    I really like this comparison you did but can you redo this same comparison with both amps running thru your Mesa 412 as then I believe that would be a fair fight and sound way closer as obviously a Mesa 412 V30 cab is gonna kill the Envoys 110 blue marvel speaker but if both amps were going through that Mesa 412 i think it would be a toss up which was which and with the Envoy being a fraction of the price of the 5150 I really want to see and hear you do this comparison

      @@RichardBoling-tk4pj that's a great idea, it would settle which pre amp circuit makes the best sound. It's a good video idea for my next experiment. Thanks bro ! On this video , I just tried to show what you get for that money. In other words, does the big price jump correlates with better tone?

      @@joathescientist thank you, for the price difference the Peavey Envoy is beyond awesome and I consider them and the Bandits more along the lines of the budget friendly solid state inspired 5150's and can't wait to see them both playing thru the same cab.

      @@RichardBoling-tk4pj You're right! they're great amps! I just bought the Bandit 112 again! haha (it was my first decent amp). I will do a video Bandit against EVH as it is and through the same cabinet. It'll be fun !

      @@joathescientist thats awesome as I have had a few amps over the years and my 32 year old Peavey teal stripe Bandit made me sell all of the others as it still works like new and produced far better tones for me than any other amp i've ever owned, as the boosted JCM 800/ 5150 type tone is the sound I gravitate to and it gives me that type tone to my ears but I always wanted to know how close the Bandits actually get to a 5150 thru the same speaker cab, i really thank you for comparing them as I have wanted to see this comparison for years

      @@RichardBoling-tk4pj I believe that! I haven't played a bandit in 5 years (I got spoiled with mini heads) but since I bought this one I've been plugging directly to the amp and having a blast. The blusie tones are delightful with a touch of reverb, and the modern metal tone is beefy. ☝🏻 But I am intrigued If I will be able to make it bark in the mix and come up with a modern metal tone. 🤔 So these days I will write a riff and try to challenge myself with that.

    Hi! Is the peavey loud enough to play with a band?

    • @joathescientist
      @joathescientist  Год назад +2

      Hi there! if you are playing death metal I would say no, because drums in that style can easily overpower it. But If you are playing nothing extreme the answer is yes.

      For Death metal just upgrade to The Bandit!!!

      @@franoill I would say no it isn't loud enough to play gigs or battle a heavy handed drummer but if you buy the Combo Extension Box for $30 as shown by Eric Merrow on his channel called Combo Extension Box you can then hook your tiny Peavey Rage into a 212 or 412 cab and have way more volume and girth and should have no problem playing loud gigs with a loud drummer with it, but you will need to buy the $30 box and a big cab like a 210, 410, 112, 212 or 412 to get that big volume you need but that is the way to be loud enough with a Peavey Rage and the Combo Extension Box is easy as you can get to wire in as do not have to take your amp apart and wire a speaker out jack as it simply plugs onto your amps speaker and you speaker wire plug back into it and it automatically shuts your 8 inch speaker off when a cab is plugged in essentially making your Rage an Amp Head when plugged into a cab and resumes the combo amp status with letting your Rage's 8 inch speaker work as normal when the cabinet is unplugged from the box, as it is the best invention for any combo amp ever made i feel and all you have to do is take your speaker wires off your speaker and attach the positive to the positive on the box and negative to negative then take the wires from the box and hook to your speaker positive to positive- it all is snap on connectors so you dont need to solder anything and within 2 minutes can hook your amp to your first cab as after you install it the first timeyou never remove it and can plug any cab into it with seconds althoigh I would only use 8 or 16 ohm cabinets and not any 4 ohm cabinets as you want the ohm resistance of your cab to be equal to or higher than your amps resistance never less than as that could burn up your transformer but luckily most cabs are usually 8 ohm or 16 ohm anyway as 4 ohm cabs are pretty rare so you will most likely find only 8 ohm or 16 ohm cabs which either of those will work great for your Rage, i just looked and it looks like the newer Rage's already have an external speaker out jack built in so you won't even need the Combo Extension Box if yours already has the External speaker built in, you will just need a bigger cab to plug into and use a speaker cable not an instrument or guitar cable as the speaker carries much more power than your guitar does so it needs the proper speaker cable to handle that wattage and you will have a perfectly giggable Peavey Rage and can themn inplug the cab from the amp to play low volume bedroom practicing as normal through the 8 inch speaker like always
