- Sorry for the camera shakiness. This was my first recording of the night and I was trying to figure out how much zoom I needed and how to film around an audience head blocking part of my view.
Ultimate Queen Celebration with Marc Martel (vocals), Tristan Avakian (guitar), Brandon Ethridge (keyboards), Mike Cohen (bass guitar), Jason Gianni (drums) and a really enthusiastic guy working the smoke machine.
Recorded at Le Capitole (Quebec City, Sept 16, 2017)

This song is so emotional
I clicked on this...and got a total shock. Because i couldn't believe it was not Freddie singing. I stared at the video...and still couldn't believe. It's not only about the sound of it, not about exactly the same voice sound. It's the interpretation, the soul of the song, the deep understanding of it. Thank You, Mr. Martel, for this amazing experience!
UQC and Martel need to take a year and tour the world. The demand is there. In fact, in some places like Brazil, Martel is more famous than he is in his home country of Canada. Queen has tried to keep him hidden, but he is really the spirit of Freddie kept alive for a new generation.
BTW Martel just played to a crowd of 16,000 plus yesterday in Canada.

Marc has toured the world with QuEx, Queen's offical tribute band (hundreds of concerts) thanks to May and Taylor, Queen have shared the videos of QuEx on their official channel, they have releised a live concert CD of QuEx, they have even promoted Marc's solo work by sharing his own videos on Queen's Fb page.

People who are calling for Marc to tour with Bri & Rog are feeling only with their hearts, and not thinking with their brains. No doubt, Marc sounds amazing but from Bri and Roger's perspective, it would almost be an insult to Freddie to hire such an imitator. There is only ONE Freddie Mercury. He's not some product that can be copied; he's a human being, and that's why Bri & Roger would not want to hire Marc. What Brian and Roger need is a light tenor voice that can actually sing( not Adam Lambert ) with emotion and power. Marc does this but he's too much like Freddie, and that's the main reason they are not hiring him.

I've been a Queen fan since I was a kid and I simply cannot pay a ticket to watch them with Adam Lambert. But if they performed with Martel I would seriously consider it. He's very good, and I actually don't think he sounds like Freddie at all. He has his own sound and it's totally unique.

@@marilon I've watched Queen with Lambert lots of times and I just find his voice to be shrill and abrasive. and his stage presence is cringy in a bad-nightclubby sorta way. It's okay for a few minutes but not for 2+ hours. He's a nice guy (I met him once in L.A.) but it's just not for me. I'd really like to see Queen tour with a variety of singers taking turns on lead vocals and special guests, similar to the Bowie Celebration Tours.
@@RyanInLA Not many singers can sing the fulll Queen catalogue, so that might be a bit of a challenge. I don't always like what Lambert chooses to do with his voice, but his voice control is amazing. And he certainly doesn't always sound shrill. As for his stage presence, he's become much more confident. I got a bit bored with Mercury's 'fist in the air' performance style.
But in the end its a matter of personal preference.
@@marilon I think Lambert is at his best when he uses his mid-range/baritone (Mercury was a baritone as well). I heard Lambert cover "Save Me" and it sounded good. I agree that very few singers can jump genres as Mercury could; exactly why a tour with a variety of "Special Guests" would be ideal.

In pochi capiranno l'italiano. In pochi capiranno ciò che ho scritto. Ma vorrei comunque far notare il fatto che il cantante in questione non è una semplice copia di Freddie. Certo, i due timbri si assomigliano in modo incredibile, e la prima cosa che colpisce è proprio questo. Ma non si potrà mai avere la stessa interpretazione e il controllo vocale che aveva Freddie.
Dico tutto ciò per dire che per quanto i due personaggi siano simili, non sono uno la copia dell'altro. Sono due artisti distinti, e per quanto sia diventato famoso per questo motivo, trovo che Marc non debba essere ridotto a una semplice imitazione.

Guarda quello che dici non è sbagliato... ma io penso che Marc abbia una voce troppo simile a quella di Freddie per poter fare qualcosa di suo! Ha avuto la "sfortuna" che Freddie è nato prima di lui e Dio ha dato a lui (Marc) il dono di avere la voce uguale a quella di Freddie! Penso lui abbia fatto qualcosa di suo (intendo canzoni) anche per me musicalmente parlando è preparatissimo ma risalta di più quando fa le canzone di Freddie perche nel mondo non so quante persone ci sono che sanno imitarlo come lui!
