      Looks like the semi cab, notice the split windshield. My dad had a 1970 C70 gas job back in the day that used a modified version of the pickup cab, would have been the same as this on a tractor/semi frame.

    What a great sound. During my teenage years we had a 1950 Oliver tractor with a 4-53 DD. It was the best sounding tractor ever.

    Sounds good.I have a Ford F-250 and thought about a Detroit change. The problem with current diesel pickups is reliability of the electronic sensors and components. I had to be towed 3 time in 2 months. I have 2 Detroit 671s from the late 1940s still going strong in my boat. I ran twin 6v53s in the Navy in Vietnam patrol boats. Good engine.

      Yes, I am running into the same dilemma. I want a diesel truck but I want it with mechanical fuel injectors and injector pump. I would like to have a 4-53T Detroit in a pickup or a mini semi like in this video.

      Those 44 ft MLB’s I worked on in the Coast Guard had Twin 6v53’s.

      @@Saltysailor83 I ran 6v53s on PBRs in Vietnam. And many other 2 cycle Detroits commercial fishing, etc. Very reliable, especially compared to electronic diesels we have now.

    Man! that sound of a Detroit Diesel brings back memories.. back when weekends was going with my dad on one of his delivery routes! 😆
    I can remember the smell of the combined diesel fuel in the cab and cigarette smoke! 😂

    I drove a tracked deuce-and-a-half when I was in the Army back in the 70s - with this engine, some sort of automatic transmission and two joysticks to steer with. I couldn't get enough of it.

      One thing i noticed is that all 2 strokes are a wet sump design! even a premix 2 stroke sucks in and compresses a gas oil mix and the oil pressure is made by the crank case pressure! i can keep the crankcase sump wet pretty good at 32:1 with klotz techniplate r50 in my yz-250, its a dynamic wet sump 2 stroke!

    Nice! I'm planning on a 6v53 in an 81' 1 ton dually, shortened the frame to short wheelbase with a widened and tubbed step side box. I'm looking for a good running 6v53 right now but I keep missing the deals. One sold not to far from me, missed it by a week :/

      I swear to god but 2 strokes can bend space time or the aetherr! nikola teslas impulse DC arc plams distruptor as a uni-flow 2 stroke and lightning is a 2 stroke. Nature uses the 2 stroke cycle and so can we. Now there is a nice 850 ETEC turbo and a Cummins ACE op 873 CID OP 2 stroke motor! The sun is a 2 stroke loop charged plasma and lightning is uni-flow 2 stroke plasma!

    This truck could tear the ass out of the earth if it had the traction. Hp is how fast you hit the wall. Torque is how far you move it. Beautiful truck and great work. Bless.

      How was the overhaul? I’m extremely curious on what I’m going to find when I tear mine down? I’ve been picking peoples brains on these engines as I have 0 experience with them, mine is a turbo model and it’s aluminum, military. Oh also how was parts available and price? Thanks.

    My dad had one of those engines in an old Chevy dump truck. It would run 50mph down hill loaded if you were lucky and it sounded like it was going 100mph. Neat old truck you got there.

    Ben Sinner (love that name) had a company somewhere in Washington that built deep rippers. He had a little Chevy 1-ton with a 318 stuffed into it. Would have been about 1980-82 so probably a late 70's Chevy.

    OMG!! Memories of riding in the old 1959 Seagrave K-series pump with its 6V-53. All you need is a siren and air horns!!! Was originally a V-12 gas, repowered in 1983.

      Those old Seagraves with Detroits had a sound all their own. Even with the same detroit, they sounded different from American laFrance or Salisbury rigs.

      Yes the ALF's and WLF's with 6-71's all sounded throaty while the same engines in the Seagraves all screamed and had more supercharger sound. Factory-installed 6V-53's in Seagraves were loud and screaming. Philadelphia at one time had a dozen Seagrave tillers and several ALF tillers from the late 1960's that had 6V-53's in them. All screamers.
