21 years in, I'm not ashamed to admit that getting sober (and remaining sober) is the #1 defining moment in my life. Not marriage, not kids, not owning a successful business. NONE of these things would be good if I wasn't sober. I'm glad your music is connecting with people that need to hear it.

This song is really guiding me through some hell right now. I crave sobriety, but I haven't reached it in over 16 years. I'm only 28. I feel like life is a loop of pain, backstabbing, depression, pain.... I want to feel fresh air and my mom's love again :( I miss smiling... Not only on the outside but on the inside. I miss being happy. The pain of life destroys us but the substance abuse makes it a million times worse.

The burning house is a representation of addiction, we feel like we are trapped, and jelly chaining himself down shows that he feels like he can't escape this. Almost submitting that this is the only way he can tame his demons, I have felt this way for a long time.. I made a music video called stylez major lost in a high, about losing my best friend to an overdose on my birthday, a day after jelly put out save me, and my friend was the one who told me to listen to jelly roll, I been down since. Thank you jelly, you inspired my song lost in a high...

Loving an addict and watching them destroy themselves and everything around them and our relationship is devastating. Because you love them so much and try so hard to stick by them hoping that their clarity will happen before they ruin themselves and your relationship completely is hard af before you have to finally give in and throw in the towel before you lose yourself! The most painful thing I’ve ever endured. Crushed my soul. I feel for anyone struggling with being and addict, recovering and also those who are there trying to stick by their sides. It is something no one can understand unless it’s been experienced. No one!

You are spot on with your statement, without going through it there is no way to describe what its like watching the love of your life destroy theirs.

You can NOT make an addict change. Your love, loyalty and endurance will not make them change. They have to want it. Im so sorry you are dealing with this. Take the time you need to heal and who knows maybe one day that clarity will emerge its head and you can have a healthy relationship. I assure you, you do not want to be with someone in active addiction. Be strong, know your worth and do not settle for less than you deserve!!!!!!! Good luck jodi!!!!

Wow! I'm a recovering alcoholic, and this song hits me hard. 4 years sober now, and I struggle with it still. It is possible to get past the pain, and change into the person you were meant to be. I literally lost everything (my wife, kids, friends, family, etc..). At the deepest darkest point of my alcoholism (my rock bottom), I was sitting on my couch with the barrel a .40 cal Glock in my mouth. I didn't know how to quit drinking. I couldn't live with it, and didn't know how to live without it. With tears streaming down my face, heart pounding, breathing hard, I took one last breath, only to look up across the room to see the pictures of my kids on the fireplace mantle. I couldn't do it. I couldn't take their father away from them. They needed me, and I needed them. It all clicked in that moment. That was March 10th, 2018, and I haven't had a drink since then. Everyone's story is different, but if I can do it, you can do it! One day at a time my friends.

My mom introduced Jelly to me in my early teens. For years she has battled her own addictions and vices. For years I thought she would break through her chains and that has yet to come. Her and I bonded over your music for years and now we don’t speak at all. Some days I wish I could heal her and have her back, but until then I just listen to Jelly in hopes my mom hears the same strength I do. Jelly has gotten me through my own pain and I know if my mom just stopped to listen she would hear she’s not alone. One day my mom and I will listen to you together again and we will bond over the fact that she got herself together is completely sober.

Every time I experience loss or major change like that I found a bottle to be the most comfortable friend. No judgment. No attitude. Just me and the bottle. I have 5 months sober now. I have a lot to look forward to. I need to stay clean. I beg anyone who struggles with addiction to get help immediately. It will take you down hard. It has no compassion for you. Find a friend or call a hotline. Whatever you need to do someone is around. Congratulations on your accomplishments of sobriety.

There are celebrate recovery meetings everywhere idk where you are but I've seen them in at least 2 states! Look! My brother! Read the Bible! Anyone who sees this actually there is hope in Jesus! I'm not no hippie preachin person I'm just a Christ follower who truly loves the chained like in this video! Used to listen to Jelly ritually his channel on pandora was all i played for a minute that was after I got sober and knew of God! But.. now that I'm a little older.. I want to walk the walk not just talk the talk! Sorry I just really want you all to know there IS A GOD WHO LOVES YOU! AND HE IS NOT RELIGION HE IS BIBLE! HALLELUJAH ❤️

@@scottharrell8825 Hey Scott. You've been through recovery. Probably been a mentor to many with your years sober. What would you tell them? Clearly you are ashamed of relapsing. That is understandable. It doesn't define your future. Are you able to go to a rehab? Reach out to sober friend? Attend meetings? You know that sobriety has to be #1 for an alcoholic or everything crumbles. I'm not an alcoholic. I'm the daughter of one. My Dad has been sober since 1993. I'm so proud of him and the person he has become. We are all a work in progress, fighting our individual battles. I'm also the GF of one, who has struggled with alcohol the past 10 years, newly sober again 6 months. Your kids need you sober. Is there someone to care for your kids? Get in rehab. Do what you have to do to get you sober and well. My BF has been in rehab 3x in 2 years and stayed in a long term facility for 1 year. You don't need to be ashamed. You just need to get better.

From someone who battled against Alcoholism for most of my adult life, this song hits straight home and is 100% true. If it wasn't for my Wife who was beyond patient with me and never gave up on me, I would be dead. I will be 2 years sober by the end of the year and I can tell you that if you are going through this it will get better, but only if you want it to be.

I think I finally figured out why I like Jelly's music so much. Every single song he writes, he keeps it real. Behind the walls of a recording booth, people tend to focus their music towards what the audience wants to hear. A rapper, who prolly lives a normal private life, becomes a thug and a party animal for their audience. A pop singer, who most likely struggles with self like anyone else would, becomes the perfect human being. Jelly doesn't do that. He makes his music for his own sake, knowing we can relate. It's like a father telling his son his life stories to steer him off a bad path. That level of genuineness is what makes his music hit different. Nothing ever feels artificial.
