Somebody who caused someone else permanent bodily harm should be put in prison for life, regardless if accidental.
Janae seems like a wonderful young woman who despite her terrible injuries, will still accomplish great things in life. She has a lot to offer. I wish her and her family best wishes from England.

Why is it that the parents of the kid who shot people, decided in a very recent court case going to jail for being responsible for their childs actions, yet this boy who violated his probation at least 100 times, and is guilty of committing so many other crimes, including driving without a license and breaking his house arrest conditions as he's committing other crimes like this one that almost killed this poor girl, he's responsible for the car accident that took her legs and almost killing her but his parents not charged?!? Why is it some get away with things they wouldn't get away with while other parents, like this criminal have no repercussions from their kids actions?!? There needs to be curtain laws that are broken prosecuted equally throughout the country no matter where they're broken and parents like the 2 on their way to prison for their kids actions while this boys parents are not charged for their kids derilict actions?!? Without getting political here I'm just wondering how some parents are not being treated by the law the same as other parents?? That ladies and gents, is the trend that has been so obvious yet it seems to be getting worse all over this country and it must stop because in some confused minds it's a crime to disagree with their political views, yet are so shortsighted to think the same thing they endorsed now but is something they'd be whining and screaming about when the pendulum swings the other way and it's their ignorant asses that are now being held to the same standards?!? I can go on here but I'm beginning to get a little pissed off, I'll stop for now.
My heart breaks for this family, completely innocent of the selfish actions of another. Dad and Mom and Janae so eloquent on the stand and united in their love. Will remember you in my prayers.

He decided to selfishly drive after using several substances and changed an innocent sweet girl life. She has been given a life sentence so Riley family should be glad he only gets 19 years and not life.

The jury recommended a sentence of nearly 19 years for all the counts.”
Also he had fentanyl and other drugs in system according to toxicology report. And was out on bond for upcoming burglary case. Apparently he’d violated bond previously as well…
Stop referring to driving under the influence as an Accident. It's a conscious decision you make knowing you could kill or seriously injure an innocent person.

I never saw any remorse on his face. If the laws on the books note 19 years then that’s what the judge is required to give him. Still not enough because he should serve extra time on behalf of his pos mother who rented him the car.

Although I understand the pain this young lady and her family is experiencing. If this would have happened to a black person by a white person, there would have definitely not been a sentence of nineteen. The black person would have had to deal with a double pain of not even getting this kind of Justice these white folks receive in the CJS.
