I was born and raised in Scotland and I have lived there my whole life. It may not have the best weather but it is a beautiful country. I'm happy to call myself Scottish :)
I went to Scotland in 97 , met scottish gentleman with his lovely wife , he introduced himself as Ewing , we were total strangers discussing this song and Eric Liddell , as a parting gift he gave me a can of Scottish tea , I will never forget his scottish hospitality , Scotland is beautiful with people like him , if you are reading this Ewing , I like to say a big THANK YOU !
I've been to England a couple of times, but never got to Scotland. From what I see on here and google earth Scotland is the most beautiful place on earth. I'd really like to see it sometime.
Beautiful as always and my heart and soul shall forever belong to Bonnie Scotland and her magical highlands and she forever sits upon my right shoulder "ALBA GU BRATH" XOXXO I will never forget my magical journey during "Home Coming 2009" my heart and soul truly felt it had found home and came home...
my mom wanted to take myself and my daughter (then she was 3, now she is 14) to Scotland to learn more of our roots (my grandmother came from Scotland when she was 4). Sadly, my mother passed away that year. I hope to one day visit Scotland. It's the only t hing on my bucket list.
While I were studying in the UK as an exchange student, I went to Edinburgh to visit my friend there. I was amazed and astonished by the mixture between tradition and new developments. It was a beautiful place and I really wish I could have spent more time in Scotland, visiting other parts of it.
I'm a Singaporean who had stayed in Glasgow during my overseas exchange program and I would say the Scottish people are awesome, and Scotland itself is an amazing place! Really miss the days there :)
The first time heard this song, i was skipping through the pre-installed songs on a Yamaha PSR E303 keyboard. When i heard it, my mind was immediatly filled with warm emotions. It's as though i was taken to a peaceful place back in time. Now, i just put it on repeat, and let it play through the night. For me, it's a very simple melody, yet powerful in emotional content. I love it, and i'm from the land of hard core dancehall and reggae music.
What you talking about? Weather is beautiful the way it is. And that GREEN grass! Is one of the most beautiful places I've been. Let's not forget how beautiful is around XMAS time. Bagpipes, joy. :)
Feel British? I feel British every day, wherever I am in the world. I recognise your underlying tribute to the beauty of Loch Lomond, but our whole nation is a wonderful place too. My family is from Scotland, and I hope the English, like me, can stand hand in hand with our Scottish brothers for many centuries to come.
I visited UK and Ireland 6 years ago, and to this day, I long to return to Scotland. I felt truly at home there. Everything I saw was absolutely breathtaking, including Loch Lomond on a rainy, overcast day in October. I will return someday.
This has to me, since my earliest childhood, been Scotland - it is the most beautiful song in the world - no matter whether the traditional version or the rough and tough version by Runrig. When I was a wee laddie, I swore, that one day, I would sing that song on the very banks of one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. I did it - many years ago - I do hope, that the Scottish nature, and the loch itself has forgiven me by now - it is one of the great experiences of my life - Alba gu Brath
so beautiful. just brings tears to my eyes to hear it and look at how gorgeous Scotland and life can be. I live in Canada but my dream is to go to loch lomond and play this song on my ipod or something. would me absolutely everything
This video is Amazing! Lovely photographs. My wee brother, who died 5yrs ago now, lived in Dumbarton and drank in all the pubs in all the places around Loch lomond. He loved this place. I must play a version of this on the whistle :) Thank you for posting.
I must have been Scottish in another life, as I've been missing this song and these places. (I don't think I've heard it before). Thank you glasgow1234
The basic melodies of this song are also obvious in the Braveheart soundtrack, as well as in Slade's "Run Runaway" & Bob Geldoff's "Great Song Of Indifference"
Beautiful landscapes. A great song of the Scots. It is possible that my wife is of Scottish descent. Her surname was Philp.Anyway, thank you for posting this version. May God bless you.
I recently transcribed the Bonnie Banks into e-minor to play on my cello at a slow tempo. The tune is so moving played this way: it reflects the deep meaning of the lyrics beautifully. Thank you for this recording.
I climbed ben lommond and I was taken back when looking from the top, It's probably the most beautiful place in scotland, and trust me ive seen a lot of scotland
to everyone and to yourself accwil, I did go there as a dream come true just a few days ago i traveled there all the way from Canada and was amazing to see it from two years of wanting to go there form this video. however even though there was quite alot of people there unexpectedly and there were clear-cutting sites of chopped forests everywhere which made me feel disgusted, it was still beautiful and a dream come true!
So very lovely & brings tears to my eyes. This makes me think of Scotland & my Scottish ancestors. What happened to the end though?! This lovely tune was abruptly cut short! No good.
This song is about two Scottish prisoners at Carlisle, of which one was to hang and the other set free, the older man said to the young man, “I will take the high road” and so the young man was set free.
the honour of knowing you was mine, i have endless love for you, liz, kirsty, donna, and your 4 grandkids, whom sadly i never knew until your passing, otherwise i would have loved to chat and discuss thier lifes and similarities to my kids, i know you will be watching down on all of us, thankyou uncle ian ( i wish i had called you that to your face ) Dean Foy XXXX
If my grand dad was born 1871 and grew up in Tain can I lay some claim to saying Scotland is my home too? Been there to his house he lived in when he was born. Felt like I belonged there too!
KrautGoesWild Servus, find ich toll. Vielleicht kannst Du rüberbringen, dass das Lied ja von 2 Wegen spricht, nach denen man sich trifft. So auch Du und Dein Papa!Farewell, my Dear!
I want to go to scotland so badly... it looks so unbelievable beautiful... but at the moment i haven't got enough money to go there... but... someday i will be in scotland *-* ♥
In May 2012, the YES campaign for an independent Scotland was launched and a declaration was made and is calling for at least one million Scots to sign showing their support. If you live in Scotland and support independence for your country then please visit yesscotland . net / declaration to sign. If you are not in Scotland, don't worry, you can still sign the declaration but will not be counted into the one million. Give this a thumbs up if you have signed and say YES to Scottish Independence
