You know Michael, you’re right about if any of these companies go belly up, that’s it, you just lost everything you PAID for. That’s one reason why I like the physical hard disc. And the good thing about the hard disc, you can store it in your garage without it getting damaged, I hope.
Thanks for covering this product and many others that most people, including myself, can't afford. I love theater tech and love to see what's coming down the line as far as what is possible and what may be more attainable in the future.
🍿🍿🍿it’s so entertaining to see people who get so upset over the cost. It’s not targetting an average user, it is a luxury item! Just like cars… you can buy a Saturn or a Ferrari. Same function, completely different results/ experiences.
Great video Youthman and congrats on leveling up to AD. In the web interface under Advanced Video Settings, did you opt to "transmit content type metadata" to your NZ8? If you could share your web interface settings, that would be great. I also have an NZ8 as of two weeks ago and hope to dial in correctly.
If they had priced this at $1,999 with the same 1TB storage they would've seen their sales sky rocket. I feel the price that this is currently at should at least come with 4-6TB of storage.
It doesn’t matter what we personally think a company should sell their product for, every brand has to make a profit. If they can’t make a profit, they don’t stay in business. I don’t know any company that could reduce their pricing by 50% and remain in business. Could you survive if your paycheck was cut in half?
@@Youthman thousands of businesses are able to lower prices on their products once they become a bigger company and get better sources to help get a lower manufacturing cost per unit. Lowering the cost of the product doesn’t necessarily equal less money they make overall. If they’re able to find a sweet spot at a lower cost that allows a lot more people to buy, that easily could equal or likely surpass their sales now with the minimum of people buying it at this highly debatable price point. But.. they might not even want to get their prices down that low (even if they could) to maintain their premium look/price point.
@MrGettemTV they reduced the entry point from $10,000 to $4,000. I’m still not sure how you expect them to reduce that product by 50% and be profitable. 🤷♂️
Thanks so much for this video. I have saved for reference. I’m in Canada and am excited that I will get my Strato V next week. So happy to join this system.
Before the Strato V, I had no chance of talking my wife into letting me buy into Kaleidescape. Now with it only costing $4k to buy into Kaleidescape, there’s a chance! Hopefully we get some sales to bring it down to $3,500 or so. That would be great!
For the 1% wealthiest people this makes a lot of sense but for 99% of people you’d be better off to rip your own physical media to a nas or plex to watch it.
All about prioritization, got a friend that drives a really nice car, but lives in a small apartment and then I have friends that drives shitbuckets but have all the fancy toys. Your money, your choice.
Exactly , this is aimed at the more well off people that just have money to burn, this is in no way a great thing to get into for the average joe...just a plain rip off..... rip your movies and watch them on a Zidoo..or just watch it of the disc.... there is no way i would pay $15K for 22TB of storage... and that is at the lower end.. no thanks for me... if you can afford it all the best to you all..
You’re correct! $3995. Is way to much money for this simple device with its a very inexpensive transformer to convert from 120 AC volts to DC voltage it’s way overpriced. It shouldn’t be more than $250 to $500.
@@rayc9838 You can build an online store that allows you to download disc-quality movies at the touch of a button? One that gives you access to disc quality downloads BEFORE DISCS COME OUT? Whoa!

As usual, great content. You’re the best. You should open a school for theatre enthusiasts, but then again, here you are. Some of us do have the funds, as do I, but, I will save my bucks. Still too expensive.
This is the best Scenario for this company... Sell the unit "player" for say $1000 make it able to put your own external drives on it like Zidoo ... Your scenario will never happen because the studios will not allow it. if you were able to download legally movies to a standard hard drive, you would be able to take that file, upload it to any files sharing service and give it away for free. The studios would absolutely never allow that to happen. the only reason the studios will allow Kaleidescape to distribute their media is because of their proprietary hardware and software that encrypt those files to prevent them from being distributed.
@Youthman yes true I see where you're going with this ... but I think if you paid for it, it should be your property ... because if this company ever goes down you can say bye bye to all the movies you just bought.
Is that true youthman? Will you loose your movies? I mean, I know the answer, but remember when Bruce Willis had a dispute with Apple about his music. If he passed away, he wanted his kids to have his music. I don’t remember the outcome
The same could be said for voodoo, Netflix, Apple TV. If any of them goes bankrupt, so does all of your media. We don’t own any of our media, even physical media. You have a license to view it. That’s why there is an FBI warning at the beginning of the movie stating it’s illegal to copy movies.
When I’m allowed to own the movies I purchase I would get the new player. Price is more reasonable and the idea is great. But I don’t own the movie if I can’t watch it where I want.
