- I've Never Made The Connection Between Surfing And Shaved Heads....But That's What The "Pyramids" Are Noted For. This Long Beach California Group Scored A #18 Hit On The Billboard "Hot 100" Chart In 1964 Called "Penetration". It Reminds Me A Lot Of "Pipeline" By The Chanty's From About One Year Earlier In 1963. Surfs Up Dude. Hear it on internet radio www.kvkvi.com and www.groovyradio.us
Like I said before and I will repeat it again. A record like this did more for guitar companies Fender Amps Gibson Guitars. People actually played guitar with a melodic sound. Today its so damn Loud you could fall over and smash drums on the stage and it would remain noise. Ventures Castaways Pryamids had the common sense to use melody. Miss those days. Unfortunately today it is loud loud loud and more loud.
Very similar to "Pipeline" by the Chantays, (1962),
noticed that too,in 1st 5 seconds
Very nice...they had another great one..Record Run
That also sounded like it was in Duophonic. Sounded great.
Just in time for the British Invasion.
With the exception of the Beach Boys I think most of the CA surf bands went under because of that.
Music Mike, thank you sir for providing a stereo version of this wonderful tune!!!
love that!
Canciones desconocidas pero realmente hermosas
Bill Buster just released a DES version and it sounds real
The Ventures also did this song
The Ventures live in Japan , I Guess ?
So Cool
Shadows of Vista Hermosa 1:42
Looking through your videos I'm a little surprised you haven't highlighted that cool late '60s oldie *_Medicine Man_* by The Buchannan Brothers.
I loved it as a kid and still had the 45rpm until I gave it to a friend for his 21st century Jukebox, back in '05.
I love 60's surf
Sorry but The Ventures version was better, but I know most of their songs were covers of other instrumentals surf music...
