Excellent video Sorin!
We need more from switching power supply repairing.
Agreed
I had this exact same problem on three monitors, Just fixed two monitors after watching this video.
Thank you so much!
STYLO great job. Good luck to you. 👍😊
Welcome to your workshop, teacher, very good class and we miss you so much. Greetings from South America, Argentina
Well done !
You have given a proper way to diagnose and examine the power supplier,
In this case of Voltage instability at the output.
Thank you
Nice to see you back Sorin. Hope you and yours enjoyed your Holidays and you are refreshed enough for a HARD job many thanks
This makes me a bit more confident to fix the power supply of my B&W Zeppelin Air. Thank You, learned a lot.
As we speak, I am repairing a zeppelin air - all the electrolytes were dead... and 4 diodes - unfortunately I cannot put hands on a schematic, so it will still be a challenge...
You make the best repair video's. It's almost like a meditation. Sipping some smoke an calm down to get deeper in touch with the fault. Then you Find it and Fix it like a guru. I'm loving it!
Taltech chip you said it right. Yes its like meditation. You feel so calm, introspective, alert and I'm the end you feel exuberant with joy and feel so positive. I've even told Sorin and my friends that you watch one of his videos first thing in the morning and you feel great to take on the day right? That's why I suggested Sorin not to edit his videos and I'm sure he won't do that. Good luck to you and yours, from India. 👍😊
Just wanted to say how much I’m enjoying these, and am now inspired to dig into my collection of “someday” repair projects.
Thanks!
Thank you Sorin. I learned a lot how to diagnose the problem.
On a basic switching power supply. Thank you for the time.
Thank you Sorin for the huge amounts of information about the switching power supply and a photocoupler
Which previously don’t know about it how its works
Big thumbs up
I had this oscilating problem once and it was exactly the opto coupler thing too! Good job! Thanks for the video.
Thank you for the great lesson and for the valuable time you spend to teach us!
Sorin, thanks for this video.
Have been doing repairs on PSU for many years, most of them easy, some hard to find the real problem as things interact.
Your way of thinking and explaining on the secondary feed-back to the primary was great !
I have never been thinking about testing the cut-off voltage level, like you have tested the 12 volt on the opto directly, fantastic.
Please keep up the great work and try to enjoy yourself whilst making the videos, like we do watching them :-)
Paulo da Graca well said. Thank you. Good luck.
I'm new here and I need to sign up right away. You're a great teacher! Your skills are amazing.
The first time i see someone ho knows whta he is doing , the great explanation , thank you Man
Hope you and your family had a great holiday. Good to have you back.
You are back! And with another great video 🤓
multumesc , am inteles in sfarsit cum lucreaza un octocuplor, respecte pentru munca depusa
sorin siir i really missed you we're celebratin eid in Algeria so i wish you all the good stuff and happiness thank you so much
TheEthical H that's so nice of you indeed. Love.
Opto coupler feed back from secondary power which feeds back secondary output voltage to the switching drive IC in primary drive. Drive IC sends pulse width switching pulses to FET which in turn drives primary side transformer . Typical switch mode power supply feedback loop. Your correct. Primary needs to know what secondary voltage is.
Sorin, once again you come thru. I was troubled with a stereo I was repairing for myself. Then the magic came from your mouth, Its usually the 431 that goes bad. I found it as a small smd on the underside of the board. Replaced it and problem solved. It had not broken down completely , it was cutting the voltage down, which was confusing. Thanks again :)
Wow. I wish I had your problem solving skills. You're so methodical in your approach. Excellent skillset!
A very instructive vidéo, many thanks Sorin !
Good knowledge! Always interesting to watch the troubleshooting part.
Thanks for the detail explanation along with the capacitors discharge or shorted to ground. Your oscilloscope detailing is really impressive. Thanks for the teaching and sharing. Gain a lot
Hope you a great holiday!
Really great video, I like these shop workflows scenes, nice to watch and learned a lot. Good job!
Excellent job Sorin! All the best to you.
Perfect explanations! Thx Sorin!
Thanks teacher for this lesson.
Multumesc! I previously fixed a cheap SMPS just for the sake of it, since the parts cost me more than the PS. However I did't know the trick to check the low side regulation.
Salutari din Galati!
Esti genial Sorin cat de bine explici.
Multumim din suflet!!!!
Good job Sorin. Good to know that this part can cause that type of issue. Kciuk w górę :)
great video this is the kind of video that you really can learn from, please more like this thanks a lot
thanks a lot i just same fault on smt580 repaired GOOD TIMING
Good timing here as well, I have just dismantled an LCD monitor with power supply issues
Very nice troubleshooting.
Thanks Sorin I'm Watching your videos from Guatemala
Great Videos!!
greeting from Malaysia...the best electronic teacher!
This is good info. I probably trashed/destroyed some boards in the past because of this, or because of the tl431.
thanks Sorin,great lesson
FANTASTIC VIDEO!!!! FANTASTIC REPAIR!!!
Mr Sorin you are unbelievable !
Thank you Sorin . Great video as usual . :-}
just amazing , thank you for that time , well done and much appreciated
Thank you, this cleared up a lot of questions that I had.
Nice fix. Great lesson. Nice feeling to have a win. :)
Hi from turkey. I like your works :)
Thanks for that video. Learned a lot
Merci Sorin !
Vidéo très intéressante !
Loved it ,great tutorial.
more lesson from switching power supplies professor.thenks for that video.
I've been searching for a video like this, thanks
Excellent job
I'm a pharmacist and could understand what was about. That's a professor!
It would be nice if you would do some trouble shooting and repair of cheap video cards off something like ebay so that some of us can learn the correct process. I have tried removing items and checking them, injecting current and voltage without any luck. There are people doing this on expensive cards that look nothing like the cheap cards and they move so fast and with the camera back so far that you cannot see what or were they are checking things. Thanks for your time. Stay safe.
Superb fault finding!
Master of electronic. what a brain!
Helpful video 👍
you're great teacher
Would love to see a collab with Louis Rossman that would be quite interesting. Great video as always maestro
You can't necessarily tell if the capacitors are fine just by looking at them. At least half of the bad capacitors I have found with an ESR meter, looked perfectly fine, but they were causing the units not to power on. I can't believe that you don't have an ESR meter. The "Blue ESR tester" is a great meter because it gives accurate and consistent readings instantly. The very cheap ESR meters can take a very long time to get a reading.
That was a hard one good job👍🏻👍🏻
Great video😊
Perfect as always. 👍
Simply great!
a lot of information thank you
fantastic lesson thank you.
Thanks Sorin. Please can you go into more detail on how the TL431 works. What actually sets the voltage reference?
Thanks Sorin? great video as usual.
Thank you so much.
great video
Excellent!
good analysis ...... thanks
thank you repair school
Nice find of an uncommon fault, with explanation
Hello man we miss you
As a muslim I wish for you Eid mubarak with respect and good health
Great one!!
I love this man!
Good job
thank you ,i have a problem with this ic tea 1716 in led tv power supply NO POWER, her problem is that it was exposed to high voltage, and I found the main capacitors swollen, I replaced them, but the IC heats up greatly, but it is fine because I removed it and tried it in another card and it worked fine. Where is the problem? Is it in the components surrounding the ic tea 1716? but which pins of ic responsable for overvoltge or which components must be change smd capacitors and resestors or all them.
Good Job
good work
Well good one .
Brilliant!
thank you so much sir
Bine te-am regasit !
Wow very nice troubleshooting boss...but can we test the opto coupler using a multi tester???
instead of melting, I had one that I used a Dremel tool to cut the piece out.
Welcome back !!! Next time say " I ll be back " ;)
N1 very interesting all time.. Thx
You are the best
I had a photo triac problem with a gas boiler PCB... I spent 2-3 hours doing this...
Oh, Sorin, I can remember those NASTY Telefunken Power supplies, put in those evil corners just under the CRT... There was no space & no way to put it right out on the bench and have some measurements... Also SONY was a terrible thing to repair... I can remember the schematics... sheets printed in su unusual format (30cm x 1mt long zig-zag folding) With LOOOOOONG wires drawn whrever it was possible to draw something... Oh man.. who can forget!
Good job! Did you miss a screw on the PCB to chassis frame?
Traiasca cel mai mare electronist !!!
Hi there ,please make a tutorial video about ,how we can use DC power supply ? What is diffrent between multimeter and DC POWER SUPPLY? thanks
Good job man 😉
I need some advice have got a laptop Asus S500C and video signal is gone both on hdmi and the screen. Any idea how to fix it?
Welcome back
Multumesc !
