a breakable glass that's not used for beakers, etc. that get heated. In some countries, Pyrex is sold (like France), so if you use lower case pyrex for storage, you're ok. If you heat food in Pyrex, make sure it has a capitol P. Love you, bye bye

The letter case is how you tell which pyrex you have. I have pyrex that says it is microwave safe, but not oven safe. My PYREX is both oven and microwave safe.
I was unaware there were 2 types of Pyrex. Glad I saw this. I have been thinking about replacing much of my plastic ware with Pyrex containers just so I can reheat in the oven or airfryer. Now I know what to look for.
Just use Anchor instead then you don't have to think about it
All lower case is soda-lime glass. Beakers and old PYREX were borosilicate glass.

My mouth dropped when I saw those Hydroflow tumblers. I need 40 oz tumbler with handle. I just looked it up at my nearby SAm's and they don't have them in. The only choices to order online are black. I guess I could always bling it up lol. Thanks for sharing!
I find that when we check online for stock, it isn’t not accurate. I was looking at 2 different clubs for a down jacket for my daughter and both clubs said they didn’t have it and both of them actually did.

The comments regarding pyrex is correct. The difference is borasilic glass. Think beakers and test tubes in a lab. They're designed to take high quantities Of heat. What they're doing is they're using just plain silica. That cannot take the temperature range let alone the thermal shock that boracylic glass can.
You're paying for the name but not getting the quality. Don't do it if you want to use it in the oven.

You definitely got lucky with your Samsung appliances. Every one of mine had issues and have all been replaced with maytag or whirlpool over the course of 5 years. Never going back to Samsung for appliances. They need to stick to phones.
Same here. I had a Samsung smart washer, even though I carefully loaded evenly, almost every load would get unbalanced and stop. I fought with it for months and finally bought a generic agitator washer to replace it.

My significant has a NOCO jump pack and it is worth every penny. He has been able to run an electric vehicle off the jump pack. It should also have enough power to jump large diesel engines.
