Thank you for all these uploads! He was amazing when he started doing Queen Extravaganza, and has only gotten better (I didn't know that was possible). And yeah, the smoke machine guy really loves his job! haha!
I've had real fun watching how Marc has developed as both a singer and a performer over the years that he's performed with QE. Queen's catalogue has challenged him in the best ways.
Look how his stage presence is evolving! At this rate he will BE Freddie on stage in a few years. Spectacular!

Even his stage presence has evolved quite a bit. I always thought that was the biggest thing he was lacking (and the only thing Lambert had over him).
The only thing Lambert has over Martel is that he doesn't sound like Freddie but can confidently perform Queen songs in his own style. Both are brilliant singers.
EllianaR it doesn’t really matter much what one has over the other. They are both being themselves. Marc was in a band called Downhere for 11 years. Lambert got recruited to sing some gigs with Queen from his American idol performances. One thing to remember is there are a lot of Queen tribute bands but it’s easy to tell the difference. Marc Martel has a voice that naturally sounds like Freddie, but other tribute bands don’t have that kind of thing. If you look at John Blunt, his Freddie voice is not natural, neither is Gary Mullen.

I think Marc has always had a good stage presence. I think he did have a degree of shyness I noticed over the years, and at the beginning when he was a bit out of his element, that probably came to the forefront a bit more. Now that he is more comfortable in the role, his natural stage presence is coming out easier.
His stage performance is naturally energic just like Freddie... He is not acting... Queen, you can make (again) more money this time with this guy...

Well, I think Lambert technically is the better singer(his range, control etc is better) but I think we all just like Martel’s voice more, and for good reason!

I donated to Marc's recent Kickstarter campaign for him to do a cover song of my choice. I narrowed my choices down to Princes of the Universe, Who Wants to Live Forever and A Winter's Tale. (I'm a big Highlander fan.) After this concert, the band had a meet & greet in the theater lobby and I got to discuss my choices with Marc briefly and I decided on Who Wants To Live Forever, which Marc said will be beautiful to do. :-)

These sound better than current Queen, generally, I'm not saying individually the guitarist sounds better than Brian cos that's just silly lol but the over all sound, due to marc's voice, Brian and Roger should do a tour with this guy to test the water

Actually I don’t think Marc sounds so much like Freddie. I also don’t think that he could do Freddie’s 1984 - 1991 voice, which sounds very different compared to 70’s. But in this one, he really nailed it.

Excellent job! However, his timbre is slightly more George Michael here. Doing everything right, no fault to him, nothing u can do about your instrument sounding slightly higher. Also he is singing safely & more correctly than Freddie did, but he’s smart to do that.
Yeah this song is in the period where Freddie’s voice changed and got a much richer, stronger tone. The change of tone basically aligns with the mustache. Marc’s voice is really more 70’s Freddie but it still works great here. Better than anybody else. It’s actually interesting to me to hear 70’s Freddie singing 80’s Queen songs. As far as singing “safely” that’s because the monitoring systems today like the in ear monitors (you can see Marc is using those) are much better than what Freddie had in his time. Marc can probably hear himself a lot better than Freddie could and didn’t have to strain as much as Freddie did just to be able to hear his own voice in his head. The wall of sound behind Freddie from the massive stacks of amps and speakers and then the 100’s of thousands of people in front of him must have been overwhelming and other worldly. I wouldn’t be surprised if Freddie had some serious hearing loss. There’s a pretty big difference in how Freddie sang in the studio compared to how he sang live. It’s all about how he was able to perceive his own voice.
