- Adam Savage, co-host of Mythbusters, speaks at the Reason Rally on March 24th, 2012. This was, in my opinion, the best speech of the day at the Rally...and he had some serious competition.
Saw the last minute of his speech in a movie called the Unbelievers and instantly went to youtube to watch the full speech. Bravo! Mr. Savage well done sir.

I absolutely loved this speech. I was there at the Reason Rally and this was my favorite. I related to him personally more than any of the other people onstage and also thought the message came across without being negative toward people of faith, even though I think they are misguided
With due appreciation and respect to all the speakers at the Reason Rally ... this was ... THE ... BEST ... SPEECH.
It certainly had the most epic fucking mic drop in the entire year of 2012!

I thought this was truly masterful. Adam, you are one of my living heros and i have a profound amount of admiration and respect for you. I believe you have made the world a better place. Thank you for all that you do.

stumbled accross this from a comment in "The Town Eskimo Speech"...watched this clip with a totally open mind...I heard alot of "I want", but more importantly I heard a message that made me feel like wow, this guy is the guy...he has all the answers, I really cant even paraphrase the point of this guys speech.

Why can we not find a politician like this man, true logic reasoning and fairness with ideas based in science reality and justice. Love the tv show and now have true admiration and respect for its host

I'm a Methodist. I do believe in Christ. However, the Bible is not fact, it is a story meant to inspire. Adam Savage is an atheist. I am a Christian. And I can honestly promise you that every word he said, IS FACT.
How do you know God exists, then?
I don't. I have no proof. I'm a member of the minority where I still have my faith in it but still am a man of science

Regardless of whether you have religion in you or not, you should be respectful of all, theists or atheists. It really isn't that hard.

I know, right? :) He made a great speech, too. I actually use his quote "Science is the best tool ever devised for understanding how the world works" to start my chemistry classes every year and it's posted prominently at the entrance to my classroom.

What's even more depressing is that this speech was more necessary today than it was just ten years ago.
What is depressing now Adam is agnostic because atheism science doesn't answer life's mystery questions and unanswersable consciousness.

he says he "plays" a scientist on tv, but what he does on mythbusters does fully qualify as science for the most part.

Growing up Adam Savage has been a hero of mine since I was 13. I became an atheist at the age of 19. I am now 22 and I am a Christian who is helping lead an anti-anti-theist movement on the internet for I have seen the damage it is doing. To know Adam Savage was apart of this "Reason Rally" somewhat disappointed me, however his speech was spot on and I still hold my respect for Adam Savage after watching this video. I'm glad it wasn't the whole "people who believe in God are stupid" crap.

"just as you can't tell me that He is a figment of my imagination" Until *you* provide evidence, that is exactly what everyone is allowed to say.

Truly a very different rally.
In addition, when it comes to morality, it's amazing how few people actually live up to the ideals we have created. We lie, cheat, steal with impunity and put a lot of effort into figuring out ways of getting away with this stuff without being ostracized by the society at large. We are opportunistic animals who have developed just enough intellect to question the world at large and the curiosity to attempt to find the answers.
I like Penn Jillette's speech that without religion to stop me from raping and killing, that I have raped and killed everyone I wanted to - and that number is zero!
