- This was the first ride in the Hot Rod 16V-71 Detroit Diesel. It had the premiere at the STP Truck weekend in Koewacht, the Netherlands. The Hot Rod is almost ready. Only some minor things has to be done to the leather interior, and some driving to clean up the big Detroit engine from al the stationary operating hours at the build up.

That has got to be the coolest hot rod I've ever seen! Nothing but power!
Always happy to see wretched excess carried to new levels especially when we're talking road machines, too much is never nearly enough!
Excess??? THEY PUT A FUCKING TRAIN ENGINE ON A MODEL A lmao.
And with the buzz of the air starter the beast comes to life
Sounded like air starter.
I really like the pneumatic starter, It adds a very unique touch to an already unique truck.
Beauitful, nice to see so many N.American iron there now, thanks for preserving them.
The is just something sexy about a car with way too much engine! May you see many safe miles/kilometers ahead!
The streets are laid out kinda weird but that place is clean. No trash about. I like that a lot.
Bring it to the States. There are MANY places you can take the "Sweet16" and open it up !
Now thats about a Mad Max lookin machine there.
i'm liking that white Dodge next to it too.
His name is the flying Baker!
what a nice truck, I seen a guy standing outside of his truck gasing with his hand like that years ago and he bumped the shifter or it vibrated into gear and it ran into 6 cars and a house before it stopped, what a mess, I was 12 that was 40 years ago, I will never forget the way people scattered, and the way that the man who owned the truck cryed like a baby because he had no insurance for his toy
Air starters...had a sound that would make you freeze or fill your pants. Radical engine...one worth saving...and not too many out there that I’m aware of, or am I wrong? Good job on the ride. Porter Dude of Ohio.
OMG….my girlfriend better watch out because that truck is so beautiful, I might cheat on her. 2 stroke DD's are the best sounding engines ever made. That mid 70's dodge next to it is hawt too..... hhahha Thanks for sharing!
The noise and the oil dribbles out of the air box drains get old after a short while. Cool to hear one going by, a whole different thing to live with one 8+ hours a day 5 or 6 days a week
Awesome job . You're right about the engine . It needs a good load to clean that up smoke at throttle-up . Maybe you can build a matching travel trailer :)
Boy, that will wake the neighbors at 4:30 in the morning. Plus it's way cool too. That bulge rib that goes from the firewall back needs to be chromed. Really an outstanding build. Happy motoring all day.
I swear to god you can make anything road-legal in the Netherlands
Bring that thing to America and watch all the Prius's go fleeing in terror!
OK...THAT is just Badass!
air start beautiful
Gorgeous beast! The starter motor takes me back to my days as a practicing mechanic working my Pneumatic Snap on Rattle gun/hammer.... Lol that sound! And fuck me look at the size of that diff casing!
This is cool, it's like the Jay Leno Tank Car.
I want to know exactly how you built this! Please tell me you have a build video!
Do you have twin Allisons in there? Was wondering about the unique shifter. I noticed the engines look offset? Is true? 2 x 8v71? 700 combined hp?
Looks like it would be something Jay Leno would drive or at least have in his Room of Giants
Who the frick would dis this vid? Sixteen people who need to lose 50lbs and get the hell outta mom's basement... If you're not into machinery, then don't watch! Sheesh! Radical rod, with awesome sound, very incredible beast! Me LIKE!
@thedog556 I smell a hippie, that thing is cool as fuck!
@thedog556 yea I see these things everywhere. Such a headache...
The periods imply sarcasm in case you didn't get it
Fantastic! This Rig puts you in elite company.
Have you had a chance to pull it up on a scale yet? My guess is 5450 kg.
woww that's amazing
Boy, Piss'd Off Pete gave some folks some inspiration...
low gear? close ratios?
I love the sound and mechanical complexity and this is a beautiful build. It's turbo supercharged? I wonder if in an electric future someone will build a truck based on a Volvo D13-1000 and people will be shocked at the noise.
Two cycle diesel requires force induction.
Need to tighten up that buffer screw just a bit. Super cool build!
Nice toy!👍🏽😍❤️
I’d love to build something like this, maybe take apart the ol’ 71 Volvo p-1800E and swap the B-20 for the Penta D350 and add the Banks power pack, Fuel Injection Performance Kit, have the engine built like a muscle cars engine plus the copper gasket kit, twin turbo charged, etc., then a company called IPD makes hi performance parts for Volvo’s, so I can go to them for computer chip upgrades, wheels, suspension upgrades, anti-sway bars, traction bars, K & N intake, just all kinds of cool stuff to make that Volvo anything but Your families safe lil’ station-wagon. 👍🏽😈
Yes, Volvo’s can burn rubber.
Nice to know some Euro gearheads exist see the smile on his face
See in America though, this would be blowing black smoke all over the place. I like it like this, nice and clean
Gunner The Shepherd that's the way it should be too.
Loud and brash
Dano Kerr exactly
Gunner The Shepherd but the black smoke has to be there simple prius scaring device
Now THAT is a hot rod!
What Transmission does the Hot Rod have?
hahah seeing mud fly past the window at 10:58 is priceless
Is 2 V-8 diesels put together too much to ask for. Geez
This is a MANLY AUTOMOBILE
Ik vond hem mooier in de oude filmpjes, ik mis die "Rat Rod" look.
Maar wat een constuctie, een v-16 voor een schip op een truck chassis met als body een klassieke Citroen, brilliant.
Considering it has an Allison HT750 in it, I never hear it shift. Should run the truck on a dyno to see if it is shifting correctly.
hoeveel snelheden heeft de rat?
From behind that's the biggest pumpkin I've ever seen ( massive )
I wouldn't want to be in the bicycle lane with him on the road in the area ! Neat vehicle though !
Awesome!
Not sure if the things weighs 50,000 lbs or the trans isn’t working right or what but, it seemed like it was making a LOT of smoke and noise for what little movement you were seeing. I was hoping to see a burnout.
Doing a similar build here in the States. I'm using a 1940 KB International. And a 12V71. Your wheel tire combo is what I am after. Or real close anyway. Would you tell me the sizes and details so I will be in the ballpark? I sure would appreciate it. Awesome ride man!
+Jr Payton.... I'm "here", in the states... and I'm Not Arjan, however... I Can, steer you (no pun intended lol) in the direction you want to go. Those are just everyday "super singles"... and you can find the rims at pretty well Any heavy duty truck dealership... and / or, any semi trailer dealership, new, used, etc.
MOST of these rims are 22.5" diameter... and measure 22.5 X 12.25, and 22.5 X 14.00. Here is a couple of links for you, that might at least get you going... www.fleettruckparts.com ...and here... buytruckwheels.com/drive-rear-wheels/super-single-wheel.html This 2nd link takes you right to the "Drive Rims" page.
As for the Tires... Most All of the major commercial tire manufacturer's have them..ie: Bridgestone, Goodyear, Yokohama, Michelin, etc, etc, etc.
What are you running for a trans. behind the Buzzin Dozen ?? Which rear end and gear ratio ? Is the 12, "stock" ? Is it NA or T / TT / TA / TI / TTA / TTI or ????? What do you have the governor set at ?? If it's an NA engine... I hope you haven't added a turbo(s)?? Which injectors are you running ??
Nosy.... aren't I ? lol .... inquiring minds, want to know. : )
2Stroke Diesel Power
AWESOME! !!!!!!!
Hoeveel weegt die eigenlijk ?????
0:06 - Is 'Firt' the new word for hot-rod enthusiast?
What Country is this in? Beautiful Hot Rod!
K. R. V. The Netherlands. Beautiful looking place ain't it
Love the air start!
Very unique machine.
What kind of truck is the chassis from?
If you had a place to put a SCUBA tank, you could use one with a first stage regulator to your air system as a backup air supply for starting.
That way, you would not have to get an air jump start, you would just open the valve on the high pressure SCUBA tank and the first stage of the regulator would give you as much as 150 psi for your air starter and dozens of starts.
Wild!!!!
Soooooo VERY WELL done !
Is that a tar or a cruck? Just kidding. That thing is mean! I love it
Just needs jakes now
Almost ready? No tire smoke, no speed, no boost?
I'd want a lot more space than these narrow roads before I lay into the throttle on that thing. It's making at least 2200 lbft of torque!
At least? a 12v makes over 3000.
Jimmy Doolittle
Jimmy Doolittle..... "a 12v makes over 3000"...... What 12v makes over 3000 What ???
Jimmy Doolittle
Pft, on what planet? These things made like 1200ft/ibs stock. And that's the twin turbo one.
Where is the fuel trailer for this beast? For environmental reasons, it should be parked on a tarp to contain the expected oil leaks.
those aren't oil leaks, they're beads of "power sweat"
So epic
I would daily drive it!!! Just because I could!!!!!!
Excuse me while I go change..... daaaaaamn....
damn u could probs pull 4 boats with that thing
its a pity you have drive it on the footpath!!
how many gallons x mile?
measured in gallons x smiles
Damn! The owner didn't show us his new hearing aids!
Jay Leno is OWNED...
His foot was to the floor the whole time
I wonder how fast it will accelerate?
If Andre the Giant had had a hot rod..
¿Two strocke engine?.
yup
Thanks.
Very simple to work on
Ha! Gotta love people who have more money than they can handle,
Javan Russell
Naw. Enough money to live/build their dreams. Because they can.
Detroit diesel 16V71 two stroke engine turbo
2X 8V71 GM DIESEL engine (Detroit)
Yup even the cranks are bolted together
oh my god i want one
At least spin the tires...
I will never understand why so many guys keep their hands in their pockets.
Not a good look.
Estimated cost ????????????? Resale value ???????????????
Jealousy ??????????? Envy ?????????
Someone show him how to shift the damn thing
That's easy, just before getting in you slam your hand in the door and now your ready.
You did not yield for the motorcycles .
Pretty sure they knew he was coming
Those people need wider roads. Cool hot rod I'll have one in large metal flake orange.
this is currently for sale
Nicholas Van Scoy do you know how much it’s up for I know u commented 5 month ago but if you have the link that wud be great
Sweet, but either has clogged injectors or they are too small to meet WOT fueling needs. Ruins the great two stroke sound.
It is supposed to have 1000 hp at least. It seems quite slow
gearing, put 50,000 lbs behind it and it'll be the same speed lol
@Jimm Crowe an 8v-71 would be just as fast and a ton lighter.
@@episttebut half as cool
Not too out-due Jay Leno or anything
Those little British "motiffee's"
Why ?????????????????????????????
I was a trucker for most of my life, also a motorcycle rider. I would never have driven through a bunch of motorcycles like that. An asshole.
it.s...you know...weird to design a hybrid hot rod/big rig-thing,although quite honestly,a huge amount of design and construction talent went into its making.Just not sure why anyone...would bother
bcuz fucku thats why
If you have to ask why, then you wouldn't understand the answer.
For the Same Reason a dog licks his balls. Because he CAN, lol.
It's mechanical art, and you could ask the same question about all art.
Una reverenda porqueria
Too much smoke. Needs a rebuild.
Craig Pennington no it doesn’t runs perfectly fine it was just a cold start......
I mean why? why build a heavy slow car/hot rod/truck/novelty? Don't get me wrong here. I admire this chap for his obvious skill and craftsmanship here but it's a lamb in wolves clothing. Just my opinion.
Because it's uniquer than fuck, cooler than fuck, and more importantly:
because he can.
If it can't go fast it's useless.
Lucian Ene I didn't see anywhere on those country lanes to do more the man was doing. Get some real roads to drive an extremely heavy, no power steering hot rod and I'm sure it way faster.
it's an ugly beast, but a beast nonetheless
Waste of my 16 minutes
