- The XHData D-808 AM FM LW AIR Shortwave SSB portable radio is an amazing bargain. Taking it back out for a spin on the Evening Medium Wave Band. The Seven Bandwidth Choices is all we need to find distant stations. The Terk Passive Loop was handy but not needed. Clean Looks, 18650 Powered, SSB are all attributes that make this radio a Winner :)

Overall, I would watch for deals on this radio. It seems the prices have gone up. When the new Tecsuns hit the market we will watch those drop. The D-808 is a fantastic radio. Always on my bench ready to be picked up and tuned.

Love and enjoy the channel and actually referred others to your channel for your famous MW radio band scans. Awesome! I have this radio and actually prefer it to the Tecsun PL 880. It has a less muddy sound by comparison. Both pick up very well outside of that. A side note: the very first transistor radio did have a whip antenna and the radio was a MW only radio. Go figure.
Great radio for pairing with a USB solar panel for off grid. I`m getting into solar now to run my radios. Ordered a second much larger 30 watt panel today for charging my Todderbert recommended power banks and all my other batteries, which I got USB chargers for, my emergency radios, various lights, and rechargeable USB fans.

Hi Todderbert thanks for the video and for the band scan I do not have this radio but I, have watched it a lot so it is in the shopping list. But another radio that is also interesting is the new Tecsun PL-330 it seems like a very nice radio and a nice price. Take care and have nice radio weekend be safe out there.

27:27 1560 AM is KGOW from Bellaire, Texas! Asian format
28:50 1670 AM is WMGE from Dry Branch, GA mixing with WOZN the Zone.
You'll love when I tell you that I have picked up KXEL-AM here in Wenatchee, WA - 1660 miles. Just using the radio with no external antenna.
For me at night 1110 is WBT in Charlot NC.
Last time I checked I could not find a way to purchase the Digitech radio. Seems like a better option being smaller with AAs. Also prefer an amber backlight especially in a dark room. Good video.
May have to watch eBay for someone selling the AR-1780.
You passed over 820 when you were scanning the dial. I live in Cincinnati and I can pick up WBAP in Dallas without any problems. It is 50,000 watts.
I have an issue with a local Chicago station WCPT 820 that interferes most of the time.
This radio has a 3 7/8 inch ferrite antenna.
Which really is tremendous for such a small radio.

Great video ! Quick question does SSB have any use when using the AM band? I do alot of AM dx'ing and was wondering if buying a SSB radio will make an significant difference in finding stations, thnks!( i live in a rural part of western Canada and its crazy how many AM stations i pick up!)
mainly the AM Bandwidth controls will help. Radios with Synchronous Detection are great on AM, such as the Sony ICF-2010 and others.

Hi there! I have it for a day, but there is something that I do not understand, How do I delete the saved frequencies? I tried with the reset button but it did not work.
Hope your prediction about the price drop comes true -- I've been waiting to get one of these, but have been put off by the increase in price. And what can you tell us about the new Tecsun models you refer to in your description?
I don't own them yet, but the PL330 looks like fun, the 990 looks like a decked out 880...and there is the 368 with a numeric keypad..nice...though the 330 and 368 run on lower capacity BL-5Cs.
@@todderbert Those sound interesting -- so many radios now use the Nokia battery that you'd think someone would address that market with a high capacity BL-5C design. Not sure why some radio designs seem to prefer it versus a conventional AA battery.

You should review all the waves, not just focus on am.. I hope you accept my criticism.
FM is an issue with Music, Shortwave can be a hit and a miss for me...the best times are in the morning and afternoons and my best filming location is taken up by my Wife's Home Office since the Pandemic started. Hopefully in the future you will see more Shortwave Scans.

Howdy todderdert, this might be off subject. But i plan on getting a new radio and cant decide on 2 radios. Its between the eton 750 and the sangean 909x?? Not sure which cc crane radio would be in the same category? I like both eton and sangean, i would like to know which one you would choose? Love your channel.
Personally love the Sangean. The Eton 750 is interesting, but I would like it more if it were $250.

what are the biggest distance with this radio on MW tu video 73 ON3MK Mor
From my location, I could pick up Cuba 1370 miles away. Cuba transmits at a higher power. For 50kW stations, I can pick up CBK 1025 miles. There are few Mexican stations that can be received as well, over 1300 miles.
