Right? My artist got a new brand of red ink and tried it out on a different part from what you see in the video (I think it's called "really really red" or something similar) and, wow, it's incredibly vibrant and (as the name would suggest) really, REALLY red. 🤩 I'm also lucky in that my skin takes ink really well.
If you stretch it, the adhesive ceases to be sticky, just like 3M hooks on the wall. Like, pull it away from the tattoo, horizontally, not toward the tattoo or perpendicular to the skin.
I always ask for it to be applied at the shop since I know it's sterile and the tattoo is as clean as it's going to get. I'll reapply at home with new stuff if it ends up getting compromised over the next day or so.
I just got the back if my neck tattooed and that tegaderm didn't stick. I took it off the next day and I'm sticking to conventional aftercare. Way more comforting
My tattoo became infected after using saniderm. Thankfully it healed well after getting on some antibiotics. I stick to the traditional aftercare now. My boyfriend on the other hand uses it for all his tattoos and has no issues.
It can be helpful to do the first night traditional - wash and balm. And the next day apply the second skin. At least that's what has helped others I know who've had issues with second skins. But always check with your artist.
great video! quick question... I took my tegaderm off in the shower and washed it a couple times. there are still sticky residue little tiny pieces on my tattoo that if I pull at will pull off. Ive got some but am afraid to pick at the tattoo. Do those glue spots come off on their own? do I need to pull at each and every one? thanks
When I removed the tatu-derm on the specified day, there were a few pimples in my tattoo. I am now on the 8th day of my tattoo care, the pimples get bigger as I apply the lotion, should I stop the lotion?
I removed mine today and I still have dry ink spots like yours on the video. I used bepanthen tattoo creme over the whole tattoo. Do I need to do something about the dry ink spots? They didn't came of :/ thanks for the video!
Tagaderm hurts me so bad! Is this probably a bad reaction? Ive used it for 5 of my tattoos and just taking it off like instructed sends my body into shock. I vomit, get whoozy and sweat buckets! Im a huge fan with how this heals the tattoo. I'm curious on thoughts!
i was instructed to keep it on for three days can i put on another fresh patch after those three days or do i let it breathe wash and moisturize for the rest of the healing process ? Or could i just do which ever way I’m contemplating this a lot (my tattoo is only 4 inches long)
Thanks! Got another session scheduled for August to do more filling and detail. Link to the artist's IG: instagram.com/ben_ervin_tattoos/ I've done the Tegaderm cover a few different ways: a single 48 hours, two 24-hour applications, two 48-hour applications, but either way what I've been told to do is, if you're taking it off and reapplying a new covering of it, to wash the area, let it air dry, and then just slap it back on. It's really an issue of degrees, all going toward the same goal. Ultimately, I believe you should do what works best for your skin.
I've done that but obviously it's your choice. As long as you feel confident that you're wrapping a sanitized tattoo, I'd be comfortable doing that. My usual regimen now is two 48 hour clear dressing (ie, Tegaderm) wraps and then lotion but, as I try to really drive home, aftercare is really personal.
Hi! Love the piece. I have tegaderm on my new tattoo. (I got it yesterday (17th)) and my tattoo is very dry under the bandage. There was blood and ink early in the day but now it looks really dry. Is that normal? Or any advice? My artist told me to leave it on for 2-7 days as well.
Thank you! 😊 Honestly, couldn't say and wouldn't want to. If you commit to a specific afterare regimen that your artist suggested then you should follow it. Other than that, listen to your artist. That said, 2-7 days is a HUGE range. I've never done more than 4 days with a Tegarderm aftercare plan and even that, to me, seemed like a very long time but my artist (whom I trust emphatically) told me that's a great plan. But, as I say in the other videos, it's all about you and your skin and your ink and your artist and... well, everything. So here's my completely unscientific and non-medical thought: back in the day, I had tattoos done that I just did a few days with A&D ointment on and then lotion. It itched like hell and I hated every minute of it. The work healed just fine. Since then, I've (my last session, as the example) just thrown Tegaderm on it for 96 hours and after that it was just lotion and it was totally healed and beautiful. (But like I say in my "Is This Normal?!" video: your mileage may vary.)
I just got my first tattoo Friday, today in Monday and it’s only been wrapped once since my artist wrapped it. I’ve just been using ivory soap to clean it and Eucerin healing lotion but I just got Aquaphor today but haven’t used it. It get dry quick and it’s very itchy. Should I use saniderm off and one for a week?
If you sweat heavily, artists usually recommend you take the plastic bandage (tegaderm, saniderm, etc.) off and use a traditional cleanse and mositurize method from then on.
did you wash it after removing the tegaderm with a certain kind of soap? What lotion do you recommend using and how often do you moisturize it after doing the tegaderm?
Just realized I didn't have the products in the video description! I've updated it so they're all there now. :) As for the frequency of lotioning, conventional advice is 2-4 times per day, depending.
In my experience, your artist determines that. I started with 24 hours and now I'm up to two regimens of 48 hours, each. That works crazy well for me but (and if you've seen my other videos this will sound familiar) your mileage may vary. 😅
Yep, I've had that. In some areas it just loves it and in others it starts getting mad. Inside the bicep/near the armpit and on the elbow ditch, especially. Oof, those hurt to take off.
Yes always in the shower. And it feels good pulling off. Like if you ever get a sunburn and you have peeling skin. 😜😈 Only time it may hurt is if there’s some hairs that weren’t shaved off.
uhh the black and red looks so good together. 5/5

Just wanted to say your voice is so soothing!
If you stretch it, the adhesive ceases to be sticky, just like 3M hooks on the wall.
Like, pull it away from the tattoo, horizontally, not toward the tattoo or perpendicular to the skin.
Thats usually what I recommend, stretching it parallel to the skin. I believe that the manufacturer also suggest it be removed that way.
Love all your videos! So very helpful!
Did your artist/shop apply this for you, or did you apply after arriving home after an initial cleaning? Thanks
I always ask for it to be applied at the shop since I know it's sterile and the tattoo is as clean as it's going to get. I'll reapply at home with new stuff if it ends up getting compromised over the next day or so.
Thank you.. Great question

Was told to peel horizontally not vertically
Listening to this made me cringe. I just took mine off yesterday and it comes off much easier in the shower, the heat helps the glue release.
I'd just taken a shower when I did this so it wasn't as bad as it sounds. And this actually felt really good because it was itchy. 😅
So for how long do you keep re applying the saniderm ?
I've taken to just doing two bouts of 48 hours each.
I keep my first lot on for 24 hrs and then leave the second lot on for 4 days
I remember when I took my off. It was so satisfying.
Right?!
When I removed the tatu-derm on the specified day, there were a few pimples in my tattoo. I am now on the 8th day of my tattoo care, the pimples get bigger as I apply the lotion, should I stop the lotion?
How long would u keep it on with a small tattoo
Depends on what your artist recommends. Usually 5-7 days and it’s healed.
Do u wash and put moisturizer 2 times a day after taking it off on the 7th day?
I removed mine today and I still have dry ink spots like yours on the video. I used bepanthen tattoo creme over the whole tattoo. Do I need to do something about the dry ink spots? They didn't came of :/ thanks for the video!
How long does it take for the wrinkles in the skin to go away as a result of the wrap? I'm leaving mine on 5 days before I remove
A couple of hours maybe
I though I was the only one who had wrinkles 😭
I have the same stuff on but my tattoo is peeling do I still take it off rn?

Huh, that's interesting. I'd probably avoid it if that's how your body reacts.... Perhaps ask your doctor next time you're there?
did you have the symptoms before taking it off?
Sadly i had an allergic reaction to it having hives around a fresh tatoo is not fun
Yikes! Was they're any permanent effect on the tattoo?
@@Inkademic i do not think so was a couple of weeks ago so its still healing
@@mintsiez 🤞🤞🤞
My husband had a reaction too!! Well our tattoo guy uses saniderm. I didnt have a reaction but he did.
yep same had a reaction to the adhesive after the 24hr mark but didn't damage the tattoo but did have hives for like the first week
i was instructed to keep it on for three days can i put on another fresh patch after those three days or do i let it breathe wash and moisturize for the rest of the healing process ? Or could i just do which ever way I’m contemplating this a lot (my tattoo is only 4 inches long)
ur tattoo is stunning by the way

Inkademic Gotchu Thanks for the input !
I got tattooed today and she bandaged it with normal non stick gauze, could I wash it and apply tegaderm tomorrow and leave that for 48 hrs?

Hello. Before you apply the tegaderm do you lotion up the tattoo or just apply the tegaderm??
I let my artist apply it when the session is over. After 48 hours I remove it, wash, let it air dry and then just apply another wrap.
Itching is totally expected. Don't scratch it! My "Is This Normal" video covers the kind of Saniderm aftercare solution.
What if you sweat? Would that make you prone to infection?
If you sweat heavily, artists usually recommend you take the plastic bandage (tegaderm, saniderm, etc.) off and use a traditional cleanse and mositurize method from then on.

Max amount of days to leave on???
"Quite some time." Equals??? 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
In my experience, your artist determines that. I started with 24 hours and now I'm up to two regimens of 48 hours, each. That works crazy well for me but (and if you've seen my other videos this will sound familiar) your mileage may vary. 😅
Appreciate the help!!!
Did yours have a weird smell after taking it off? Cause mine does
Nah.
Where can you get this
I bought a roll on Amazon. 🤷♂️
Why mine dosent remove that easily under shower or not its painful
It's different for everybody, really. Mine removes really easily in some spots and in others (like close to the armpit) it's difficult, at best.
@@Inkademic on my knee and the crease i was dying! Thanks you i was thinking i did something wrong
I usually can't leave mine on for more than a day before my skin gets angry. I have unfortunately sensitive skin.
Yep, I've had that. In some areas it just loves it and in others it starts getting mad. Inside the bicep/near the armpit and on the elbow ditch, especially. Oof, those hurt to take off.

Thanks! It's courtesy of Ben Ervin at Haunted Hands in Tucson, AZ. Still a few sessions left. instagram.com/ben_ervin_tattoos/
I was told to keep mine on for 3-4 days
Most recently that's been for me, too. I've tried to do 48 hours, remove, clean, reapply for another 48. I really like that method, personally.
nice ASMR
What about fixing old prison work
A lot of tattoo parlors will do that kind of work for free, actually. Just call 'em.
I need this tattoo design bro
It's a custom piece done just for me. Sorry. :)

Three people don't like seeing me after a shower.
this wasn't as goopy as i expected.
Yeah, the Alice part that I show in the reviews was way goopier.
