Great video! I have (3) Node streamers around the house. I wish Bluesound would offer "trade-ins" on the old products for credits on the new ones. Pretty good value, but have had numerous updates and issues over the years. Would like to get latest version.
Nice try. Icon MSRP is $1K?? I was cross-checking with the WiiM Ultra. WiiM has all the features (and more) of the Icon and sells for $329. I think I will get the WiiM Ultra; it's a no-brainer...
I'm trying to wrap my head around this Icon Preamp/DAC/Streamer... The WiiM Ultra would be a better deal, I own one, and have been very impressed with the sound quality with my own DAC via the Ultra USB output. The only thing the Icon has going for it is the ability to use ones own power supply.
@@CarlVanDoren61 I had one of those too, with the LHY upgraded power supply. It did improve the overall sound quality and was worth the investment. But, given the choice, I would go with the Ultra.
. $999 for a Streamer that can't stream Music or Concert video? I already own an old DVD player where the picture has failed. but still plays CDs. Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊
It's interesting how Wiim has forced so many manufacturers to up their game. Audio components were like a decade behind, omitting HDMI and some still didn't have USB or streaming features. So, only way to stream was to connect to something with optical out, which kept the utterly useless streamer market alive. And the fancy "all in ones" (only in audio world would hdmi or basic streamer be called fancy) cost like $3k. Don't have a problem paying for a good amp or DAC but just because you added couple of inputs or streaming capablity to it doesn't mean it should double in cost. I guess they are coming to their senses. To be fair, bluesound has been one of the first ones to adapt HDMI in reasonably priced components for a while now.
Why no EBU, I2s and usb output? 🤷 please make streamer only dac WITHOUT dac!
It will not compete with the Wiim Ultra at the price point alone.. Needs to be around 599 ..
Wiim ultra at 80% quality compared to thousands valued DACs.

When are they updating the vault? That has been has been unchanged in years. It’s totally out of date

Doesn't have a decent power supply 😮
Also no Airplay
No XLR
