Hello Sir, first I want to tell you that you are amazing. If you can specify more what components should be doing like the Crystal or the coil or why there is a transistor it would be helpful to understand what we are not looking for. To check the remote have a look at RtlSdr. It is a usb radio which picks up 433mhz and costs 5$. Thank you. Keep up the good work :) Ps: nobody who wants to learn watches 7 minutes..
Well done, a channel that really interests me. In my opinion, your problem was that you tried to measure voltage at 8:00 but the multimeter was on ohms that's all.
If I’m not mistaken the key is read off of the ohms of the coil through the ignition and if shortening the coil lowers the ohms it may have issues starting the vehicle I could be wrong but I do know replacing these keys can easy run up to 700$ on the high end to replace and program
turn on you am radio and tune it to the lower end of the spectrum. place the remote against the back of the radio and press the buttons. You should hear a chirping sound if the remote is working.
hello Sorrin, That coil is induction coil.Trough that coil remote is getting power from the car, when remote is in it's socket. With that power, optical security is enabled, and car reads data from remote trough IR led in front of key. It's really cool security feature wich is used by Mercedes. :) so you fixed that remote, and there had not to be any Voltage on that coil, cuz it is getting it from car :)
Maybe it could work with some old Headphones from an old Mobile Phone, that way you can Hear the Signals... but don't know if a Car Remote is not Powerfull enough to hear the Signal. I test Wireless things with an old DVB-T SDR Stick, works well. btw. thanks for your Video's... loving it ;)
My Saab 9-5 2005 45,000 miles has issue with keys wont lock car i synced it manually, works great but then stops again when i leave car dont think i saved it once got in program mode. Could it be the receiver box not the one around the ignition tho or could it be ignition, the car knows the doors are shut ie the door switches the radio turns off when pull key out ignition, door locks work fine ?? Please no one can figure this out,ANY question welcome p.s tanks for the video really. Other key type 3 button
You can measure voltage between two points without breaking the circuit (in parallel), to measure current you have to actually let it flow through the meter - you have to break the circuit and insert the meter as part of it (in series).
I believe there is other way to test if any remote is working, after repaired, and correct me if i'm wrong: 1st, point the remote to a mirror and keep pressed the botton. 2nd, grab you telephone camera and turn it on, pointing it to the mirror also... If you see a light coming out from the remote, it's working :) Note: our eyes cant see infra-red lights, but mobile camera phones, can Just a curiosity.... Cheers to all from Portugal!
That is a SAB key. And that coil is the antena that comunicated with the actual chip that is on board. Nice JOB!
Always a real pleasure watching your videos. Thank you from Buenos Aires.
Sorin Master
Thank you for all.

Find your frequency counter. Fantastic channel keep up the good work my friend..

He use power supply, not the multimeter..
Car remotes suffer also from dry joints and especially the PCF 73xx are prone to dry joins ,and the other smd chips as well.

Felicitari pentru filmulete, imi place sa le urmaresc, desi nu sunt electronist.
@ 5:22 expensive car = expensive invoice cheap car = cheap invoice 😄
judging by the poor work done on remote ,especially that coil isnt lacquered for example. ,it's a cheap car.

When you will make the videos abaut the power supply lesons? Thanks apreciate your efforts.
Hello, How do you test a "crystal" in and out of a circuit, Great videos Sorin....keep on going.......
You first checked the coil mismatching the leads of the multimeter. Luckily the coil was actually broken!
i would have check against an am radis an look for interference (crackle) when button are pushed just a throught for you sorin

Thank you, i'm still learning :)
@@electronicsrepairschool best thing in world is that we can learn from each other :) Thank you for all your lessons.

Have you tried using mobile phone apps with audio jack and diy 10x probe for quick n cheap oscilloscope. Just for fun

The best way is to use an SDR Software Definited Radio. It may be used also for testing others types of transmission/
Check with the oscilloscope. You should see the RF at the coil.
Where can I send my Saab remote to get resoldered? My unlock button doesn't work and needs to be resoldered
Salut Sorin, ce ciudat este sa te aud vorbind in română! 😄😄
Thank you big like
Salut Sorin si salut pentru Diana :)
merci :P
Love the videos good job ))
What is crystals and how do they work?
Just search for "oscillator" in google and youtube. ;)
Something else nice 👍🏻
Mr Sorin...where is your Oscilloscope? Did you Break It !?!?
how to put a multimeter in serial mode what do you mean

yes, u right for the ir and uv remotes
@@electronicsrepairschool Big congrats to you Sorin! Love your work and way to deal whit everything
This is an fm transmitter car remote :))
Dude, its an RF remote.
Like sorin answers you for ir and uv but this is an RF remote control
