I feel that the parents drugged the kids to keep them asleep so they could hang out with friends. Maddie overdosed and that's why the dogs 'hit' on both the room and the trunk. The twins didn't wake up when the cops arrived through all that hullabaloo. Ummm... Why didn't they wake up?
I don't believe they purposely killed that sweet little girl and this was an accident and they panicked.

I don't know... I always got the feeling that it was an operation, but if he was a burglar/pedo who happened to stumble across maddie during a typical break in and took advantage of the opportunity, that seems very possible.
I have a very hard time processing my feelings about this case. I recognize that if she was trafficked, she likely would have lived a hellish life, but it would leave room for hope that she's still alive. Though I don't know that she'd necessarily prefer that to be her reality, and I don't want to pray for that for her...
Ideally, I'd love for it to turn out that she was taken and given to a mother who could not conceive, and that she's been cherished and cared for during all of these years away from her family. Still a terrible situation, but the best anybody could hope for, so I think I'm just going to hang on to that until it's conclusively proven otherwise.

My parents did it in the 70's but we were ages 5 thru 10 and we knew they were only a block away at the bar. My parents were alcoholics and our little town only had 90 people most were family or life long friends so it was normal and everyone did it. Then one day something happened and that all changed, doors were locked at night and parents were home with the kids at least one of them. If I had kids I would never leave them alone like that but different times i guess.

Appalling that these educated doctors left three babies alone in a hotel room while they wined and dined. No babysitter! They are the only ones responsible and are negligent and also are the only ones who knows where her body is. All the evidence is in plain sight but the body to this day and yet they blame a pedophile who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong record to have at a time of questioning. He was profiled because of his passed and much evidence was skipped over that they already had before then because authorities were frustrated and wanted to put an end to the case along with hoping he's the guy so that they can find a body. But tis not the case here. The parents made a mistake and panicked with thought of their lives are over if truth be told. They should have just come clean to begin with and they wouldn't have gained international media attention. Not there is no way out of what's to come eventually.

When my youngest daughter was the same age as the twins, she would sleep through her teenage sisters sporting events on a regular basis. She would sleep sitting on my lap on packed bleachers in a crowded gymnasium with people yelling and clapping, buzzers going off, and whistles blowing all around her. Even being passed from person to person if I had to go to the bathroom didn’t wake her. She slept through her sisters softball team winning a softball tournament while horns honked and people cheered and yelled right beside her at the top of their lungs. She was a super active child, she literally never stopped moving until she fell asleep and when she did, she was OUT! She was used to sleeping through noise because she had older siblings and because we didn’t tiptoe around while she was sleeping, she got used to sleeping through it.

I get what you are saying as your daughter sounds exactly like me… but I was eventually diagnosed with Narcolepsy in my 20’s. I am also a mother of twins so am more inclined to believe that no sane parent could or would ever confidently leave twin toddlers unsupervised for ANY amount of time ESPECIALLY in an unfamiliar environment (let alone a foreign country!) without first sedating them with drugs. When you think 🤔 about it, the parents had a lot to lose like let’s just say for example their medical license! If they lost their job titles: along with their reputation & income, they would also lose their identity & country club social status (there is a very real stereotyped white privileged British/UK🇬🇧 old boys club superiority mentality… so being part of the “upper class” is a BIG cultural deal (especially for a classic self-centred narcissistic jerk like the Dad whom like to look down on others and thinks very highly of himself!) in society, which I feel plays a very big part and is kinda a major overlooked motive for the parents to commit a cover up or unfortunately even murder!

Can't even see doorways or windows, (*and none of them were locked* !! ) ....the children will be 'checked on'.... maybe... every half an hour...or hourly...or when someone remembers they have kids....and it will be an done by an adult who's been drinking alcohol for hours.
Do they still think leaving the children was safe? If so, don't ask them to babysit your kids!
Even without evil intruders it's all so unsafe, so risky and dangerous. But wait! There's more! The McCanns had options. Free of charge options.
If you can sit through a lengthy 'documentary', just total up the time the McCann children saw their parents on that day, which was a supposedly normal, average day.
The bath and bedtime story, if true, were the most time those children were with a parent. They dropped them at the childcare at about 8:30 am, the childcare people took them to lunch, Mc Canns then collected them about 5:30 iirc, for some kind of scrappy meal, bath etc.

Thank you for a very comprehensive summary of this case. What stuns me most about little Madeleine's parents is that they are still able to practice medicine dealing with members of the public when they clearly did not have the basic mentality, care and compassion to protect their own 3 children instead putting their basic needs first. They should have been charged with neglect and given time to reflect rather than garner over £12.5 million in public funding for the police investigation with a further £300,000 top-up likely to come soon, it has this week been revealed that Gerry and Kate McCann's privately administered fund now has an astonishing net worth of £773,629. Sadly it is highly unlikely any amount of money will bring justice for Madeleine.

I couldn’t jump on the conspiracy bandwagon that her parents killed her. I don’t believe this to be true. However. I can’t help but feel frustration towards them for leaving such small children alone in a foreign country while they mingled with friends at a bar. The general mood here in the Uk after this happened in 2007, was if the parents had been working class folks from a council estate, they’d have had to answer child neglect charges upon their return . I still to this day feel like they got off with at least that much .

    • @Jauly

Their parents were involved very likely and this is not a conspiracy theory. Why did Kate say "They took her" if she just did not find her daughter? First thing is she would think she ran away through the unlocked door and search her all over the place, but she requested road blocks all over the contry. And the McCanns never shed a tear, they always acted sngry or confused. Parents who lreally ost their child to a predator are devasted, in tears and powerless.

Details in the parents’ story changed over time, however, that is exactly how human “memory” operates (we recreate a memory each time we recall it). If they covered something up, they’d have rehearsed their story so that the details would not have been as subject to change.

    • @dryb3301

The criminal psychology states exactly the opposite. They conclude if your story is changing over the time it's because you are lying. So some things will add up, some things would drop and timing and other minor details would change because it's very hard to remember a detailed lie. But that's not the case when it comes to truth.
But in this case it's possible the parents were so drunk they couldn't remember anything accurately. They've been drinking for 3 hours at that point and they were on vacation, so I'm guessing not a glass of wine

Obviously you don’t know anything about this story. You need to read the book written by the Portuguese investigator that was first assigned to the case. He said the parents behavior was so weird, in fact he said when everyone was out looking for her the first day, they didn’t leave their apartment. What parent would not be running around looking for their child. And she wrote a book, the mother, and Shamelessly wrote about how she couldn’t refuse sex to her husband while her daughter was missing. This is beyond disturbing. We didn’t need to know this garbage.

I don't think the parents harmed her, but I feel they were very negligent in leaving all 3 of their kids unattended. I think a pedophile observed their habit of leaving their kids alone in the evenings when they'd go to Dinner with their friends, and took Maddie. Sadly, I think she was killed shortly after her abduction, and I shudder to think of what that sweet child went thru, if that's the case...it truly breaks my heart. 😢
