    Now THAT !!.... is a HOT Rod !! I see you've got the trunk full with your air supply for the starter & service brakes(?).... How big is your fuel tank & where is it?... under the trunk? Which injectors do you have in the engine & what HP & torque specs? What is your rear end ratio? How about an "in cab" video & "take us all for a ride" in it ??
    Well done !!... Can hardly wait to see it when it's all finished.

    I'm curious how boost is controlled? I don't see any external wastegates. It seems all the exhaust pressure is going straight to the turbine.
    I'm not second guessing these guys' engineering as they have done an incredible job.

    • @bubbabigpimp
      @bubbabigpimp 9 лет назад

      You don't always have to have a wastegate on a diesel engine as long as the turbo isn't real big. I have a 7.3 power stroke and there isn't any wastegate on it stock from the factory.

      it uses all it makes, these do not have intake valves the cylinders are ported so they must be ''force fed''

    • @kleetus92
      @kleetus92 9 лет назад +1

      Diesels don't typically need a wastegate, they don't car about extra air since there is no throttle plate to worry about.

    2 8V-71 two strokes bolted together. No intake valves,all fuel and air go into the engine through the airbox, via demand feed using the governor. The cylinders are slotted from about half way to the bottom down. Piston goes down, fuel and air get sucked into the cylinder, piston goes up, and compression ignites the mixture. I can work on almost every two stroke diesel Detroit ever built. from 4-53 right to to 16V92 Silver

      I am talking truck diesels here, just to clarify

    • @rad3766
      @rad3766 9 лет назад +2

      Robert Jones Erm....not to question your DD experience, but.....fuel is injected direct into the cylinders, yes? (My DD experience is limited to 53's, 71's, 110's, 149's and their overgrown cousins from EMD, (567's, 645's and 710's) all in marine apps.

    • @bcstechnologylimited896
      @bcstechnologylimited896 8 лет назад

      +Robert Jones: Air does not "get sucked into the cylinder." Two-stroke Diesel engines are incapable of self-aspiration and rely on a blower of some type to charge the cylinders with air-some of that air also scavenges exhaust gases from the previous power stroke, Also, fuel is injected near the end of compression in all Diesels, two- or four-stroke. Fuel is not carried into the cylinders with the air charge.

    • @Myrrydyn1950
      @Myrrydyn1950 8 лет назад

      I never said that two stroke diesels were naturally aspirated. They need a blower and/or a turbo, or in the case of some Detroit's two turbos into the blower. Air gets sucked into the the bottoms of the cylinders via the blower or turbo via the air box. This is particular to Detroits as far as I am aware.

    • @bcstechnologylimited896
      @bcstechnologylimited896 8 лет назад +1

      +Robert Jones: To quote you:
      "Air gets sucked into the the bottoms of the cylinders via the blower or turbo via the air box."
      That description is fundamentally incorrect. A two-stroke engine's cylinders cannot "suck" (aspirate) air. A positive means of charging the cylinders during the abbreviated intake period is required, which is the role of the blower or turbosupercharger. The only "sucking" going on is at the inlet to the blower or turbocharger. "Sucking" in the context of an engine is technically defined as "aspiration."
      Furthermore, in the context of the Detroit Diesel and EMD 567/645/710 two-stoke series, the term "naturally aspirated" is/was used by General Motors to describe an engine fitted only with a Roots blower (two in the case of EMD engines). In this context, the combination of blower and engine proper are considered to be a unit, not separate components.
