    I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THE PLAYER IS SO EXPENSIVE WHEN YOU CAN GET A ZIDOO PALYER FOR $1000 ... SO I THINK THE REALLY GOOD PRICE POINT WOULD BE $1999 .. FOR 1 TB .. AND COME ON STORAGE IS CHEEP .. THERE IS NO REASON FOR KALEIDESCAPE STORAGE TO BE SO CRAZY EXPENSIVE...

      I felt the same way until someone described it this way to me: They have research and development costs, which given they're a pioneer in this space, those costs will be higher.
      The more impactful factor is the fees they are having to pay the studios/ content creators. I would submit these fees are massive and a factor for why I am on the sidelines with this product which I feel is great.
      I question if they have long term viability to compete with the Apple's, Google's of the world. Sure, this product is notably better today, but those mainstream products are only getting better, and even if they don't get to the same level, it might just be good enough for most.
      My largest fear is investing thousands in media that may not be accessible down the road.

      I just hooked up a StratoV in my home theater this weekend. It’s Amazing!!! I feel like it woke up my home theater system. I do agree it has a very high entry point from a price perspective. But 2 things went into my decision to decide to purchase it.
      1. I was starting from scratch as it relates to “building my own storage/PC/Blu-ray rip solution”. To buy myself into that ecosystem would cost me money. Not as much but still not an insignificant amount.
      2. We do movie nights every Friday in my house. When Inside Out2 is first released on streaming platforms to buy for $29.99 my family is ready to watch it at that point. On streaming platforms the sound is terrible. But let me preface it this way. If I were to watch a new release movie on a TV using native sound, it wouldn’t really matter. But if you have a dedicated home theater with a 158” cinescope screen, high end AV receivers, multiple subwoofers, atmos calibrated room, etc., the most disappointing thing is to not hear it or see it to the capacity that you could. Now yes, I do have a high end 4K UHD player. But they don’t release movies to disc at the same time streaming services are offering you to buy it online. Telling my children that we need to “wait another 3-6 weeks for the movie to go to disc because it will look and sound better”, doesn’t really fly. And I’d rather watch it now, myself.
      After watching a few movies there is definitely a night and day difference in the sound. I was hearing sounds I wasn’t hearing before! For the few movies I have watched, the picture quality seems better than 4K discs as well.
      All in all I agree it’s expensive. But if you are heavily invested into a high end theater room it’s a must have in my opinion. The interface is very nice as well.

    They just need to allow us to use our own servers for storage. I can add massive Raid systems for a FRACTION of what they charge for theirs. THAT would be the major game changer. No reason to have to use their storage at those prices.

    • @hatoraidcowboy
      @hatoraidcowboy  3 месяца назад +1

      That’s fair. But a lot of companies do something similar. Look at Apple….lol…Oh you want to upgrade your specs? Gotta move up to the next model. Apple literally doesnt let you upgrade any of the SOC’s. People still buy them 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @PFproductions82
      @PFproductions82 3 месяца назад

      @@hatoraidcowboy the difference is Apple products are “affordable”. I can come up with the cost of a new laptop quite easily. I can’t afford the $60k or whatever the ridiculous price is for their max storage option! I can build a 100TB Raid for about $5k. Not $60k+, it’s just way way out of the realm for even most enthusiasts. And having to download a movie every time before you can watch it is unrealistic and a major hassle, not everyone has access to gigabit Ethernet and can do so in 10 minutes, it would take me close to an hour! So while the price drop for the Strato V is nice, until they allow our own storage it’s still a no go for so many of us.

    Pay over time with 0% interest, over 2 years for the lowest monthly payment possible. $4k is now $150. Also, you can still return it if you don't like it for some reason. If storage is your concern, the lifespan on the SSD is 2680 TB, so removing titles from the server and downloading more is no issue. Having 10,000 movies and shows downloaded is just to flex harder than mentioning K-scape. You really only need what the strato-v provides.

      This is mostly for playing things legally in a streaming format that are 4k.

      I agree, it’s not for me either. I am at a point of no return with my current investment in movies. I just don’t want to buy hundreds or in my cases thousands of movies again.
      I might think differently if I was starting out with building my collection.
      I also think it’s a matter of time before we see other forms of lossless audio.

      I did, waited about a week or two before purchasing. After seeing the reviews about the other players, this was a no brainer. With pay over time, it's really within reach for most people. I've already watched about a dozen movies, still have storage space, and it's exciting every time. Rewatching movies I've already seen is wild, because I'm seeing details I've missed the entire time. It's like watching it for the first time again. I inquired about the SSD lifespan or TBW. 2680 TB written before the drive fails. I think it can handle whatever you throw at it. Go ahead and download and delete continuously all day long for years on end. Not a problem

    I dont get why movie companies get behind this and make the devices cheap to buy but put movie prices up double price like a printer.
    Give device cheap make ink cartridge expensive.
    Because seriously make this product mainstream to replace 4k players and to make people think should i buy stream services or get this?
    The more people that buy the more money and cheaper everyone gets

  • @tkcdac

    I attempted to stream "Movies anywhere" and the picture was absolutely garbage. Same for Netflix and Prime. You never know on streaming platforms if you are getting any of the original sound formats without compression ( hint: you wont ).
    There is no other good way to view streams with quality, unless you take a few weeks of vacation to rip your library.

      Kscape isnt for everyone. But we all overspend on things that others might not understand why. There’s tv’s, processors, receivers, video processor’s, projectors and cables that people spend x10 more on than Kscape. I’ve never understood why nobody complains about those other products. If people are gonna complain about Kscape being overpriced they need to be consistent and complain about the other brands and products as well.

      @@hatoraidcowboy the player alone costs as much as my avm70. I got a 64tb server with all my bluerays and any of my rooms can play the movies using an Nvidia shield or Apple TV. It only cost me $1800 for the server. But like you said, it’s just not for everyone
