@@matthewrice3432 Here's a quick copy / paste definition for you : It means that what you have said or done, or what has been said about you, is available for public notice and has come to the attention of the person now speaking to you. This can be good, or it can be bad. And it means that the person now speaking to you has already formed an impression of you before you even met.
I mean yeah, the checks and everything were instated immediately. And with the whole world being hit by inflation and now 2 major conflicts no one except the Brits think about it anymore. Especially since it's like a decade ago now
I wouldn't limit it to inter governmental relations. You need to think broader in those cases...any amount of critical thinking must have told them that was not a bright idea. But alas...
It never ceases to amaze me how little the pro-EU faction know about how the EU actually operates. Some actually believe it to be democratic. Actually, they do have a point, the EU is democratic, only in the sense that the German Democratic Republic was democratic. No lesser person than Mikhail Gorbachev observed that.
@@sauermaischeyahoo7834 The EU is quite democratic though: the European Parliament is composed of MEPs who are directly elected by the EU citizens. Every five years elections are held in which EU citizens are able to elect MEPs to represent their views in the EU. A system of proportional representation is used to elect MEPs in all member states. As of the 2014 European Parliament elections the major political groups now nominate a lead candidate, or "Spitzenkandidat", for the President of the European Commission, who is then approved by the Parliament. Is it perfect? No. Democratic? Yes it is. At least (if not more) as democratic as a certain country still using the archaic FPTP system: the only European country that also still uses this system is Belarus and that should tell you something. The fact that there are 800+ unelected MEP's in the House of Lords (with most members life peers at that) doesn't scream 'democracy!' either. Britons (assuming you're one) lecturing others on democracy is always funny to me. Something about living in glass houses and throwing stones.
The USSR's Supreme Soviet was elected, but no one would suggest that the USSR was democratic... (perhaps you would?). The elected assembly has to wield power for the system it's part of to be democratic. The EU "parliament" doesn't wield power, so the EU is not democratic. Heck, even Mikhail Gorbachev likened the EU system to that of the USSR (and he ought to have known). The UK system has a unfortunate non-democratic element, which is why we in the UK can recognise undemocratic structures when we see them. That's how we can see that the EU is even less democratic than is the UK.
Who knows where the danger lies? The public was told that the prospect of EU armed forces was "a dangerous fantasy". Today, the EU is establishing its own military. The public was told that the UK would have a veto over any policy which its ruling clique didn't want. Today, the EU is in the process of removing national vetos. Those who wish the UK to be part of the EU are the sort of people who'd put their head into a guillotine on the promise that the blade would never be released.
So Brexit never happened. Perhaps I didn't lose my freedom of movement. As for the right Brexit, was that the one where I kept my freedom of movement? We were better inside the EU tent pissing out than outside pissing in. Uncle Michael, I am surprised you keep going. I would despair.

If the UK had a democratic voting system, then the `less informed` would play a very small part in forming the UK parliament. But however, as things are today today; the `less informed` have too much influence in general-elections.
I'm a Brit living in Austria. Brexit hasn't affected me at all. So! To me the EU isn't perfect it's dealing with 27 countries with different ways of life and therefore it can't be perfect for all. But the only way to change something is not to walk away but to stay and work at changing what you disagree with. The other item I often hear is about rejoining the EU but the EU has 27 countries in it with 3 more waiting to join. So will they want the UK back? 🤔
Even if the EU member states wanted the UK to join (there is no such thing as rejoining, we would have to apply as a new member) we would be very much at the back of the queue.
Funny how people ignore that in the EU, the UK was one of the only countries with so many exceptions accorded to them. They had more power on their own future in the EU than outside.
For the 'Brexit never happened' fraction, i would like to repeat a short story i used during the referendum period... A department in a big company has had a vote if they were to have the next christmas party in the office (as in the last year) or go out for a meal in a restaurant. 16 from 31 voted to go out for dinner. After they had won, suddenly they started to fight if the group should go to an Indian or a Greek or an Italian restaurant - strangely nobody wanted something English and of course they demanded that the colleagues who had wanted to stay at the office had to support their own preference and called them traitors if they refused and did point out that they were not for the restaurant idea to begin with..... Beginning of December from the 16 'let's go out' one had died from a heart attack and two had found better jobs in other companies. On the morning of the 24th, they were still arguing...
It’s also exhausting. If you get into a debate and the facts start to break through, one of two things happen. Either it goes silent and they start using the fake sound bites somewhere else or they resort to insults because a few working brain cells are telling the stubborn part of the brain they are wrong and it hurts.
Could we modify your comment from "mindset" to "opinions"? I am nearly positive no part of their mind was involved...in case it exists at all. Besides, imagine the torture to explain to them how the "cut and paste" command works? Their handlers in the Barracks must have torn their hair out...
I quite agree. Those, who, after 8 years, are still disputing the result of the referendum, are clearly obsessed. Obsession is a mental illness. Since lunatics are not allowed to vote, they should all be removed from the electoral roll.
That first comment you read out is priceless! Well, they all are actually. Brexit gold! These "thought-challenged" comments are meant in all seriousness, by their authors. As the saying goes, "they walk among us"
I am curious as to what has to happen to a person to become so oblivious to objective reality. Is it that they deliberately surround themselves with ignorance and propaganda, do they deliberately drown out the truth, do they submerge themselves with the idiocy of others they know that are just as stupid? The truth is bleedingly obvious to those with eyes and ears, unless you lock yourself away and only focus on only the opinion rags, also called "news" papers, and even then they only read the headlines. The hard of thinking are everywhere, but are they just ignorant or actually stupid? Can they be educated? Well, for many, no. Michael makes a perfectly good and articulate message for all of us that watch his videos, and it is objectively correct that we have all be utterly shafted by Brexit and this Tory government. And if you so strongly disagree with his topics of discussion, his pointing out of facts, and his opinions, then WHY THE CUK are you even here? Go paint a cave wall. To Michael - keep the videos coming. You're a legend.

But on the surface it seems to me that you have cut yourselves off from one of the largest trading blocs on earth and I'm just wondering how that is supposed to work out better for the majority. I'm thinking maybe nationalistic fervour isn't the best answer to a country's problems. Anyway, all the best and cheers from Aus.
Michael as you probably know, but it sounds like some others don't appreciate. The EU's primary purpose was to keep peace in Europe. That was Churchills motivation, I wonder what he would have thought of us achieving his goal only for Britain to jump back out to become sovereign outside of the EU? For me there is a simple message "that you need to be in it to influence it", however we simply pulled up the draw bridge blamed all the wrong people for the effect of austerity and then withdrew back to little Britain. It seems there are many inward looking small minded people who cant see how the world is developing around us and how irrelevant Britain is today. USA & UK spent 20 years developing and exploiting the Chinese industry whilst destroying British industry and now we are on our own having lost the skills that were once abundant in Britain. You can probably count the number of large British business on one hand, most products made in Britain are for foreign owned businesses. What do we uniquely have that has to be uniquely bought from Britain? Please don't let all the negative comments get to you. Brexit was the biggest case of self harm that a country could do to its self...apathy and ignorance prevails unfortunately, one day our so called leaders will see the light and do what is right for the British people instead of leading us down a political black hole!
That’s an insult to Neanderthals, it is now believed they were probably as smart as Homo sapiens, they used tools and probably had fairly complex languages.
I'm still an EU citizen, even after 54 years in Britain. I can't see one positive gain from BREXIT, just decades of economic damage and lost opportunities because of it. My relatives, from four EU countries, asked me in 2017 "What on earth did they do it for? Did they all go mad?" In 5 or 10 years I hope Britain gets a chance to rejoin the EU. But I suspect it will be a very difficult and costly process. In part because it's been a deeply damaging economic disaster for everyone in Britain.
There are a lot of crazy people out there, Michael. Listening to this from Portugal (while writing software for a client in America) was hugely entertaining. 🤣 Thanks again, Michael. Have a great day, my friend.
For those Brexiteers who believe in the "wonderful benefits" of Brexit, all I can do is quote American comedian Ron White "You can't fix stupid. Stupid is forever."
Talking of stupid... Here's a novel idea, how about you tell us why you think people who voted for Brexit are stupid, instead of just saying it. What's that? all you have is a totally unrelated comment from an American comedian? That's typical of pro-EU supporters. Nothing to say, and you call us stupid 🤣

Really, they don't. But to be honest, UK population grew by 20% in the last 30 years, Germany grew by 5% the last 30 years. Don't know why Germany is mentioned so often, while UK has the greater change. Maybe the picture of the last 10 years is different.

I often wonder about the backstory of these people and where they are writing from (presumably from within the UK)...and if there are any repeating patterns. I see crap like it in quite a few YT channels I tune into. I often think it's the 'not so silent minority' just mirroring something that might have flashed up somewhere online (delivered by a Rees-Mogg)...or maybe on the front page of a right-wing rag...and if they shout write loudly enough, they think they might actually be on to something. It's a bit fascinating but really quite disturbing at the same time.
It's Michael's calm, deliciously sardonic demeanour that I enjoy the most. One of my favourite political commentators has been the magnificent (now retired) Eddie Mair. May be some of you, over there on the island will not know how the situation in Europe is after Brexit. The simple truth is. There is no difference. It's all the same as it was before and no one really cares about Brexit. There is no discussion or interest to talk about Brexit here. We in UK had no say in ARM becoming American, with profits and taxes going to America. Well their industry has been massively hit by energy price hikes and insecurity, in part caused by the USA destroying Nordstream. They have increased bills due to diminished receipts from the UK and greater social costs from immigration, so expect further cost increases if you buy from the EU. Also, you are complaining about Brexit because a German brand car is defective and the German supply chains have become sloppy.
Exactly! Well done for pointing out how difficult the EU makes it for the 7.5 billion people not in the EU to buy products from the EU. This is why the UK has got out of the EU to offer a better service to other markets.
I visited the U.K. prior to Brexit. When I asked what Brexit was about, I was told that E.U. farmers were dictating to the U.K. what it could grow and sell. That seemed a bit odd, so I enquired further. Apparently, British farmers have so many legal restrictions on where and how food may be grown and sold that there exists a severe economic disadvantage to everyone's ability to distribute and purchase goods. I suggested that the problem was not with the E.U. but with a 19th century understanding "scarce resources" and "competitive advantage". No, I was told. Brexit would keep the "foreigners" out of their country. Building a wall to keep "them" out makes as much sense: none.
It's simple: when you want to matter as a middle-sized country in a globalised world, when you want to have a seat at the table with the big players (US, China, a future India) and have a say in things, you form a union with other middle-sized and small countries in your neighbourhood. So you can have a seat at the big table as a union. If you choose to leave that union, there's only place left for you at one of the small tables. Where you're reduced to being a rule-taker with hardly any leverage. And where the big players will s(h)it on you, whenever they feel like it.

If we apply that definition, Michael doesn't harm his own country by his video's, nor does any other country benefit from it. Your use of the term traitor thus doesn't apply to Michael. If we apply this defintion to brexiteer politicians, it might be more appropriate. UK is tangibly worse off since brexit, so their own country is harmed. Russia tries to divide Europe, which brexit accommodates. So it also tangibly benefits another country. Given the fact that those same politicians refuse to publish the Russie-report on Russian influence in British politics, does suggest that the "knowingly" part also applies. You didn’t even need a basic examination. From the Brexit camp. We were never told what we were voting for, only what we were voting against. The headlines for the previous 20 years read like a series of April 1st headlines.

If ignorance is bliss then these trolls must be ecstatic.

The way to change something for yourself, is to go your own way.
Why would anyone wish to impose their will on 26 others? That's not nice.
The political ignorance of the English electorate is utterly staggering! 😡

You only have to read the comments section of the Daily Mail and Sun to realise that.

Either it goes silent and they start using the fake sound bites somewhere else or they resort to insults because a few working brain cells are telling the stubborn part of the brain they are wrong and it hurts.
The bonkers Brexit brigade spout the same lines week after week. Brexiters and Trumpists have similar opinions.

Is it that they deliberately surround themselves with ignorance and propaganda, do they deliberately drown out the truth, do they submerge themselves with the idiocy of others they know that are just as stupid?
I had a friend who said it wasn't the Brexit he voted for. I asked him how many choices were on the voting form?
I always wonder what the right Brexit would be? Out of the EU but still want the benefits like being a member?
That was the Idea- extort concessions, give nothing take all.
A pirates approach-and that is the lasting impression the UK left in the EU.
Do never negotiate with terrorists.
And so many people from the UK write here tat they expect preferential treatment from theEU.
Completely delusional.
So they will have a very bad awakening when they try to join the EU.
The EU can not give anything that others would demand to get as well.
Obviously. The EU are forriners. Good old English exceptionalism. They must hand over all the benefits of being in a club to non members, because........ we're English.
"out of the EU, but still want the benefits like being a member"?
Isn't it the EU that wants the UK to be part of free movement for those under 30?
Now that's the definition of being out, but still wanting to be part of the EU.
I suspect it was: after all, the Empire worked that way. I often think that the UK's problem with the EU, was that it was treated as an equal, not a special case.
@@trytellingthetruth.2068So you want your people under 30 not give the uppertunety going to the EU? Looks like North-Korea.
Brexit was about some people in the UK, wanting all the benefits of being an EU member, without any of the responsibilities.
We already had that and threw it away.
There’s no cure for stupidity.
@@valentinerichardbarker8765 There's certainly "no cure" for those still having tantrums about a decision taken 8 years ago.
Breaking news , the adults on both sides of the argument came to terms with the results of the 2016 referendum long ago . For the sake of your mental well- being I suggest you do the same.
The UK always had sovereignty. It freely voted in the Tories for most of the past 45 years.
Not in Scotland where the Tories have not had a majority since the 1950s.
Well Michael, you really do read the comments. Poor you. At a remove, they’re hilarious, yet weirdly alarming. Thanks for the giggles.
I still feel bad for Scotland, first they got cheated in the independence vote and then got taken out of the EU against their will anyway 😢
They had a vote on both .They where never forced. Why feel sorry for them.
One thing is for sure, there is no reasoning with the likes of those people who text those comments, great work Michael 👍.
Thanks Martin 😊
I'm Australian I have always found you UK lot extremely funny.
I’m French and thinking the same with all those comments 😂 really stupid but funny people 😂😂 but the UK is in a real mess, and I’m not laughing at the ones who suffer at all 😔
@@Iain1962not as much as yours 😂 we live pretty well, and it’s a habit here to have strikes and some issues like that . But we live pretty well and no shortage on our shelves, we don’t have to wait for long for an appointment in the hospitals… some issues like other countries …. and you know, I can’t have a real discussion with brexiteers that don’t want to see the evidence . I don’t want to waste my time with them . Have a nice day 😉
Love from Scotland Oor. Mike

You are absolutely correct Mr Lambert 👍👍👍.
Another enlightening content from you, Mike. I’m not in the least religious, however I did recall a phrase and looked it up. It’s from Proverbs 11:29 He that troubleth his own house shall inherit the wind: and the fool shall be servant to the wise in heart.
Not sure that helps. And those who say that Brexit hasn’t happened may well be right. I have a feeling it’s going to get a lot worse before it gets better.
Geoff, from Fremantle, Western Australia🇦🇺🦘
Thank you Geoff - nice quote. You are right, it is going to get a lot worse. Things are already very difficult for many people 😊
Absolutely enjoy your vids Michael. Superb content including wonderful ripostes to comments, keep up the good work
Many thanks! 😊
It's more of the same, really. Brexit voters were conned. And now they either have to admit to themselves that they were conned, or they have to double down and insist they were never conned.
169 countries outside the eu 27 were not conned into a trade deal with free movement of people were they?
"brexit voters were conned"-
-says to a guy workin a blue collar job, in a factory where it is full of ppl who dont speak english, and his pay hasnt been increased for 15 years due to the eu free movement conveyor belt of cheap labour..
yeah right.. conned.. in 1974
The denial is strong with these people
@@oswaldmathias6371No Brexitards like yourself
Michael you are doing a great job. IT is unbeleavable to me how a great nation can be so self-harming to itself. The EU is not about punishing outsiders, but to protects its citizens.
Thaks EV 😊
Brexit was so obviously wrong/bad/stupid from just a basic examination it boggled the mind.
You didn’t even need a basic examination.
From the Brexit camp. We were never told what we were voting for, only what we were voting against.
The headlines for the previous 20 years read like a series of April 1st headlines. (Playgrounds, bent bananas, topless beaches, 100s of others)
The biggest advocates were known tax evaders and xenophobes.
Those 3 things were shouting, “don’t trust the message.”
I remember saying, “I am voting remain, let them come back with a proper plan in 4 years time and I might look again.”
Anyone that voted leave in 2016 was gullible, naive and easily fooled... Anyone that still supports it is just plain thick.
So all of us in the EU are thick for not wanting you back in? We are thick because the annoying childish member of the group doesn’t get a say anymore . Shall I continue because I got 100 more of these . Who’s the thick one now?
@@jcvastgoed1490 Lol..... read my comment again (this time slowly and out loud).
No, they were stupid and expected a windfall from the chaos of Brexit, because they were smart enough to understand that in Brexit the class society would be shaken up,
but too stupid to understand that Brexit was structured in a way that only the chums of the ruling would profit.
@@RealMash Anyone that expected a windfall from Brexit was as dumb as a sack of rocks. We all had access to the same data.
@user-uc8jo4nq1p Nope... I'm right and you know it. If you voted Leave you voted to destroy your country.
Well said as per usual Michael. You are one of the few oasis of truth in a desert of outright lies, intentional obfusion, and ignorant denial. Keep up the good work. Greatly appreciated. Ivan
Thank you very much, Ivan 😊
As a EU-citizen I am so glad that Britain is OUT and GONE. LONG LIVE THE 🇪🇺 🇪🇺 🇪🇺
I am in the South of France currently. Been here many times over the years. Love the place. No gaps on supermarket shelves, roads in better condition , plenty of different shops open, unlike our dead high streets. Yes it’s a little more expensive for food and fuel but i am finding food quality much better. I’ll some up, STUPID, POINTLESS, PATHETIC, RIDICULOUS BREXIT TO BLAME. Ruined my future plans. Love to listening to you. Please don’t stop.

It’s so sad younger generations cannot have the same experiences or any generation now really. May take decades but it will happen.
Thank you Graham 😊
@@thetruth9210 Why can't you leave the EU are you stuck there? Are you in prison? I do hate that people in prison get access to the internet these days.
Michael talks sense unlike m any of those who write to him.
Listen to the privileged sod. He's never done a day's work in his life.
Ian forgets (or perhaps doesn’t know) that the UK was amongst the big three in the EU…. Yes… the UK was one of the movers and shakers!
he's reading the comments of brexiteers.
St Michael, thank you...I absolutely love the MaDNeSS comments. Superb!
Thanks Jay 😊
😂
Thank you Michael, I’m laughing heartily in the balmy evening heat.
👏
I crashed into the ground, because I didn't jump off the cliff.
Hilarious if rather tragic .What ever is wrong with people ? The aggression , vulgarity expressed via what I take was "English " .Amazing how most foreigners minus or with a little boat can speak much better English . Yes it is a small percentage and loathing is their hobby .Sadly & as the saying goes " Poison comes in little bottles ".They have failed but others are to blame .I had to renew my British Passport this month .Where is it produced I ask all Brexit lovers ? .Not in UK .Nope in Poland. A nugget of nonsense .Many thanks Michael for a superb ready made comedy show :-)
Thank you Helena 😊
Why didn't those who voted to stop immigration fill the resulting job vacancies?
Because they are gammons that would not survive three hours working on the fields harvesting.
@user-uc8jo4nq1pYeah no way I was gonna trust Mr Johnson.
